However, it is also established that Henry has been making long trips to and from the mainland with heavy freight, so it's often late when he gets back... thus, he doesn't get much chance to sleep. He speaks to Edward one day, who suggests he could sleep at Vicarstown, since it'll be closer. Henry asks The Fat Controller about this, and agrees. Gordon overhears and is so cross, he ends up running into a freight train, causing himself some damage. To Gordon's annoyance, Nia is the one who has to take him to the works, but as the two talk, Gordon realises that they have a lot in common, especially since Nia can never see her old friends again. It’s so infuriating that after Nia and Rebecca got introduced, Edward and Henry basically got erased from existence. Even the characters themselves act like the two “retired” engines don’t exist. But of course Mattel wanted to cave to demand from the woke feminist brigade…
@@joshuaW5621The thing is Mattel tried to make us think they don’t exist. Henry literally had dialogue deliberately cut off, and in Season 23 they didn’t speak at all. Very clear that Mattel doesn’t like them at all and wanted them erased in AEG. You are the one who doesn’t understand, because you apparently support Mattel’s decisions.
This episode is relatable bad to me. Gordon was speaking straight up FACTS about how the audience feels about Henry's departure with no explanation. The title of this episode should've been called "Gordon goes rogue". Edward and Henry weren't fully gone yet as they had some cameos, mentions and speaking roles in the next 2 seasons of the BWBA Era.
Fun fact about All Engines Go Gordon: Sir Topham Hatt just didn’t feel like telling the engines on what tasks they need to do so he told Gordon to do it for him.
Me: Oh, boy, oh, boy, oh, boy... I don't want your GARBGE, Mattel! Mattel: Oh, please! Oh, please. Oh, please, oh, please... Me: I don't think you grasp... the severity of the situation. Link: ruclips.net/video/bZflkJhSQxc/видео.htmlsi=JlL4jpXUjo2k07Le
How would I fix it? Simple. Instead of having Gordon act like a spoiled little child, you could instead just simply have him be glum about Edward leaving Tidmouth sheds cause he knew Edward for many years and had learned a lot from elderly K2. Like maybe he would try not to show his glum side and try to get on with his work, but the more he tries to focus on his express duties, the more unhappy he becomes. Eventually he finally opens up to Edward about how he felt he was being sent away and replaced. Turns out Nia had also been unsure about her new life on Sodor as it is obviously very different from the African railway she used to work on. She tells Gordon that she knows how he feels and how she had friends she used to know on her old railway and how she sometimes feels sad that she's very far away from them. Edward also understands where Gordon is coming from, but is proud of him for trying to remain mature about Edward leaving Tidmouth, but explains that he's not leaving Sodor and is simply moving to Wellsworth which is part of his branchline, but sees just how much Gordon has grown personality wise and how Gordon learned so much and gained a lot of respect for Edward. However Gordon feels guilty for not giving Nia a chance and apologizes to her, but Nia tells him that she understood where he was coming from, cause she's having a difficult time trying to get used to her new life on Sodor, and Gordon tries to make it up to Nia by offering to show her around Sodor to help her get more aquainted with the North Western Railway. And the episode ends with Gordon being happy he had made a new friend and that Edward was remaining on Sodor, but just living in a new shed closer to his branchline.
What sucks even more is that this episode was written for Mattel to purposely mock the fans who complained the changes of the show. What Gordon is represents here is us fans, and Topham is Mattel. I don’t why the controller decided to scold him rather than understanding his feelings, I hate it so much. I think the crew could’ve use the roundhouse sheds in the RWS so they don’t need to kick Edward, Henry, and also Toby. This episode also disrespects the legacy of Wilbert Awdry himself because Mattel just fucking separate the first three that started the franchise. I understand why the crew wanting more female characters in the Steam Team. The concept is great but execution is terrible. I know why Gordon decided to throw a tantrum, but it doesn't change the fact he is out of character here. Awdry, I'm sorry if Mattel disrespected your legacy. Thomas is never meant to be a kids show and the company made it like one. Mattel only cares for money. It's no doubt how the Thomas fandom is better than the show. Thomas and Friends maybe a kids show but can be also watched by adults. Awdry never talks down only to children when it comes to his stories. There, I hope Mattel gets bankrupt soon. It's such a disgrace here.
I didn’t expect that Gordon had the worse than Henry, and yea I get why he was upset but like he didn’t have to be a big baby and do other dumb stuff. I think Gordon in the model era did great. Cgi also did good, but not as good as BWBA era.
