I’m so glad this was a video with these two seats. I’ve got a few thousand miles on my step up and I don’t think it’s the most comfortable thing personally. After about an hour my ass hurts lol someone recommended the sdc pro and I really want to give that a shot. I’m 5’8 220
@@RidinDad I was eyeing that a few months back as well. I think it looks good but I’m curious if the rounded seat holds you more comfortable than the squared step up style.
Had to come back and share this experience. I got the LS and loved it until the 220 mile mark during break in. Rides longer than that started to get uncomfortable. Also, the LS seat moved me forward a smidge (technical term) and at 6ft with long arms, I did not care for that. I loved the way the bike responded though and the seat locked me in. I asked you if it was worth the upgrade to the SDC after buying the LS. Well, yes, it is. Without question 103% worth it. I sold the LS at a slight loss and got the SDC. It moved me back just a little, maybe an inch and felt more relaxed, Much the way you appear in the comparison. You convinced me to upgrade from the LS to the SDC and it was absolutely worth it! So, thank you.
@@RidinDad Without even breaking it in, I put 800 miles on it in a weekend, 350 miles in the first day. I was ready for more. MOAR! Great seat and I can't tha knyou enough for the final push.
Hey, thanks for your input. I'm 6.1 and I'm worried that the SDC will move me forward and with mids that can be a problem but you had the opposite experience, I don't understand how. Also, do you feel less locked with the SDC and if so, is that an issue? Thanks!
This is BY FAR the Best Comparison Video I have seen …. Thank You Man . BIG HELP . I’m 5’7 and I needed to get closer to the controls for more aggressive riding. You answered every question I had AND showed what they looked like on the bike 🤘❕❕❕ I’m following you for sure - you did this right ✅❗️❗️ Stay Cool 🤙🏻
Thanks for all your great content! I just moved to Navarre from Seattle in November and just gave up my my ktm super adventure for a 2021 low rider s. Love it, totally different riding style. Already chomping at the bit to make it “mine”. Love your channel!
I bought one of the sdc seats recently , I live in Australia so it was expensive , around $1200 AU dollars. The back rest is comfortable for me at the lowest position . I've only done about 6 hours of riding so far, so it hasn't been worn in yet so it is a bit firm , it will be great when it softens . One thing I will say is that if you leave your bike out in the sun for a while the seat takes quite a while to cool down. I left my bike out in the sun yesterday for a couple of hours and I had a 30 minute ride home and the seat was still quite hot on my backside all the way home . I have also heard that if the seat gets wet it takes quite a long time to dry out. That being said , I am happy with the seat it's a quality product and it looks awesome on my street glide.
Agreed with the heat for sure! Something I found out the longer I had it, mine did not take very long to cool down thankfully though, but it does get hot very quick because of the material and the padding underneath absorbs all the heat. You can just take a small little white washcloth or something to plug over the seat when you are leaving it in the sun and that helps a ton. I’ve seen a lot of guys do this in the summer especially. And I’ve heard a lot of people say the thing about the wetness for all of Saddlemen seats but I have never had that issue. So I wonder why people have different reactions with that
Thank you for your video it really helped me choose which seat to go with I will be buying the one with the lumbar support I'm a shorter person with a little back problem again great video
Just came upon this video, I just installed a touring step up on my street glide only have a few miles on it but so far it is comfortable but needs breaking in. Road about 100 miles on it no soreness so far. I am 5’10” 230lbs love the seat notice more control over the bike due to a stable seating position I feel locked into the bike
Great comparison. I’ve been looking for a seat for my Street Glide and was curious about the differences in those two Seats. I also wasn’t sure about my feelings of the backrest. Great seeing a side by side, thorough comparison. Love the channel.
@@RidinDad Heh I'm actually playing the waiting game. Put some passenger pegs on so she could start riding with me and I have the step up without the rider gel in the passenger section...I'm pretty sure I'll be getting a new see soon enough ;)
Lol oh for sure man!! This seat has a lot of extra padding in the passenger section even without the gel so I have a feeling with the gel it would be really nice. It’s obviously not as wide as a lot of other seats but way better for the passenger than the step up
I bought a step up Saddleman last year that was hardly used. I didn't know about the break in period and I started thinking that I knew why the previous owner didn't like it. Now that it's well broken in, it's very comfortable. I'm 5'6". Between this seat and switching out the original Hollywood bars for 10" mini apes, I'm much more comfortable with my reach. I don't know about the newer seat with the adjustable backrest, but I recommend the comfort and the shape of the step up Saddleman seat for shorter riders on M8 softails like my Slim.
Sdc pro is the shit! I have about 1000 miles on it and it’s been a lil firm on the break in but the back rest is key for longer rides! Love it and so does the wife!
