HOLY!!! WHAT??! WH--WHA--------WHAT?????? HE JUST. CUT A STRAIGHT LINE. HE CUT. A STRAIGHT LINE. I guess the cardboard kinda keeps your blade kinda straight but that's some serious skills, and he's doing this while talking??? (or was it another person talking) Either way it's amazing I can't even... wow.
koukounut Trust me, the cardboard does not keep the blade straight. .__. I had to cut a lot of types of boards in art school & aaallways had to measure like 5 times before finally cutting using a ruler, cuz I can't cut a straight line. LOL. This guy... has skills o_o
I have never been so impressed by someone cutting cardboard. When he just spitball shot a straight line across the board to cutout the piece to use for the box my jaw was instantly agape.
Actually I play this video a few times a day, I use it to relax I don't know if it's the sound of him working, or actually watching him assemble the box or just him speaking korean but it relaxes me, until Simon replies ok and I get out of my trance. I think it has to do with actual concentration in the work because the other one I use to relax is a chinese tea ceremony video. Thank you Simon for a video that de-streses me from daily activities :)
Not OP, but one thing I learned in engineering drafting, was if you are trying to draw a freehand line, look to the endpoint and pull the pencil there, don't concentrate on where the pencil is now. I imagine the same works for a boxcutter on cardboard.
Since we didn't get to see his face, please tell me that he is a grey haired , long bearded, wrapping master , that lived isolated on a mountain for years, practicing the ancient art of box wrapping. THAT WOULD BE SO AWESOME!
I swear, my mouth and eyes were wide open, and like i didn't move a muscle for 2:31 minutes. this is by far THE MOST FASCINATING, INCREDIBLE VIDEO I HAVE EVER WATCHED IN MY LIFE. thank you man, you guys just made my day!
He is cutting with the grain on the cuts where he doesn't use the ruler - once you're practised with applying the right amount of pressure and correcting the blade direction with muscle memory, the corrugations of the cardboard help guide the blade.
I think due to the way cardboard is structured it's relatively easy to cut it straight. There are little waves all inside the cardboard (find some cardboard in your house and look at an exposed edge) and the knife wants to stay in the valley between two peaks, think how you stay inside an open top water slide. There are still some crazy skills and muscle memory on display here.
@Anyafish He 'scores' (sp?) the cardboard with a tool when he's measuring out the size. When he does this, all he has to do is apply downward pressure and the box-cutter will follow the groove he scored. Simple stuff, try it sometime.
wow O.o he is amazing O.O in my job i have to print, cut and fold buckets, post cards and so on by my hands and doh, it took so much time and its not easy make straights lines, but that guy, i wish to have his skills
OMG that was awesome!!!! The perfectly straight lines o.o I can't even cut straight with a guide/ruler. ..IDKY, but there was just something attractive about the box making. It was just to cool.
One older customer was accusing the wrapper guy about the missing goods. The wrapper guy says if you have left the goods near my watch then I'll definitely have it stored in the safe keeping, since it's not there that means you must have left it somewhere else. Then the older man complains about it over and over about 3 times, only to get the same answer.
WOW. I've never been so amazed at watching someone make a box! He's super ninja with that box! If i did that it wouldn't even take me a day to get the measurements & it's still be boxed wrong.
Wow! Thanks for sharing! I watched the video because I genuinely wanted to make a box (that I still have to do). Wasn't expecting that level of awesomeness, and even if it wasn't the video I needed I kept watching it. It was interesting.
My face went :O when watching this. That man's hands were super fast and skillful. Never once in my life would have thought a plain carton box could be that beautiful.
sweet. That was awesome. If we had that here it would probably knock out some of the buisness to USPS with their pre sized boxes and prices. It would certainly help with the problem of finding the right size box for your packages
simonandmartinabonus Copied from +Grace Lung "hey simon & martina...your vid is making its rounds on FB....under 'World's Most Extreme Videos' ...i looks like its been re-uploaded, might like to report it facebook.com/photo.php?v=1375170289394937 " I agree with her.
I get my boxes free where I work at. They have hundreds of different size boxes and some are very solid too. Kool technique though, and fast as well. Can you make a video with different size stuff?
Looks like a pretty ordinary little snap-blade knife. You can get one for a couple bucks at Home Depot. They make larger versions too, which are quite appropriately called 'box cutters'.
What sorcery in this? I am totally amazed. But is this a very expensive service or is it like buying a regular box just without any leftover space? - here in Germany we usually pay the fee by size so everybody tries to be super efficient with packing everything in the smallest box available.
I still come back and watch this video every once in awhile.
This is still one of my favourite EYK videos.
Still one of my favorite videos on RUclips. So fascinating to watch.
This is probably my favorite video on RUclips. I keep coming back to it.

+koukounut Illuminati confirmed!

