  • In this video, Kirby Allison replies to several of the questions and comments asked by our RUclips Audience from the video of the first fitting Kirby had with Eric Jensen, of Sartoria Jensen.

In 2009 Eric Jensen followed his passion to learn the old world tradition of bespoke tailoring, by attending a prestigious school under a celebrated Italian maestro, Luigi Gallo. Eric graduated from Maestro Gallo's school, receiving his Master Tailor certificate, and he spent 4 additional years as an apprentice to tailor Chris Despos in Chicago.
Now located near Gramercy Park in New York City, Eric is one of the last American-based tailors to carry on the bespoke tradition. He continues the art of tailoring in it's purest form, hand-drafting each client’s unique body pattern and molding canvas to the specific shapes and curves of the body. At least 30,000 strategically placed hand stitches go into the making of each suit.

This was very excellent and fascinating. Mr. Jensen and you presented the material in a very pleasant and informative way. I will visit Mr. Jensen's website directly. Thank you.

I wish Mr. Jensen much success! He has a passion for his craft that I'm sure will be well rewarded. I would love to hear his thoughts on the care of suits. He made a remark about suits 'should never be dry cleaned." Can you do a video Kirby on suit care on suits we want to last a decade or more? Thanks for all of your insightful videos!

The quote Mr. Jensen points to at 21:21 to answer Daily Ritual's question (20:27) is from Oscar Wilde, arguably the last true 'dandy', and he said: "You can never be overdressed or overeducated"

While the conversation is interesting, I wonder why there were no examples of fine suiting fabrics in blues and grays to illustrate the discussion for the viewer - after all, video is a visual medium. And, it would have been very helpful to see some pictures of the various Italian suit styles during that part of the discussion. I have been honored to have an Italian tailor as well as Savile Row suits. I love them both. Please, more illustrations, visual examples and pictures in your next conversazione.

@16:42 excellent point. I smoke cigars daily in my suits which are wool and the next time I pull out the suit I have smoked in - I can't smell cigar smoke. I've even tested this with my partner and she could not smell any scents/cigar smoke

Your timing is perfect, Kirby. As it happens, my first appointment is scheduled tomorrow with a bespoke tailor to look at fabric swatches. This video will serve as a great primer for me.

    "Very competative pricing at 4000$"
"Just call his tailor to make three suit"
I wish i can just send 12000$ on an causal phone call. LOL

Those New York prices are eye-watering but you need a tailor to be nearby for all those fittings.

Kirby, love your channel. I live in northern Texas, are there quality bespoke tailors in the Dallas/Fort Worth area? Thanks for all the great info.
