  • On todays video we visit the Olive Grove Cemetery in Santa Fe Springs, California. It is a small patch of land left behind by German Baptists that settles here in the late 1800's. There is a lot of mystery surrounding this cemetery because of the location. It is currently surrounded by industrial businesses in the area and looks completely out of place. I thought I would do some research and visit Olive grove for myself and pass the information on to you.

I’m a local truck driver and deliver to the building that’s right behind it. Was curious and decided to look it up the history on it. From what I know people volunteer to maintain it and place flowers on the graves .

The fact that the middle school like a block away is called "Graves" is just fitting. Though the school is named after Richard L Graves whoever that was/is.

I hope someone sees this and volunteers to go and clean up the overgrowth. Thank you for clearing up what I was curious about. I work for the school district just down the street, and would pass by that cemetery and thought it odd that it was there. I knew the explanation had to be something close to what you found out. Sad that it’s so lonesome like.

I work up the street at the business park and I see people come by and clean up on occasion. I guess it's maintained by whoever wants to do it.

You probably don’t know but research the old Quaker cemetery , it was located at painter avenue and Los Nietos rd . Now it’s all warehouse and buildings , but I remember it .

I used to work on Los Nietos Rd from 1975 up until about 2012. I would drive by the dunkard church daily on my commute. The locals knew it as being a dunkard church, even though a different congregation met there toward the end. I think the church building was finally demolished and the property developed around the mid '80s. I was sad to see it go, but by then it wasn't in good condition. Occasionally doing the landscaping work on the cemetery would make a great project for one of the local scout troops. Thanks for the memory lane road trip.

When I was very little I remember my parents would drive down painter. There was no buildings there just a very old abandon church next to the cemetery.

I grew up around the corner. I remember walking past this cemetery and the church on the corner when I would walk to Kmart and Fiesta Market that were across the street. I have some really good memories of that neighborhood. I would go to Shoemaker’s Candies and buy all kinds of stuff to sell at school. That was back when they had a storefront and sold to the public. Not even sure if they are still there.

There use to be a small palm type tree in the far back right corner that was covering a few head stones I dont see any more. Took some pictures and had a lot of anomalies in the pics. It’s sad they tore down that old church for progress. Seems people don’t care about their roots anymore. I tried my best to fix a few of the broken head stones. To no avail apparently

Yeah, if you stumble on to the abandoned mansion/house genre it’s very sad to see all the pictures, heirlooms, antiques, books just left to rot..the younger generations don’t want them or see value in them. It’s very sad. I hope some Good Samaritan nearby just mows and cleans this place up