It is so funny, you and I had the exact same thought, I ALSO just replaced my Step Up for more long distance riding. I did however went with the SM Explorer LS also with the removable back rest. I am interested to see how you like this one long term, looks nicer than my Explorer, that’s for sure
Lol that’s awesome man. I’ve heard very good things about the explorer too! Ill definitely be posting a long term review. I’ll probably wait till I have at least 1500-2k miles on it
i put 3500 miles on SDC Pro “Fresno Cali. to Sturgis” Feels lil bit narrow on Long Day but not bad it’s looks Cool & Back Pad Help alot 👍 10K miles total on SDC Pro still looks brand new Just for another experience i received Custom Corbin Heated Seat by mail today for upcoming Sturgis Rally 2022 I still love my SDC Pro for local ride
Nice!!! Yeah it does incredibly well for a non touring seat with touring miles lol. Saddlemen quality is second to none! I’m ordering a 2 up corbin for some husband wife riding in the next few months!
love the idea of that back rest except I have an extended reach road sofa and still sit way back so being pushed forward wouldn't be so good. Great review! I agree with calling Saddlemen, every time I have they threw in my custom stitching and vinyl color choices for free
That’s awesome man!! I’ve never had that be that nice to me lol. Yeah not a great idea with the backrest for taller fellas. Being tall is not a problem I have LOL. What I lack in height I make up for in charm 😉
Excellent review!! I have mild low back issues , I think that seat would help with that. I'm 5ft 10, so hopefully I won't feel scrunched having kraus risers with an inch of pullback.
I don’t think so at all! The current riser and bar situation I’m running has about a total of maybe 6 inches of pullback. And I don’t feel it at all. Plus the back support is adjustable to several different levels. And thanks man!!
Now that you have had 5 months or more of riding with the SDC to Seat, wonder if you are going to do a follow up review of the long term ride and comfort of the seat?
Great video. I don't think the SDC Pro was out last year when I bought my Step Up, which is a bummer because I'd love to have something like that backrest to push me forward a couple of inches. I'm about your height. The Step Up was a huge improvement over the stock seat, and I added pullback risers to get closer to the bars, but it's still not quite enough.
Another great video! I might have to check out that SDC. I'm running a Harley sundowner on the 2021 lowrider S mainly for the passenger comfort. The wife has some good junk in the trunk 🤣 so I gotta make sure she's comfy. Maybe we can get a review of the passenger comfort level?
I have the opposite issue, my wife can't get enough! But our kids are 18 & 15. The sundowner is super comfy for her but lacks the coolness factor 😒. We are headed up to Virginia city for lunch today. Its a cool ride up some twisties here in the Reno NV area.
Awesome sounds fun! I don’t think anything will ever be as comfy as the sundowner for the passenger. It’s huge back there. Even with the better padding in the sdc seat over the step up it’s still too skinny to be super comfy
I ordered one from Saddlemen directly so I could leverage the military discount but it would have been cheaper to order from Getlowered. Can’t wait for it to come in.
Yeah, at least you did not overpay by a ton because you still got a discount. It’s just a little bit of a difference. The important thing is that you are getting it! You are going to love it man. Be safe 👊🏻
Awesome vid man! Im 6'1" and been stressing what seat to get for my fxlrs ill be getting soon. I heard you can get the step up seat custom made so the backrest is back a inch further. Not sure what to do but this vid def helps!
That’s awesome. I have not heard about that option yet. Honestly I feel like the 5 11-6 ft range is ideal for the step up and no pull back on the bars. Try to find a used bike with it on already to sit on at least but I really wouldn’t worry man. I’ve seen lots of 6 ft and up use the step up and like it. Thanks for watching!!!!!
I talked ro saddlemen and they said i can have the seat customized to have the backrest a inch back so thats awesome. Yeah, im def gonna see if i can ait on a used fxlrs or fxlr and see how it feels. I was also debating getting pullback risers. Maybe i should hold off on ordering parts till I have the bike and see how it feels. Lol Im way to excited and need to calm tf down
I picked up a 17 street bob earlier this year and I hate the factory seat feels like I'm gonna slide off every time I gun it plus I'm only 5,7 with lower back issues so this pro seat sounds perfect for me. thanks for the review keep up the good work🙏🏼
@@keithmyles7086 no I haven’t . I started doing other things first since the seats are so expensive. I did my bars ,fairing head light swap, grips and added a pair of passenger pegs. Right now I’m having trouble with Speedo not registering and bike shutting off at every light but when I get that figured out the seat will be my next part swap..
That's do awesome, I was thinking saddlemen Woo-hoo not now it's the SDC-PRO that's exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks for the review on both seats. SDC-Pro it is..... 👍Go to saddlemen seat website?
Awesome! And on their website that’s the only place that you can customize it. If you go to San Diego customs and click the seat it takes you straight to the saddlemen website anyway. But I bought mine from get lowered. They don’t charge shipping or tax extra so what you see for the price is what you pay and if you use any of their coupons floating around you can get about $10 off at least
Another great review, thanks! I've been looking at this seat also, but am interested in how the passenger pad feels (for the wife). Is it any wider than the one on the step-up?
@@RidinDad Just purchased the 22 low rider S in black a few days ago and im not a huge fan of the factory front fairing, is that the factory light behing the fairing or did you need to purchase that seperatly? I actually really like it the way you have it and might pull the fairing off tomorrow if it looks that good underneath haha.
