I love the surreal nightmarish feel in this film, much of it in broad daylight which only makes it seem more disturbing like being awake in a nightmare, watching Christian's nightmare unfold. Great looking film too, Lenzi's best film in my opinion. We're never quite sure of what's going on and what'll happen next, it's in many ways a genius film that may not make all that much sense but neither do dreams, I keep returning to it again and again which defines any fascinating film.
Larry, I totally agree with everything you said about SPASMO. It is a very underrated movie. I absolutely love it, and I think this movie was the one that made me fall in love with Suzy Kendall! Beautiful looking lady, and she was also excellent in THE BIRD WITH THE CRYSTAL PLUMAGE, TORSO and ASSAULT too.
I do like a good giallo. Another couple of films she's in that I like are, Assault (1971) and Circus Of Fear (1966). Talking of Circuses the other british horror/thriller circus set films I really love are the fantastic Circus Of Horrors (1960), Berserk! (1967) and a really good little atmospheric film centered around a lottery ticket,a scheming woman and twin trapezists played by the great Herbert Lom, called, Dual Alibi (1947)
Cheers Steve. Yeah, Assault and Circus of Fear are both great films. The former movie looks absolutely stunning on blu ray. Circus of Horrors has recently been released on Blu, and I hope to get that for Xmas. Berserk is a fantastic movie. Will have to check out Dual Alibi.
Love the intro Alan.I’ve never seen this movie,I was born in 74.Sounds an interesting movie.I’ve just brought a Manakin head for my Michael Myers Mask.Keep up the great work.😀👍
Hi Alan just watched Spasmo. As good as you said. The only thing Suzzy kendall did I haven't found was in Mogual TV series. Thanks for the reviews. Stay safe. Peter