I mean, yes, sure, Gordon can be somewhat quite an annoying bully to others from time to time, but that isn’t what we wanted of him, really, he’s really the other engines’ friend, no matter how angry he gets with them, or how angry they get with him.
Thomas: Don’t go back, saved you, wonky whistle, or too loud Thomas. Emily: As good as Gordon, Emily knows best, Emily and the special coaches, or any others. Skarloey: Skarloey the brave, wharf and peace, or push me pull you.
As someone who considers Gordon to be my favorite character in all of TTTE and Gordon literally having the strongest and best episodes of the show, this episode was just painful to watch, the fact Gordon would throw a tantrum is so out of character for him, sure he is grumpy and can be arrogant and pompous but by all means he would not act childish about it, the only characters of the main cast that I could consider throwing tantrums are Thomas and James, that’s it. The overall concept of Gordon having to accept change is such a good idea but MAN was it executed atrociously, plus having Nia to tell Gordon oh suck it and accept it just pisses me off because like huh??? Dude this is just wrong in so many levels man, Edward should’ve been the one to tell him that he needs to accept the change not having the new comer tell him!
Yeah...this really was a lowest Gordon has ever been. Imagine Sodor's top link prestigious express engine of the famous A1 class of the great Sir Nigel Gresley...acting like one hell of an immature thoughtless manchild. Sure, the Brenner Era flanderized him to a grumpy selfish cynical jerk but never to THIS point. That and Gordon was seriously the only one that even cared when two of the engines that have been with him since like the beginning and not even the two engines (Edward and Henry of course) that chose to leave were the ones trying to comfort them and explain their decisions. Anyways, I'm curious to see more installments of the worst episodes for certain Thomas characters. Looking forward to Thomas, Emily, and the Scottish Twins someday!
I actually like "Forever and Ever", even though it sucks that Henry just randomly left Tidmouth Sheds just for Vicarstown! Just why? And yeah, the whole Steam Team concept is a big joke, when there are loads of other engines we wanna see, not just Thomas and seven other well-known characters. 😒 But still, I favour this over "Gordon Gets the Giggles", "The Frozen Turntable" and especially "Gordon and Ferdinand".
This is most likely the theory behind it, as Vicarstown is on the eastern side of Sodor and the last stop before the Mainland. He was likely having to travel to the Mainland a lot more than he used to, meaning he hasn’t been able to spend as much time on Sodor and thus had to live closer to the Mainland to fulfil the demand. Henry never even interacted with Rosie, so pairing them up was such a weird move on Mattel’s part.
Alongside Frozen Turntable - Forever & Ever or any other Brenner/BWBA Gordon appearance didn't do my favorite Thomas character justice (the only exceptions I make in his main roles where he is genuine in my opinion are Gordon Runs Dry, Confused Coaches and Gordon & Rebecca Coming Through!). However, the early CGI seasons (when Sharon Miller was headwriter formally) handled Gordon well cause it was under HiT Entertainment's ownership until Mattel swallowed the company up and it became no more. I used to like this episode prior, but now I absolutely hated it! Gordon's tantrum is unacceptable and I see the potential in what the concept was meant to be about, but how it was handled is so turbulent. I will say it wasn't meant to be written in the first place - cause Rebecca was meant to be in Edward's place at Tidmouth and Henry never leaves for Vicarstown permanently, but then production issues occurs in Arc's bankruptcy, TAB fast-tracked into their schedule, etc. Series 21 where she was meant to be a part of was cut short and was pushed forward to this era (Confusion w/o Delay and Chucklesome Trucks). And I agree that the Steam Team concept doesn't work - they portray Tidmouth as a superhero lead corporation group when it and the main cast and other characters can use it at different times like a real locomotive shed. They just wrote themselves into a pickle, didn't they?
The sad part is this episode could have been a meta way to tell the fans that their feelings on all the big changes, but then I remember it was 138302% unintentional since they wrote Henry out in a single line
Nice video, dude. I always found this video to be a very bitter and condescending call out to upset fans, along with regressing Gordon's personality. Writing off Henry was super rushed and unnecessary and just further sours this era and makes it rather spiteful. Also, I love your usage of the FNAF SB daycare theme in your outro.
This episode is honestly less of a problem with Gordon and more so a problem with the fact this episode was made out of spite but that it obvious wasn’t much Brenner but Mattel’s lashing out
@joshuaW5621 he has every right to be upset, like imagine your two best friends leave and you only see them for 30 seconds a day, and being made fun of because your depressed
Does anyone think Andrew Brenner was forced to write this episode? I’m kind of feeling like Mattel said “Write this episode and make Gordon as unlikable as possible or we’ll snap your neck!”
