The reason for 99 bends and 999 steps is because during the ancient time, 9 is the number representing supremacy and the heaven. 9x9 equals 81 is also the number of tribulations a Taoist must endure before he/she could complete his/her immortal cultivation. The total number of tribulations in the novel "Journey to the West" (Wukong the monkey king story) is also 81.
Oh that’s so interesting to hear! 😳 thank you for sharing this story. Very fascinating and factual. Really appreciate your comment and thanks a lot for watching our video 🤗
This such a cool place to explore. I actually visited Tianmen Mountain two months ago, it was so incredible. One of the best travel experiences I've ever had. Awesome video man, you captured it very well 👌Have a great day and a great weekend ahead 😊
The Duck Shit Fragrance tea is 100% legit name which is 鸭屎香 in Chinese. The reason behind this wacky name is the tea is too good to be revealed to the public. To keep it a secret, the farmers simply give the tea this "shitty" name ! Amazing how business works in ancient China right! 😁🤣😁
@@kierantravels The name of the tea comes from the secret fertilizer the farmer uses on his tea trees. Yes, duck poop. Nothing to do with the taste, but it makes people curious so the name stays.
Thank you for showing option B for Tianmen Mtn. You’re the 1st RUclipsr that I watched the option B route. When we were at the ticket office, the agent suggested option A for us. We went up to via cable car and then went down the 999 stairs (thank goodness) then exit the 99 bends via bus.
Wow option A sounds great too! Perhaps next time we will try this 🥰 thanks for watching this video and the option B route! I’m wishing you an amazing week ahead 🤗
@@kierantravels option A is amazing and I had some Chinese kid go to sleep on my shoulder during the bus trip down. I didnt know him from a bar of soap. very funny even my wife thought it was hilarious too.
nice, you guys did make it to tianmen mountain 😃. some crazy construction and if you haven't noticed a theme so far, china likes to build things lol. one thing about china is they like to do gimmicky things so you can't take names of stuff at face value. the story for the duck crap tea is it's very good and expensive so traders gave it an unappealing name to prevent thief. apparently it also prevented you guys from trying it out lol 😂
That’s very true! I’m sure when we come back to China it will have lots of new things to see after the construction 🙈 hahah, really good to know about the duck crap!!! We really need to give this a try next time… it certainly made me a bit curious 😂 thanks for the information 🤗
@@kierantravels I just Googled it, Duck Shit is a unique variety of oolong tea native to Fujian Province. There are two sayings about this name, the tea was named after the colour of the soil around the tea bushes, which resembled the colour of duck droppings. Another saying suggests that the tea has a distinct and elegant seeking and taking this precious. By calling it Duck Shit, they hoped to mislead and deter outsiders' interest in this variety. So, the flavour has nothing to do with real duck shit hahah, 😆 I definitely will try it too next time.😁
The roads is the only way to get up to heaven gate before they build the cable car before the roads people have to hike up by foot for hundred of years.
The translation at 17:00 is ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! It completely destroys what's behind the Chinese name! To the left should be the Jade Pot Peak instead of the Chinese pronunciation of 玉壶, and to the right, it has nothing to do with fairy tales! It should be the spiritual spring instead!

99 means eternal.

the duck shit translation is correct, but it doesn’t taste like duck shit at all😅 it’s a nice taste actually

That Duck Shit translation is actually not wrong, however, it's a quite popular flavour in China.
but I've never tried it