Nice man congrats!!! And nah this is an aftermarket headlight. I have the adapter bade from moons mc to use regular headlight buckets. A headlight bucket. 5.75 inch light. Wiring adapter. Pretty cheap overall! I have a video on the headlight install and I have the links for everything I used too
I know I'm late but GOOD VIDEO BRO !!! You gave me a tremendous amount of help with this video and a lot of others. You try to explain everything in detail and say why you are doing what you are doing Good Stuff Bro. *P.S. Keep Smacking And Blabbering !!!*
Hey Chris, great video, TY. However, on the seat with the backrest, are you able to remove it and place in your saddlebag to keep it from “running away?”
Thanks man! And Yupp. Just slides out. Adjustable heights as well. Has a Velcro cover to cover up the male Velcro end on the seat and hole also if you choose to not use the backrest at all
In the market for a LRS. Thanks for helping me decide which seat to go with! What about handlebars? I’m 5’ 8”, you think the 10” pull back risers is too tall? Undecided between 8” or 10.” Keep the videos coming!
Awesome man, my pleasure, glad to help in anyway. As far as the risers go it’s funny you ask that because I recently just changed mine for the second time. Right now I have the stock bars but an 8 inch riser with pull back. It’s perfect for me and I am 5 8 also. The 10 inch would probably be OK also it really just depends on your preference. I would say definitely no higher than 10 inch as long as you want to keep your hands parallel or below your shoulders. Since it was such a simple install I did not post a video yet on it but I will be doing an overview video of my set up in a few weeks to show everything I have changed up on it
Great video . Thorough . Does the SDC pro come in a daddy long legs version like the lepera? I am 6’2” and previous comments here suggest that this seat pushes you forward
Thank you! And yes it does just a smidge because there’s more padding in it. And no. This seat comes as is. It’s available without the backrest too but no extra options for dimensions.
I’ve never had an issue of comfort really with the step up. My issue mostly is just that I’m shorter so even with the pull back on the bars I have under a lot of wind and a lot of hard acceleration it still puts an annoying strain on my back and shoulders. So that’s why I went with the seat with the back rest. But I have heard of that seat. My buddy motos & mullets has it and he absolutely loves it. He’s got a video on it to
So now that you’ve had the seat for awhile, is the SDC the way to go? I like to do several long trips of 500,600 plus miles, I currently use the Harley sundowner, although I think its very comfortable I think the passenger seat is butt ugly, looks like a giant pillow, and since I never ride with a passenger not to concerned about comfort more about looks for passenger seat. I cant make up my mind which seat, step up or SDC, please help me out. Thank you I’m kinda short myself of being only 5’ 8”
Thanks man! Theirs a whole video on both of those if you wanna see more as well as a total walk around of the bike with everything I've done to it for 2021 so far. They're from Flo Motorsports though
@ridindad I can’t find this sear for the fxlrs. They fitment description says its for the street bob 2018-2020 and standard softail. Is this the one you bought?
There is one specifically for the fxlr, fxlrs, and sport glide. That is the one you’ll need for the fxlrs. I’m not sure what site you’re using but I know get lowered had it and currently saddlemen has it too at least
How are the saddle man seats for the passenger, they look a little slim. I want the pro series for my RGS but 700 is a little steep if my fiancé don’t like the seat.
Pretty bad depending on which you have. The sdc pro and step ups I e had have really narrow and chunky passenger sections. Wife said they were insanely uncomfortable and unmanageable for even 15-30 minutes for her. Pretty much every other review from passengers I’ve seen have said the same thing unfortunately. I have an explorer seat on order to use for two up riding
Have you every been tempted to order one of saddlemens taller backrest like the one from the road sofa, and seeing if it could be modified(bent) to fit? The slot mechanism seems the same. I have the original step up but I want a tall backrest for longer touring so I’m debating going to the pro series.
Neither are ideal for passenger to be honest. They’re not designed with the passenger in mind. Just going based off looks the sdc pro looks better due to the bigger padding area and higher foam padding in general. My wife tried out the step up as a passenger for a 30 minute trip & she absolutely hated it. Said it was ungodly uncomfortable
Great 👍 review on these seats. I want to upgrade my SGS stock seat to a saddlemen seat. I’m 5’9” and was wondering if the Pro seat allowed you to plant both feet firmly on the ground with a little bend in the legs? I can now but I just want a little more bend in my legs when I’m on non asphalt or concrete. Plus pushing the bike into the garage while sitting on it would be better if I was a little lower. Several solutions like shaving the seat width around the thigh area or even wearing newer boots with more height. I just like the look of that Pro seat and how it may help you lean forward a little or even be less slouched. Thanks again.
It’s a little bit narrower, which does help with that kind of stuff. But it’s hard for me to definitively tell you because I have a rear and front suspension lift on my bike.
@@RidinDad thank you. I did put legends on the back of mine but have them set at 12”. I have not done a thing to the front. I’ll just have to sit on several before choosing.
My tank design is exactly how it comes from the factory with all low rider. S bikes. It is a decal under the clear coat of the tank. Painted on. In my newer videos you will see that I have blue over that and I just paid a guy to pinstripe over identical lines that were already there for the logo.
