I remember telling people before the first fight that Sugar Hill had absolutely nothing for Usyk, it was like giving a 1000 piece jigsaw to a toddler. That goes for the meat and potato Brits like Andy Lee, Dominic Ingle, Mark Tibbs, Tony Sims. The chasm in sophistication reminded me of where English football was in the late 90’s compared to Italian and Spanish teams - the idea that being more physical and more aggressive could bridge the gap. British trainers need to study and learn from whatt the Ukrainians have been doing. They’re light years ahead.

Obviously Usyk is an elite southpaw, but even Wallin gave Fury a very tough fight. Fury clearly has a weakness fighting southpaws. He never through both fights effectively challenged Usyk for outside foot control and when he switched southpaw himself he came off even worse than fighting orthodox.

AJ in the rematch only won one round tops, Fury won less rounds compared to AJ in the first fight but just by one but won them with more variety, uppercuts, bodyshots, jabs and crosses, while AJ responded better to Usyks feints and mostly won middle rounds with just 1-2s, which is basic but impressive none the less

The moment 17:56 this shows how Fury failed to impose his fight on Usyk. The fact that Fury did not manage to get a desired reaction in orthodox and southpaw and missed a heavy left and right punch at this stage must have felt pretty demoralising and for him. Most boxers would flinch at this stage of the fight due to shear exhaustion and subcontiouse body mechanics. The fact Usyk kept a cool head and stayed in control at this stage is very impresive.

I don't think it was really a 'speed difference' that became more apparent as the bout progresses but rather a difference in endurance. Usyk's hyperactive style does not tail off by the half way mark and no one can stay with the tempo he sets. In a nutshel, it is his energy level from mid rounds on that is Usyk's key advantage.
Although right from the get go, the speed difference was notable - which limits the extent to which I can agree with the resistance element being the overriding factor

First fight Fury would walk away whenever Usyk played his up/down game. Fury fought worse in this fight, he put on too much weight, which made him slower and made him gas out faster combined with usyks bodywork, he barely threw any uppercuts for some reason 😮 trying to fight Usyk doesn’t work, period.

Square Cube Law. With more volume comes exponentially more surface area. All that skin is work for cardio. Being bigger against a cardio strategy like Usyk's was always certain folly. He didn't throw the uppercuts because they leave him open for Usyk's backhand.
