4L80E Transmission build.

Building a 99 4L80E transmission. original case was a 4x4 with a broken case. converted parts to be put into a new 2 wheel drive case with a shift kit. Did not show the shift kit install because not all shift kits are the same and will require different modifications.

Thanks for posting your video , If it wasnt for some of the specialty tools required believe I could rebuild mine . The knowing what to look for damaged parts and what gets replaced or updated need to work on that

Do you do pump modification? Drilling lube hole to 1/4"? Or putting small drill holes on ring gear for better lubrication?

After watching a bunch of 4L80e builds, there is some disagreement as to the 'right' way to do things.
There is ONE thing that EVERY builder and parts manufacturers agree on and that is that the 4L80e is sensitive to END CLEARANCE and that this is what kills many of them.
Either I missed it, or on this build, NONE of the 3 critical end clearances were set or even checked.
If that is the case, then this is an example of how to build for a short life.

So after you put in the rear planetary into the case, there a few things you put in afterward without saying anything. What were those things?

I have a 95 4l80. Attached to valve body is a plate under the dipstick hole. I’d guess it limits how deep the dipstick goes. Any idea or input on that plate