I am only 5’4 and looking for an aftermarket seat for my low rider s. Between the step up and SDC pro which one has better ground clearance? I am hoping they are both narrow in the front so I could easily stand at stop lights. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
They both have super similar if not the same width profiles. The sdc seems to have a little more padding which sits you slightly higher but only very slightly
Finally after a year of watching your RUclips videos i achieved my goal and bought a LRS, I’ve been eyeing off those SDC seats as I just think they look better on the bike than the step up, now I just got to save the $700 Australian money to buy it 🙄
It’s hard to recall the stock seating on my bike and it’s impossible to know the difference for your bike as I’ve never had one. The only thing I can say to try and help is that habitually the step up seats sit you a tad closer if anything and sometimes higher up a smidge. But again, different for all bikes based on original stock seating
Looking at replacing my stock seat after 5 thousand miles. Got it dwindled down to SDC Pro vs Road Sofa Vs Lucky Dave’s Get Lucky. I’m 5’11” if that matters.
I’ve never tried lucky Dave’s or the road sofa. Road sofa isn’t even available for my bike but it looks really good. I know a bunch of guys who ride a lot and they use the road sofa
Since the stitching leaves hundreds of tiny perforations in the leather, what happens when you get caught in the rain? How do you dry it out? Wouldn't it get full of mildew? Asking because i get a lot of rain in the summer here in S. Florida
In this video they were 8 inch pullback biltwell risers and stock bars. I now have stock bars. 8 inch kraus pull back risers and a trex plate from kraus
The risers are 8 inch bung king pull back risers and the bars are the original bars from this bike which are essentially the same bars as Thrashin Supply mid bend bars
This has been super helpful in the decision process. Do you think the back rest is needed? Would you recommend over not having it? Trying to see if I could save the $200
Im 5'9 with short legs which one allows you to reach the ground better. I am buying one of these for my baggers which is already hard enough to back up in gravel.
Hey boss I have a bad back what do you recommend for a seat out of these 2 seats ? I have a step up seat now but it sucks. These seats worth the extra coin ? ??
If you have a bad back this seat is an absolute game changer compared to the step up. I had shoulder issues and upper back issues and ever since I switched to this seat I’ve been completely fine. The adjustable back rest is awesome, not only for the support but if you’re doing a longer day or several day trip you can have it in one position one day and then adjust it to help lessen the fatigue for your shoulders and back
@@RidinDad awsome I think I might take your advise then.If it helps my back so I can enjoy my bike it will be worth the coin.Thank for getting back to me !
No problem man! If you do decide to purchase it I know Tucker Speed website just posted that they had them back in stock so check them out and don’t forget to use coupon code RIDINDAD for 10% off man 🤙🏼
Do you have an opinion on which seat is more comfortable for a passenger? I know either will work for how often the wife will be riding with me, but I’m curious on your take? Thank you!
Hey, honestly in my opinion I think they both pretty much suck for passengers. But obviously you can make it work. The SDC pro seat has more padding in general and I believe you can still get it with the gel insert for passengers so I would say that’s better overall but as long as you get the gel insert in either one you’re probably looking at about the same. It’s just a very skinny profile for passengers to be comfortable on but some of them do it and are OK with it
@@RidinDad I appreciate the feedback. She would really only be making 2-4 hour trips periodically, so it’s not going to be terrible either way. Keep up the content. I found your channel yesterday and subbed!
I appreciate that man!!!!! My wife was on my step up without passenger gel for 10 minutes and she said she would never do it again lol. So just have realistic expectations
@@RidinDad fair enough. My wife used to ride around on the back of my gxsr 600 so I imagine she’s going to be a little happier with anything that’s not that again. Lol
LOL you might be surprised man. The issue is that it’s so damn narrow. I know the sport bikes have a super thin amount of Padding but usually it’s a little bit more wide. This is just a super narrow piece and it’s almost like sitting on a 2 x 4 for them LOL
Thank you for the video. I know iam late to the party , but after 2 years what you think about your seat? I am shorter rider at 5’6 . Also how was it compare to stock seat height for you , are you higher up ? Or lower or even the same ? Thank you for your time Aloha from Hawaii
It’s a smidge higher up but obviously adjustable front to back with the backrest. I love the seat. I’ve sold the bike now but always enjoyed the seat for as long as I had it
@@muddywaters0819 I did go with the saddle man with the adjustable backrest . The one on your right. Honestly fen Awsome . I had put on 300 miles on it and very very happy with it. As far as height, not much from my stock FXLRST seat a slight higher nothing noticeable I mean less than a quarter inch if that . Honestly I would fully recommend. As far as pushing forward , I really don’t notice from stock when I remove the backrest. Also I rather ride with out it . But the backrest does give you that lower back support. On long rides. You can’t go wrong with the saddleman
would you buy the pro seat without the backrest??? im looking at the pro no backrest or step up this video explained alot but just nearing a final decision
I see no reason to buy the pro without the backrest. It’s removable so you don’t need to have it on all the time and it comes with a little Velcro patch to cover of the slit too. To me it’s a waste of money to buy it without the backrest. Plus I have a feeling if you try it with the backrest you’ll never want to use it without one anyway
If you can find one for a softail slim it should fit also. If you can’t I would call Saddlemen and see if they do have one that’ll fit you just can’t find or what
I have recently purchased the Saddlemen Step Up LS seat. Is the SDC Pro worth the additional 600ish to go with that seat having just purchased the LS? Your comparison in the side by side shows you look slightly more relaxed in the Pro Seat. I love the LS but now I'm thinking I should have gotten the Pro instead. Selling the LS is an option, it is still like new with all original packaging.