Again the kids toys play version is better. In it they say Gordon’s upset because of the new changes to TWR. And Edward and Henry got replaced because the producers wanted him robbed from the steam team. In other words that version in funny!
Great video! I think the reason why Henry moved to Vicarstown sheds is because he delivers goods trains to the mainland along with the flying kipper. But the real reason why Edward and Henry were replaced by Nia and Rebecca was because Mattel wanted to fix the gender balance in the steam team even though it was the dumbest decision ever made.
@@DavidBContentExtravaganza3967That’s true, but the BWBA came out and Nia was introduced. So they just removed Henry from the show and replaced him with Rebecca.
You know how the Unlucky Tug was bewildered at how David Mitton wrote Edward the Very Useful Engine? Well, I’m completely bewildered as to how Andrew Brenner was credited for this absolute disrespectful junk. Me: WHAT DO YOU MEAN ANDREW BRENNER WROTE THIS ONE!?
i find it really interesting on andrew brenner wrote this ep. he either just gave up know how the show was going down hill or it was overhalled by a new team making it bwba - fied
not to make twelve comments, i do think the detail of gordon caring about how edward left and nia replaced him, i mean the only good way i could see this is that gordons irrational fear is being replaced by the next big thing, he depicts nia as the bad guy, the next big thing that took out one of sodors oldest with gordon knowing hes next, and at the end, he sees henry being replaced (again showings hes grown a kinship with both engines) again, now knowing he would be next. as in the cgi canon, gordon was the third engine, henry (2nd) was faulty, making mr fat controller purchase gordon. thats the only way i could see this making sense, but everyone knows a 4 year old wont understand this XD
And *ANDREW BRENNER* wrote it! Me thinking Mattel were in his way to force Nia in there instead of Edward or Henry for the night shed scene, Henry’s single line of dialogue, Gordon’s Tantrum, AND THE FUCKING (idk what they’re called but basically what you called it “the brain rot sequence). It’s by far the worst BWBA episode outta the entire 3 seasons Also you’re gonna regret getting Twitter. It’s the worst social media platform, and everyone is toxic over a train with a face.
What else did you expect from him? Brenner hates Gordon for some reason and all episodes he writes with Gordon has him suffering from indignity and disgrace.
At the end in the LEGO scene, I heard Chuck from Budgie the Little Helicopter. But as awful as Forever and Ever was, I wouldn't call it Gordon's worst episode. That dishonour would go to Bust My Buffers.
I think that the worst thing about this episode was that I'm pretty sure it was written with the intent to mock the fandom, who were not in favour of BWBA.
Not just the Flying Kipper, but probably other heavy goods work too that requires him to frequently go to the Mainland, so he figured that to accommodate the demand, it was best he lives on the eastern side of Sodor in order to be as close to the Mainland, where his work often takes him to. That’s my theory.
I think the BWBA team just had something against Gordon, whether it be poor characterization or writing. Looking at it from a lesson angle, this isn't a good episode covering how to handle friends moving away or handling a child who is moving away from friends. Gordon can be pompous and prideful, but he is kindhearted and helpful and we have seen it in the past. The Awdry's knew what they wanted to do with Gordon and in the books showed his progression from a young boastful express engine into a mature engine that could finally accept change. However, it seems like that progression got lost over time do to the show running for so long which caused Gordon to get down graded to a big blue grumpy engine.
YEEEEES! My FAVOURITE series on this channel! I hate Forever & Ever merely for the fact that Nia just tells Gordon to suck up the changes, and that Henry was written out in the span of, like, what? *1 MINUTE?!* And the *MOST* baffling fact is that this was *SOMEHOW* written by non-other than Andrew Brenner!!!
This is where people have to give the Miller era credit. Say what you want about most of the characters, but you can’t deny that they nailed Gordon’s pompous and kindhearted sides perfectly. Not like the Brenner era and THIS abomination of any episode.
@@joshuaW5621 I’ll give you that, that’s pretty good. But that doesn’t really change the fact that Gordon was massively screwed over in the Brenner Era. He was treated as a punching bag by the show and never once got a happy ending.
