Sailfish OS doesn't emulate android, instead it implements its APIs by adapting the Android Open Source Project code to run as an application. "Android applications can thus run at native speed", however animations and many other functions will not work. I am about to buy a used XA2 w/ full license Sailfish to use here in USA. What really stinks is that Jolla won't allow any updates or downloads for me here... So I have to have relatives in the UK set up a network redirect for me to use just to update and download anything and everything here in the USA. I know this is so because my cousin traveled from Scotland to Massachusetts and while he was here Sailfish was basically locked down. Yeah, the USA Gov't is extremely nasty just for the sport of being nasty, but blocking owners of devices they paid you a fee for your OS and use just feels so wrong. Getting out of Android and never again going iphone (I was foolish enough to by the original iPhone 1 8GB) makes it my only real option as Ubuntu touch just isn't developed fast enough. I hope this all works out!
This story is strange because I don't have any real blocks whatsoever. I only used VPN to buy a Sailfish OS license and that's it. Yes and no. It depends on what you are used too. Compared to a lower end Samsung? Pretty on par. Compared to a flagship phone? Yes it is less smooth. But I find that pretty hard to compare it too because of the difference in price. Anyway: If you value privacy, openess or want to support a European selfdepence, it is one of the best options you can get.

I am using Sfos as my daily driver for about 1,5 years now and I do not see why I "can't use it as a main device". Selecting of all text is not possible with one click / double tap? Yeah, what a big game stopper... Sfos is in a state where it could easily be used by at least 50% of the smartphone users (actually from my perspective even more, but lets try to stay real here). Of cause, people need a reason to switch. The biggest for me: Privacy and selfdependence from the US in Europe (or other continents). You can call privacy and trying to be independed from big, monopolistic, data selling companies "childish", but the same could be said about all the technical short comings you talk about in this video here too, especially with these "people say it is less stuttery on 10 III... I do not have one but I doubt it" statements. Just say you do not know. If you value openess and privacy in a big way, it is childish to watch an FPS counter. That is just not very important for the big picture. Anyway: I have beenusing a Sfos powered Xperia 10 II and am now using a 10 III. Both are very well capable of being a main smartphone device if you buy AD support. My experience: The 10 III is significantly more smooth. Perfect? Not sure if I am qualified to give an final answer to that, but much more smooth then the 10 ii? Yes.
Well, I don't claim I know exactly how 10 III performs. If it is a miracle - great, we'll see. But if you compare the browser performance on your 10 III with Safari on iPhone 5 (with iOS 10 installed), what you will consider as more smooth/easier experience - like you can give it to anyone and he/she will have no issues? Or even take iPhone 4s (with sluggish iOS 9 on board). Which one will be more preferable? I personally own iPhone 5s on iOS 12, for me 10 II has no chances here. And iPhone 5s is a 9 years old phone! From what I realised throughout the years, most of experience for people comes from the default browser. I hope you wouldn't argue SFOS browser needs some work. Noone needs an FPS counter, the difference is clearly felt. You can search for "iPhone 4s iOS 9 review" on youtube (11 years old phone), to compare how browser should work. If SFOS could perform on 10 II like iOS 9 on iPhone 4s, I would be happy, honestly.
@@Bohdan_HI-TECH I do not own a Golden Cage Device (=apple) of any kind, sorry. Anyway: It really isn't about "smoothness" at first. First and for all it is about: Does it work and long AFTER that it might be important if there is micro stuttering or not. Anyway: The 10 III with sfos is much smoother with the browser too. Is it better than your iPhone 5s? I do not know, but that is not important: If you love iPhones, get one. There is no reason to buy something else if you do not have a problem with Apple or Google or the privacy issues or being actively put into an operation system which is designed to keep you to use your phone as long as possible so you can buy more from the app store or watch more advertisments so you are making money for the company you bought it from and keep you from alternatives as well as it can. About your question: No, people who use my phone in general are fine with it for the small time they use it. Would they be fine with it as a daily driver? I am not sure. The real question however is: Are you willing to adapt to a different operation system (which by nature will have drawbacks and advantages... otherwise they would be the same) and phone to receive the advantages it has or not? If your biggest concern is, how much FPS it can put through in the browser: No, I would not advise you to get a SFOS device. It is meant for a different target group. And the micro stutters in your game you show there... that game is a developement of Google meant to work best in Google Chrome which SFOS does not use for privacy reasons (not even Chromium is Google free...). Google is known for actively sabotaging other browser engines and competing products to push their own once. But anyway: I just checked with the in built FPS counter on my SFOS 10 III. It hold the fps counter at 60 fps all the time. Just in case you are wondering about if that is faster or not.