So that’s a tough call for me lol. I really think it comes down to how old you are and how old your back and shoulders feel lol. For me, the adjustability of the backrest and the added padding is definitely worth it. If you’re tall to begin with the main benefit you’ll have is the dual density padding and of course the adjustability. If money is no option then I say yes 100% the sdc pro is the way to go. The plus side to having the ls step up, is it’s such a sought after seat it’ll be super easy to sell either locally or online. Tough choice there being that you just coughed up the money for the step up. I think overall you’ll like the pro better. Just depends on HOW MUCH BETTER if that makes sense!
@@RidinDad Thank you, I appreciate the advice. I'll eat a little by selling the LS I think, but not much and cough up for the SDC. My lower back is jacked (thank you military) but I rarely use the back rest. The lumbar support looks nice though. I'm 6ft so reach is not an issue and I don't want to be pushed forward, but the backrest is removable too and can live in the saddlebag I'm thinking. I'm sure I'd like the SDC more, but my question really was, how much more and is that worth it. I won't say money is no object, but I've dumped a fortune in the bike already, what's a little more?
Quick Question on Saddlemen sdc pro seat I'm 10.5 tall and about 250 would this seat be a good seat or not? Be on street glide. Love the seat just not sure being a bigger guy if the seat would be comfy please any advice?
Ah gotchya. Makes more sense now lol. I believe it would be comfy. Don’t know exactly how it sits on a touring platform but comfort wise its very nice. Dual density foam on the sdc vs standard foam on the other saddlemens
Ridin Dad, I have the tuck n roll Saddlemen and want to be able to get further back from my bars. Will the SDC pro version do that or will it bring me closer ? I saw on other channels that where they stated it sat you further away and contradicted what you say in this video. Unless you are specifically talking about when having the back rest installed? I definitely don’t want to be closer to the bars. Any help with comparison of measurements would be greatly appreciated . Thanks man
can you tell me if this new saddle change de higher level ? i mean, i am 5 feets 4 inchs tall. can i touch the ground easily ? if you compare with the stock saddle, Notice : i have low rider st 2023. Thanks :)
At 5 04 you can’t touch the ground easy on any seat. Both of these seats sit you up a tiny amount higher from the stock because of the increased padding.
Hello @kapricebeaute232 - did you end up buying one? I’m looking to buy one that pulls me up forward…if you did, let me know which one you got. Thanks! (I’m 5’6)
I’ve never seen anyone else mention the pin. Do you have to put it in the hole that you want and then put the back rest in? Trying to understand how that part work with adjusting. Great video!
I have made up my mind to go with SM pro with backrest pillion. Chris, can i installed this pillion with lock or anything to deter from unwanted guest?
Personal preference I believe. I don’t think it makes a difference either way. But I assume the tuck and roll is harder to keep clean due to the crevices
Thanks for your vid. This helped me out with the SDC with back rest. Short guys need all the help they can get on a bagger.
Happy to help man! Safe riding 👊🏻
I’m so glad this was a video with these two seats. I’ve got a few thousand miles on my step up and I don’t think it’s the most comfortable thing personally. After about an hour my ass hurts lol someone recommended the sdc pro and I really want to give that a shot. I’m 5’8 220
Do it man!! But I will say, if style is not super important the Saddlemen explorer is an amazing seat
@@RidinDad I was eyeing that a few months back as well. I think it looks good but I’m curious if the rounded seat holds you more comfortable than the squared step up style.
It locks you in just as firm in my opinion and it’s more plush for the rider and way more comfy for the passenger

Hey, thanks for your input. I'm 6.1 and I'm worried that the SDC will move me forward and with mids that can be a problem but you had the opposite experience, I don't understand how.
Also, do you feel less locked with the SDC and if so, is that an issue?
Thanks!
The sdc has gripper on the back portion and still locks you in just as much if not more than the step up 👌🏻

Damn you! Now I want one 🤣 I just went on a trip with the bike and I realized I need to make some changes too.
Lolol it’s worth every penny!!!!
Happy to help! 🤙🏼
I ordered one of these a few weeks ago. Should be here in a week or two. Can't wait!
Nice!!! You’re gonna love it man!
this SDC is the BEST seat!!! and that lower lumber addition is a Game Changer!!! bad ASS!!!!
Hell yeah!!
The best review on this seat I've seen. Thanks for sitting on the bike with the two seats. I think I will be going with the sdc pro.
Hey thank you!! Glad I could help! You’ll love the seat
Yeah it’s awesome how much of a difference a new seat can make. And that seat is awesome. It was not available when I originally did this video
We are twinning with the carbon fiber now! The all black on the pro seat looks sick with the SDC logo poppin 🤘🏻
Thanks dawg!!!