It’s odd that the era during CGI Thomas’ tenure that got Gordon the most correct was the Nitrogen Era… Here are a few examples: In Hero of the Rails, he was more than happy to help with Hiro by bringing him spare parts. When Thomas was a bit goofy and took the express that one time and couldn’t handle it, Gordon was happy to retake the train. In Snow Tracks, after somehow creating a giant snowball and causing Thomas to derail, Gordon feels sorry and helps Thomas by getting Rocky and helping him deliver the firewood. It’s only a few examples, and there are plenty that show Gordon to be rude, but he was treated relatively good.
@@joshuaW5621Bro I'm in Colorado and just left a "Day out with Thomas" event and some dumbass moments that happened there was that AEG songs were playing throughout the whole time I was riding Thomas, "Percy's new whistle" was playing in a basement model layout, and then "Misty Island rescue" started playing when I got to see Sir Topham Hatt. It wasn't all sacrilege throughout the whole time. We got better songs playing like the generic Engine Roll Call, "Sir Topham Hatt's CGI song", "Go Go Thomas" and "Thomas you're the leader" and in the basement layout "Escape" started playing and it was perfect because Oliver and Toad were on the layout.
I honestly don't have a problem with Edward and Henry moving out, but what I do have a problem with, at least with Henry moving out, is that they never brought up the reason why. Like I know that Henry was never supposed to leave Tidmouth and it was said why Henry wanted to move to Vicarstown in the Still the Best of Friends short, but not actually the reason why he wanted to move there. Of course now it's assumed/implied because he takes freight trains to the Mainland but they could've addressed that in the episode. I don't really dislike the BWBA era, but the extra minute and a half that was cut off from the episodes during this time really affected a lot of episodes that needed that extra time for more dialogue. Even a little exchange from Gordon asking Henry why he's moving that goes something like this: Gordon: why are you leaving? Henry: to be closer to my work. Gordon: oh word? Okay I take that personally. Time to make a fool out of myself. Could've made the episode maybe not good but at least slightly better than how it turned out. Either way, this episode doesn't really make me mad. In fact a lot of the worst episodes you've covered I actually really like for some stupid reason. Apart from Panicky Percy, that episode sucks and so does this one. But I kind of just find enjoyment out of questioning the crap that goes on in episodes like that as opposed to dunking on them. Not that there's anything wrong with dunking on them, I'm just that one guy that doesn't get mad at even the worst episodes in my eyes.
Guess what really does matter is that, unless we take this whole Mattel company down and out somehow, they’re gonna keep treating Gordon like this until he eventually blows his stack on everything and everyone.
At first I didn't like Gordon when I first watched Thomas the tank engine because I thought he was just an asshole who is always rude but over time I got use to him being like this

I really do hate the last scene of the episode. Gordon was too stubborn and not actual elegant character in the RWS. However, considering what coming after Brenner's resistance leave, this episode can be the one of the best episodes from Brenner's heart. The captalism and business exploting from the RWS contents started obviously since 2018, but in the behind the scenes, this trend may have started before, maybe in 2014. Brenner shows his anger and his genuine respect to the RWS, he warned what Matel policy team was trying to do.

And at least they still were referred to by name in BWBA instead of just "those trains"
@@joshuaW5621Edward did get an episode in S22 which was "Hunt the truck" and it was great to see him being with Bill and Ben.
Ironic how Mattel proved Gordon right by changing everything in the Thomas universe with the All Engines Go reboot.
They even brought back Neil Crone to voice him and Eddie Glenn to voice Toby.

@@joshuaW5621 I meant it never meant to be
I didn’t expect that Gordon had the worse than Henry, and yea I get why he was upset but like he didn’t have to be a big baby and do other dumb stuff. I think Gordon in the model era did great. Cgi also did good, but not as good as BWBA era.
I do understand why he got mad. Edward and Henry where his first friends
I mean, yes, sure, Gordon can be somewhat quite an annoying bully to others from time to time, but that isn’t what we wanted of him, really, he’s really the other engines’ friend, no matter how angry he gets with them, or how angry they get with him.
Good/Fair Point.
4:03 I didn't know Gordon had a mental breakdown.
I still don't understand how you have one of those. And frankly, I don't want to know.
Thomas: Don’t go back, saved you, wonky whistle, or too loud Thomas.
Emily: As good as Gordon, Emily knows best, Emily and the special coaches, or any others.
Skarloey: Skarloey the brave, wharf and peace, or push me pull you.
The fantasy sequence is a perfect representation for the current state of the franchise.
I think they used Gordon to represent and make fun of Thomas fans in this episode
Episode is fandom's reaction on Mattel actions, but with Gordon and Sir Topham Hatt. Just my opinion.