2016 and I'm still intrigued by this video
Actually I play this video a few times a day, I use it to relax

HOW DOES HE DRAW A STRAIGHT LINE
Not OP, but one thing I learned in engineering drafting, was if you are trying to draw a freehand line, look to the endpoint and pull the pencil there, don't concentrate on where the pencil is now. I imagine the same works for a boxcutter on cardboard.
+NyanPop it goes with the grain. So once you slice it, the grain takes it all the way to the other side in a straight line.
*+TheRoyalHam* then explain the two straight diagonal line at 1:18 xD
@@TheHiroyukiutatane its beginner luck..
My mouth was open during the majority of this video. I was in awe at the amazing precision and skill this seemingly ordinary postman possesses.
Since we didn't get to see his face, please tell me that he is a grey haired , long bearded, wrapping master , that lived isolated on a mountain for years, practicing the ancient art of box wrapping. THAT WOULD BE SO AWESOME!
Judging by the voice, He's young man, and also talking with another customer while making the box.
You have no idea how many times ive come back to watch this video since it came out. This amazing boxing skill is so satisfying to watch. 😍
He is cutting with the grain on the cuts where he doesn't use the ruler - once you're practised with applying the right amount of pressure and correcting the blade direction with muscle memory, the corrugations of the cardboard help guide the blade.
I love how the sound effects have subs too 😂

I have always wondered why the boxes I get from Korea are so strange looking!! Now I know why!! Wow, that is really cool!
Omg that is so awesome!!!
Whenever I buy stuff from korea online I am always amazed about how they package all the items so well.
such an ASMR material video ~~ no wonder why watching a video of making boxes is strangely nice O__O
@Anyafish He 'scores' (sp?) the cardboard with a tool when he's measuring out the size. When he does this, all he has to do is apply downward pressure and the box-cutter will follow the groove he scored. Simple stuff, try it sometime.

This is what becomes of ninjas in the modern age. They live average lives with extraordinary skills.
OMG WOW! i used to think boxes are boring but the process of making it like that is totally interesting!
How did I miss this video?? It's awesome! :)
Every noise in this video is extremely satisfying... Especially when he cuts through the cardboard... Not weird or anything...
Did anyone read the subtitles for this? was giggling all the way through
hahaha I had to watch it again with subtitles. favorite part "more Korean talk about... pigeons?"
*something Korean, don't know*
One older customer was accusing the wrapper guy about the missing goods. What a professional way of making a box. Brilliant.
Dat subtitles though. Simon, you should make subs for Korean dramas; I think they'll be box office material. xD
THAT WAS SO COOL!!!!! In the U.S. we only have pre made boxes.
. . . I was completely mesmerized
WOW. I've never been so amazed at watching someone make a box! He's super ninja with that box! If i did that it wouldn't even take me a day to get the measurements & it's still be boxed wrong.
Come to Korea, where you learn boss boxing skills
So with just a ruler, tape and box knife you can make a custom box?

Wow! Thanks for sharing! I watched the video because I genuinely wanted to make a box (that I still have to do). Wasn't expecting that level of awesomeness, and even if it wasn't the video I needed I kept watching it. It was interesting.
Like a box.
omg! how sharp does that knife have to be?! So cool!
he cuts the box so fucking straight... wtf
My face went :O when watching this. That man's hands were super fast and skillful. Never once in my life would have thought a plain carton box could be that beautiful.
That. Was. Amazing.
As an aspiring package designer, this video makes me so unbelievably happy. :')
Should that box later be handled by USPS, it will arrive at its destination resembling and quite possibly smelling like a half digested burrito.....
Hi
where did you find this size cardboard?
i am living in London and i couldn't find cardboard for making custom box.
I can't even place my ruler straight. Wtf?
sweet. That was awesome. If we had that here it would probably knock out some of the buisness to USPS with their pre sized boxes and prices. It would certainly help with the problem of finding the right size box for your packages
Those subtitles doe.

How are they so precise?! I want to try now..
HOLY Martha Stewart! I didn't know I needed this video in my life, but I do. Why didn't I watch this like a year ago?!?
@Anyafish it's in the wrist.
This service is really common in many post offices in Korea.
You just take whatever you want for shipping and they do that for you.
I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO AMAIZED IN MY LIFE...AND OVER MAKING A BOX O-O!!
This just blew my mind. It's like watching the creation of the earth. It just never occurred to me people could make boxes. FROM SCRATCH.
WOW! do they not have pre-made boxes?
Gift wrapping/ boxing presents during Christmas time must be a breeze for him!
im impressed. very talented and smart.
OMG that was soo cool. I'm so jealous. Never thought that making boxes were so interesting till now.

THAT GUY WAS SOOOOOOO SKILLED AT MAKING BOXES! Koreans ARE SURE MULTI TALENTED IN EVERY WAY!
omg! how did he do that without precise measurement on all the lengths he had to cut!! i once tried and spent an hr
I wish they did this in America! I would constantly ship different size things just so I could see someone make the boxes!
Jus curious... why is he boxing these items instead of bagging them? and are those....general household products? what do they sell there?
that guy got mad measuring and cutting skills like a pro :) hella cool i did not blink at all what he just did that was freakin fast
the way he made those straight lines hypnotized me.
The subtitles for this are fantastic.