Great comparison. I’ve been looking for a seat for my Street Glide and was curious about the differences in those two Seats. I also wasn’t sure about my feelings of the backrest. Great seeing a side by side, thorough comparison. Love the channel.
Thanks man. 👊🏻 And if you’re between the step up or sdc I say definitely go sdc! The backrest is awesome.
Nice to the point video with no nonsense
Thank you
I been eye balling those seats for a while...unfortunately I think my wife would stab me if I don't take a break from spending money on the bike.
Lol. So first and ask permission later man !
It’s obviously not as wide as a lot of other seats but way better for the passenger than the step up
Time to get a new wife
Time for solo seat
I bought a step up Saddleman last year that was hardly used. I didn't know about the break in period and I started thinking that I knew why the previous owner didn't like it. Now that it's well broken in, it's very comfortable.
I'm 5'6". Between this seat and switching out the original Hollywood bars for 10" mini apes, I'm much more comfortable with my reach.
I don't know about the newer seat with the adjustable backrest, but I recommend the comfort and the shape of the step up Saddleman seat for shorter riders on M8 softails like my Slim.
Yeah. Like I said in this video the sdc pro is even better for shorter guys because the adjustable backrest makes you even closer.
Awesome vid!, very well made, especially how you showed the clear comparisons
Thank you! 👊🏻
This video has been a huge help in my shopping Thank you
Happy to help man! I have another video on another seat. I have been using for a while now if you wanna check it out someone recently as well.
Thank you for answering my questions b4 I could get to the comments !
Great video.
No problem man! 🤙🏼
Sdc pro is the shit! I have about 1000 miles on it and it’s been a lil firm on the break in but the back rest is key for longer rides! Love it and so does the wife!
Awesome!!!! Yeah that passenger pad looks way better than the step up for sure!
I’ll probably wait till I have at least 1500-2k miles on it
@@RidinDad the only problem about the Explorer is that the pillion seat is uuuuuuuugly and really big
Lol yeah it is pretty big
i put 3500 miles on SDC Pro “Fresno Cali. to Sturgis”
Feels lil bit narrow on Long Day but not bad it’s looks Cool & Back Pad Help alot 👍 10K miles total on SDC Pro still looks brand new
Just for another experience i received Custom Corbin Heated Seat by mail today for upcoming Sturgis Rally 2022
I still love my SDC Pro for local ride
@@RidinDad oh man thats awesome!! Thanks for showing this seat! I've never even heard of it. I appreciate it!
My pleasure man 👊🏻
Now that you have had 5 months or more of riding with the SDC to Seat, wonder if you are going to do a follow up review of the long term ride and comfort of the seat?
Yes I absolutely am. It’s an awesome seat and I honestly have no complaints. I’m very happy with it. But I’ll have a video up soon
Great and informative video- we appreciate it!
🤙🏼👊🏻
Great video. I don't think the SDC Pro was out last year when I bought my Step Up, which is a bummer because I'd love to have something like that backrest to push me forward a couple of inches. I'm about your height. The Step Up was a huge improvement over the stock seat, and I added pullback risers to get closer to the bars, but it's still not quite enough.
I was in the exact same boat man!! This seat now lets me bend my elbows !
My sdc comes tomorrow for my street glide. Waited 8-9 weeks. Cant wait
That’s crazy. Seems like I got mine right before they went out of stock everywhere! You’re gonna love it man!!!
Great share bro. Seat looks super comfortable. Can’t wait to hit a 1000 miles on my saddlemen. 🤙🏾🔥
Hell yeah man! 🤙🏼 and thanks!!
🤙🏾
Thanks brother great video
You made up my mind
I’m going with the SDC
Thank you! And you will be very happy man! It’s an awesome seat
Lol. I’ll see what I can do! My wife won’t get on the bike currently because our kids are so young
Be safe 👊🏻
Big help! Thank you!
Happy to help!
Lol Im way to excited and need to calm tf down
Lol yes definitely. You never know man, the stock seating position and bars might be perfect for you!
I picked up a 17 street bob earlier this year and I hate the factory seat feels like I'm gonna slide off every time I gun it plus I'm only 5,7 with lower back issues so this pro seat sounds perfect for me. thanks for the review keep up the good work🙏🏼
Yes, absolutely!!! You’re gonna love it!
Same problem here. Did you get the SDC and are you happy with it?
@@keithmyles7086 no I haven’t . I started doing other things first since the seats are so expensive. I did my bars ,fairing head light swap, grips and added a pair of passenger pegs. Right now I’m having trouble with Speedo not registering and bike shutting off at every light but when I get that figured out the seat will be my next part swap..
Sounds like wiring issues since you did the bars
Really wish a company would start making nicer seats in this style for the Rebel 1100. Love the back rest too. Very cool! 👍🏽
That’s a huge benefit of buying Harley,….millions of aftermarket. Rebel 1100 is relatively newer and is gaining traction fast so it might happen man!
Another great review, thanks!
I've been looking at this seat also, but am interested in how the passenger pad feels (for the wife). Is it any wider than the one on the step-up?
Thanks! It appears to be the same width but lots more padding even without the gel added in
I like the no fairing you run on your FXLRS.