Gordon felt the most relatable during that episode. Who wouldn’t react like that!
There are no worst episodes about Thomas, but, I can think of a couple for Emily and Donald & Douglas.
I feel like this episode was vent art you can feel that frustration being put into Gordon
@@joshuaW5621 Me too; it made better sense with Rebecca introduced much earlier and Henry staying at Tidmouth Sheds.
Gordon is basically the T&F fandom reacting to this…
Obviously similar to fans’ complaints on the BWBA era
It must be that Henry moves to vicarstown as he often delivers cargo trains to the mainland as told in tale of the brave and journey beyond Sodor
Forever and ever is actually satire because gordon represents the fandom and everyone else represents mattel. Change my mind.
I felt like Percy would’ve been a better character for this episode for some reason
4:14 My reaction to all of mattel's business decisions:
Accurate
Honestly the fantasy sequence makes Skibidi Toilet look like The station joke!
The sad part is this episode could have been a meta way to tell the fans that their feelings on all the big changes, but then I remember it was 138302% unintentional since they wrote Henry out in a single line
If Edward talk about changes throughout his life it would had worked
Nice video, dude. I always found this video to be a very bitter and condescending call out to upset fans, along with regressing Gordon's personality. Writing off Henry was super rushed and unnecessary and just further sours this era and makes it rather spiteful. Also, I love your usage of the FNAF SB daycare theme in your outro.
Forever and Ever feels like it was wrote to anger the fans. The worst Gordon episode imo is Gordon Gets The Gigglee

Does anyone think Andrew Brenner was forced to write this episode? I’m kind of feeling like Mattel said “Write this episode and make Gordon as unlikable as possible or we’ll snap your neck!”
No I disagree
@louieseeley7743 why?
Gordon was basically beign an idiot in that episode. He kept getting angry.
I wonder who’s next! Thomas? Emily? Donald & Douglas?
Again the kids toys play version is better. In it they say Gordon’s upset because of the new changes to TWR. And Edward and Henry got replaced because the producers wanted him robbed from the steam team. In other words that version in funny!
Great video! I think the reason why Henry moved to Vicarstown sheds is because he delivers goods trains to the mainland along with the flying kipper. But the real reason why Edward and Henry were replaced by Nia and Rebecca was because Mattel wanted to fix the gender balance in the steam team even though it was the dumbest decision ever made.

@@TryTheRoachBurger huh, I just noticed that!
not to make twelve comments, i do think the detail of gordon caring about how edward left and nia replaced him, i mean the only good way i could see this is that gordons irrational fear is being replaced by the next big thing, he depicts nia as the bad guy, the next big thing that took out one of sodors oldest with gordon knowing hes next, and at the end, he sees henry being replaced (again showings hes grown a kinship with both engines) again, now knowing he would be next. as in the cgi canon, gordon was the third engine, henry (2nd) was faulty, making mr fat controller purchase gordon. thats the only way i could see this making sense, but everyone knows a 4 year old wont understand this XD
That would be a perfect rewrite for the episode
And *ANDREW BRENNER* wrote it! Me thinking Mattel were in his way to force Nia in there instead of Edward or Henry for the night shed scene, Henry’s single line of dialogue, Gordon’s Tantrum, AND THE FUCKING (idk what they’re called but basically what you called it “the brain rot sequence). Not just the Flying Kipper, but probably other heavy goods work too that requires him to frequently go to the Mainland, so he figured that to accommodate the demand, it was best he lives on the eastern side of Sodor in order to be as close to the Mainland, where his work often takes him to.

Over exaggerating but he does have a point.
The song at the beginning was fucking awesome❤❤
It’s odd that the era during CGI Thomas’ tenure that got Gordon the most correct was the Nitrogen Era…
Here are a few examples:
In Hero of the Rails, he was more than happy to help with Hiro by bringing him spare parts.
Nitrogen era Gordon is peak CGI Gordon

It wasn't all sacrilege throughout the whole time. We got better songs playing like the generic Engine Roll Call, "Sir Topham Hatt's CGI song", "Go Go Thomas" and "Thomas you're the leader" and in the basement layout "Escape" started playing and it was perfect because Oliver and Toad were on the layout.
@@joshuaW5621I am. Thought I refrence something to the Miller Era that happened during my trip.
Even a little exchange from Gordon asking Henry why he's moving that goes something like this:
Gordon: why are you leaving?
