I just built a mobile shipping station on wheels, basically a standing desk with all my shipping supplies on two shelves underneath. I’m using a second monitor and my laptop both mounted above the desk surface on a swivel mount attached to the top. My Rollo is on the first shelf under the top, I have a yard stick screwed to the front so I don’t have to use a tape measure as often, I also have storage for rolls (tape, fragile stickers, bubble wrap) on the side, and the only thing on the desk top is a rubber diamond plate cover and my scale. Having everything within hands reach is key to maximize my time. Also now I’m shipping in my garage and standing so if it’s a little cold or hot and uncomfortable because I’m standing all of that will speed me up! My goal is to have my shipping done before 10am, my listing done before noon so I can go source in the afternoons.
Something very satisfying about building your own workbenches/shelving. Couple of tips for those interested - look into the Simpson Strongtie (available at HD) workbench/shelving kit (part number WBSK, or get the RTC2Z connectors separately). Makes building workbenches/shelving almost like working with Lego blocks. Also, I topped my workbenches with the cheapest ($17/box) wood laminate flooring that I could find. Painted all the lumber a satin black and used a blond laminate flooring on top. It looks great and the laminate flooring is easy to clean and nearly indestructible. Too bad lumber is three times the price it was a year ago. :(
I realized ive been following you for 5 years online. I first started awhile back working in my basement and got carried away with reselling on ebay i had to stop for awhile. Im thinking about getting back into it since i just got let go from my job and have all the extra time on my hands but have no space to work with anymore thinking about renting a storage unit and working in there.
This motivates me to get organize and create a better workspace thank you !! I looked at your list of supplies to use but I did not see anything about the magnets you added to the set up