Thanks!! Me too lol. It’s different. Reminds me more of the low pro dynas which I love!
@@RidinDad Yeah! I don't have a problem with club style but with all the Low Riders out there I definately wanna be one of the few to stand out.

Outstanding Review. Thanks for your time.
My pleasure man, thanks!
Lol Ridin Dad, Females ride too 😉.
Subbed.
Lol they very much do. Thank you!
Nice video. Thanks for uploading. You experience any vibration issues with the backrest?
Not at all!
Picked up my SDC Pro today from Saddlemen. Great seat!
Hell yeah! Enjoy man!
Did you order from saddlemen, or SDC? How long did it take? Thanks for the help.
another great video, you made up my mind now getting a sdc pro
Awesome. And thanks! You’ll be happy!!
On your seat is there like an ID number, pro sf110 as an example. I really like this seat.
It’s just called the sdc pro gripper seat from saddle man
@@RidinDad thank you for your immediate response, much appreciated 👍
No problem 👍🏻
Hey Chris, great video, TY. However, on the seat with the backrest, are you able to remove it and place in your saddlebag to keep it from “running away?”
Thanks man! And Yupp. Just slides out. Adjustable heights as well. Has a Velcro cover to cover up the male Velcro end on the seat and hole also if you choose to not use the backrest at all
But the post/seat are not too long to fit in your saddlebag?
No. You see the backrest here and the post is about 5-6 inches long if that
In the market for a LRS.
@@RidinDad thx for such a quick reply! Unfortunately as good looking as the seat is it just won’t work for me . Great review
I think you might like it but I would definitely say to try it out if possible first! It doesn’t scrunch your up as bad as you might thing
Sweet video dude! I made a similar video on my channel a few months back comparing the two seats on my 2019 Street Bob. SDC all the way for me!
I saw it man!!! Agreed. It’s a great seat!
Have you ever checked out the whiplashspeedco step up much more comfortably then my saddlemen step up seat and same price
Thank you I’m kinda short myself of being only 5’ 8”
Out of the two the sdc is way more comfortable. I’ve put several 10-12 hour days on it with absolutely no issues or complaints
Is it weird that I look forward to your intro song?
Not at all!!!!!! I do too lol. That’s what I’m most proud about from my whole channel lol
Thanks bro great review
Thanks man!
Grate video thank you . i was looking for this set up . the step up sadle isway to hard .
👊🏻
Hey What foot pegs / toe shits & rear foot brake are you running...?? They are real sharp.
Awesome video!! Thanks for all the info!!
Happy to help. Thanks man!
Excellent job, Thanks. 👏👏👏
Happy to help man
How are the saddle man seats for the passenger, they look a little slim.
I currently own an explorer with backrest too. They do not fit. Similar but different
I luv ur seat!😁... seriously though it looks very cool...even with the backrest... Noice..
Thanks!!
Wich one is.more comfortable for the passenger
👊🏻
Looks like the SDC sits you up higher than the step up if I’m not mistaken??
It tells like it. Just slightly. The angle is different
Did your bike already have those Road Glide tank decals? If not, where did you buy them? Trying to get the same for my '18 Softail Slim.
Honestly at 5 4 they will both be rough for flat footing I think. But the sdc will give you better options for arm length issues
Finally after a year of watching your RUclips videos i achieved my goal and bought a LRS, I’ve been eyeing off those SDC seats as I just think they look better on the bike than the step up, now I just got to save the $700 Australian money to buy it 🙄
Awesome!!!!!! Congrats !! Yeah they’re pricy but I feel they’re definitely worth it
Does the step up Ls sit you back further than the stock seat I am 6'2 tall I have a sport glide
Best youruber in business Sir! Appreciate your reviews n feedback.
Thank you man!! I appreciate that very much!
Florida
I’m in south Florida as well lots of rain. Never been an issue.
I live in Washington and ride year round. Never had a problem with it. But then again I’m wearing rain gear 3/4 of the year.
Love the seat and the bike what kind of ricers and bar you have in your. Low rider s. . im am getting one . !
In this video they were 8 inch pullback biltwell risers and stock bars. I now have stock bars. 8 inch kraus pull back risers and a trex plate from kraus
does the SDC Gripper Seat fits 2017 breakout ? i just want to make sure before i go with it bro thanks.
This specific seat would not but I’m pretty sure they make this seat for that bike. Just go on the website and see which ones fit which bikes
@@RidinDad what website you have most collection you recommend ?
Either the sdc site or saddlemen directly should have the most options I would assume
@@RidinDad thanks bro for your reply 👍🏻
👊🏻
I am curious as to whether the height of the handle is the original handle. I wonder how many inches the tuned riser is.
The risers are 8 inch bung king pull back risers and the bars are the original bars from this bike which are essentially the same bars as Thrashin Supply mid bend bars
This has been super helpful in the decision process. Do you think the back rest is needed? Would you recommend over not having it? Trying to see if I could save the $200
Happy to help man! And yes 100% get the backrest.
Nice seat
Thanks!
Im 5'9 with short legs which one allows you to reach the ground better. I am buying one of these for my baggers which is already hard enough to back up in gravel.
I would say height wise they feel about even to me on this bike at least.
Can you measure the seats from the floor up & also measure from.front of seat to the back / wall ( back touches)
I cannot. This video is fairly old and I do not on the step up anymore. Just the SDC pro
Great channel love your videos!
Thank you man!!! That means a lot 👊🏻
The adjustable back rest is awesome, not only for the support but if you’re doing a longer day or several day trip you can have it in one position one day and then adjust it to help lessen the fatigue for your shoulders and back
100% worth the money in my opinion
@@RidinDad awsome I think I might take your advise then.If it helps my back so I can enjoy my bike it will be worth the coin.Thank for getting back to me !
No problem man! If you do decide to purchase it I know Tucker Speed website just posted that they had them back in stock so check them out and don’t forget to use coupon code RIDINDAD for 10% off man 🤙🏼
@@RidinDad your the best 🤟🏻
I’ve sold the bike now but always enjoyed the seat for as long as I had it
U ever find a seat?Ive done so much research and apparently they all suck and add 2 inches…im about 5’7
@@muddywaters0819 I did go with the saddle man with the adjustable backrest .
Told you man! I have a good recommendation lol. Glad it worked for you
Hey buddy, great review! Have you tried the SDC seat with a pillion? Interested how the comfort is for the ladies. Cheers! Roden
Thanks! And it’s sucks! It’s about the same as the step up which is really bad for two u
Is the Saddlemen Pro a good seat for a 5'11" rider?
I would say so. I’m a few inches shorter than that but I could definitely see it being the perfect seat even up to about 6 foot in my opinion
would you buy the pro seat without the backrest??? im looking at the pro no backrest or step up this video explained alot but just nearing a final decision
I have the 2022 heritage 114 and it says the sdc seat isnt compatable, what do you think is different? The monoshock resivior adjuster?
The rear fender is different. Do they make one for your bike at all?
@@RidinDad only step saddleman

Lol yeah I hear ya on that man. Same here! And yeah you can run it without the backrest and it’ll seat you back Owen further if you want
Excellent video glad a did a few thousand clicks for you
Thanks!
Quick Question on Saddlemen sdc pro seat I'm 10.5 tall and about 250 would this seat be a good seat or not? Be on street glide. Love the seat just not sure being a bigger guy if the seat would be comfy please any advice?
When you say 10.5 tall i don’t know what that means lol. If you clear that up for me I think I could help a little bit more
@@RidinDad Sorry meant to put 5'10 &1/2" not 10.5
Ah gotchya. Makes more sense now lol. I believe it would be comfy. Don’t know exactly how it sits on a touring platform but comfort wise its very nice. Dual density foam on the sdc vs standard foam on the other saddlemens
@@RidinDad what if he was 10.5 lol
Ridin Dad, I have the tuck n roll Saddlemen and want to be able to get further back from my bars. Will the SDC pro version do that or will it bring me closer ? I saw on other channels that where they stated it sat you further away and contradicted what you say in this video. Unless you are specifically talking about when having the back rest installed? I definitely don’t want to be closer to the bars. Any help with comparison of measurements would be greatly appreciated . Thanks man
It’s the backrest portion yes. Without the backrest it sits you a tad farther away than the step up
@@RidinDad thanks
@@RidinDad purchased !
Nice!!!! You get from tucker speed and use my discount code to save you a few bucks?
hey mate i really like how u have deleted the front windscreen fairing is that a aftermarket front headlight ?
Yes it is. I have a some what recent video on the light I’m using currently.
@@RidinDad thnx mate which video do i look for
It was 4 weeks ago but here’s the link man
NEW Front & Rear LED lights w/ integrated turn signals from DEABUY for my FXLRS!
Hey man what’s your inseam? It looks taller than the stock seat, I’m worried about not being able to flat foot my bike anymore.
I’m 5 08/09 tops. I wear length 28-30 pants. I also have the raised rwd rs-1 rear shock and I can flat foot still
What is the pin for that came in the backrest?
Keeps the backrest from falling down due to the angle that it sits in the seat at
the SDC pro is good for my low rider s 2021?
Yes! This exact same seat. The 2020-2021 is exact same bike
@@RidinDad thanks so much
👊🏻
can you tell me if this new saddle change de higher level ? i mean, i am 5 feets 4 inchs tall. can i touch the ground easily ? if you compare with the stock saddle, Notice : i have low rider st 2023.
Thanks! Yeah, the pin is just a stopper so that the backrest wont get pushed down in to the seat further than what you selected.
I have made up my mind to go with SM pro with backrest pillion. Chris, can i installed this pillion with lock or anything to deter from unwanted guest?
The whole seat? Yes. I have a video on the locking hardware I prefer to use but there are many different options out there
@Ridin Dad sorry Chris, I meant to lock the rear back reat, the small backrest with pillion attached.
Oh gotchya. No. No way to lock that at all to my knowledge
What’s your thoughts between the tuck an roll an the sdc?
Personal preference I believe. I don’t think it makes a difference either way. But I assume the tuck and roll is harder to keep clean due to the crevices
