I am so glad to find this easy solution. I am a 73 yr old woman and owner of a 2018 CR-V. My interface has been driving me crazy for the last 2 years. Didn't go to dealership because of the wait times and inconvenience. Your explanation is so simple that even I can handle it. I was coming very close to getting rid of the car. Thanks a million!
You made my day when I saw your video. I had the exact same issue and worked. I went 2nd time to my car and turned on to ensure I am not dreaming. Lol. Thank you very much for this video.
Thank you!!! Fixed my 2018 CRV. My screen was stuck illuminated on a black screen but also wouldn't shut off after I turned the car off, so I was afraid it would drain my battery. I couldn't find any other solutions online and thought I was going to have to pay a ton at a Honda dealership to fix it. Not all heros wear capes. You're awesome!
95k miles in on my 2017 cr-v (no difference from the 19 model) and this started happening. I just need to say THANK YOU for watching the other video so we didnt have to. You mad the fix easy and i did it in under 5 minutes
Wow! Thanks. You saved me a trip to the dealer. Also thanks to the guy that said there was a pincher for pulling the fuse right in the fuse box. It did take a minute to reset so don’t panic.
It worked for a 2022 Honda Accord. It is number 24 in the engine fuse box. Blue 15. Also when you take off the cover of the fuse box there should be a diagram under the cover for you to see!
My husband just followed your directions here for my 2018 CRV screen and it worked 🙌🏼 Thanks so much for an easy fix that I figured would be way more complicated.
Oh my gosh. This fixed my 2019 Honda CR-V. God Blees you Ryan Olsen. I can’t even begin to imagine what someone would of charged me! I’m a subscriber now!!!!’
This worked for my 2018 CRV, thanks. Note: The fuse you recommended pulling and reinstalling is actually #19 on the Honda diagrams from the Internet and is identified as "Audio." Pulling it and restarting the car is like unplugging your cable box or printer.
Yes, that's what I said in the video, and linked to the diagram in the description as well. That particular fuse happens to have 15 on it, but I said slot 19. Makes sense that it's like unplugging a device like that.
Ryan, my wife and I have a 2019 CRV that started acting up today. As you said, I really didn't have much luck on youtube until I found your vid clip. So simple! I tried what you said and it worked. Thanks so much my friend and thanks for making it simple. The same as reboooting a TV or computer.
Can not thank you enough!!! This did the trick for the frozen display on our 2017 CRV. We were sure we were going to have to call our Honda garage. That would have been a $90 minimum labor charge. Thank you again.
Thanks for the vid! Our CRV had this happen yesterday and I did a quick search for a fix and yours was the first video that popped up. Saved us a trip to the dealership, my wallet and I thank you!
Honda probably does this to get folks to trade in or get service $. Our Civic has about 80k miles, display was on but unresponsive to tapping and blinked every few seconds. Doing your fix corrected the issue. Thanks very much for posting this!!!
I hope that's not the case, but you never know. I didn't try to bring it to the dealer to see what they would say, so it would be interesting to what see what they would do in this situation. I'm glad my video helped you out. Thanks for watching.
Our CR-V had the problem at 90,040 miles. Ryan's video helped us also. I hope Honda N.A. has not resorted to technicial sabotage to drive customers into the dealers, but it does raise the question. Such a finding, if brought to light, would seriously harm Honda's reputation, not to mention the legal consequences. It would also be something simple to accomplish through programming.
One thing I will say is that they very much stressed how we should seriously consider buying some kind of extended warranty due to there being so many electronics in the vehicle that could fail. That was the little room hard sell stuff they do when you buy a new car (we declined). I am curious to know if anyone has tried bringing the car in to see what Honda does.
Hey man!! Thanks it worked brother! Black display and no radio...pulled the fuse and did your procedure. Back up and running. Thanks a bunch man! Happy Turkey day to you and the family👍🏻☺️
My first time ever commenting on a youtube video because this was genius. This works! Follow the directions step by step. Thank you, thank you thank you Ryan!
Thanks so much for your clear and concise instructions, and for adding the link to the fuse box info. Fixed my frozen screen problem on 2018 CR-V EX-L in no time!
Thank you so very much! This saved my girlfriend a bunch of money. Just a heads up for everyone, on a 2016 it is the fuse marked on the diagram as backup, number 29. Doing it with the audio fuse under the dash doesn’t fix the problem.
It worked on my mom’s 2018 CR-V too! Her screen would load the Honda symbol and the driving warning before going completely black. Pulled out the Audio fuse, aka #19, turned the car on and then off before putting the fuse back in. Turned the car back on and everything works great now! Thank you for sharing the video
Ryan, Thanks so much for sharing. Just got home from work and my wife shared the EXACT same symptoms on her 2019 CR-V. I found your video, followed your simple steps and the screen was fixed. Can't thank you enough. JB
For what it's worth. I had a blank screen once on my 2018 CR-V EX. I turned off the engine. Turned the engine on and it worked again. Just in case you run into similar. Thanks for the video.
I'm so glad to hear that. If you don't mind, please update later if the issue goes away entirely for you (or if it returns). Ours has come back now and then. Frustrating.
Not that you're probably thinking about this anymore, but it turns out that this did fix the issue. I misunderstood and thought my wife meant it happened again, but the issue was the battery needing to be replaced in the key fob. Just wanted to clear that up.
Thanks for posting this video. Unfortunately, this didn't work on my 2018 CRV. Luckily, we got the extended warranty, so dealership put in a new radio.
I still have the same issue even after applying what the video suggests. I recently had to change the battery and fit it from Walmart. Not sure if the battery is causing any issues.
@@RyanOlsen well I spoke too soon BUT it was still the closest I got. My #19 fuse was empty and had no marking on the diagram. And I can’t seem to find a correct or helpful diagram ANYWHERE. Mines a 2021 though
Dude -- fabulous video. took me a whole 3 minutes to fix once I watched your video. two of those minutes were getting my needlenose pliers and walking to my sister's CRV. You rock. Thanks.

It would be great if this video got millions of views. I never would have thought making a last minute video would help so many people. That's great. They are simply making cars overly complicated now. There are too many components that can fail so easily; especially these sensitive computers.
@@RyanOlsen I was driving this CRV today after getting my other car to the paint shop. Then I saw the screen never came on. It was flickering black. I was like WTF. I had an idea it was either a startup malfunction or I had to take it to the Stealership. I tried holding down the power button and tried other things. What is really crazy is I just realized after 3 years, I don't think I can ever upgrade the head unit because this thing provides read-outs to everything in the vehicle! @@TraumaER Glad you got it working. Before I found this fix, I was told by my trusted mechanic and a reputable auto electric repairman that I had to take it to the dealer. I wonder what their fix would have been.
@@RyanOlsen probably do something similar and find a way to charge you some amount of money + time and aggravation. Took another car for a free recall almost 15 years ago and ended up paying $300+. I never go to dealer after driving car off the lot. Actually got into a fight with Honda dealer when I bought this CRV because of last minute price change.
Thank you, but...I am pretty sure you said #19 fuse, but then when you showed us, didn't you say, and show #15? We have a 2016, so I will look that up using the link you provided.
It's a 15 amp fuse in the 19th slot. If you watch again, you'll see numbers on the top of the fuses. The particular fuse that we're going for is between a 10 and 20 amp fuse (the red and yellow ones). It is blue and has the number 15 on it. Hope that helps.

Has the same problem with a 2018 CRV. Oddly if I changed the volume it would come back on for a few seconds and then go black. But I turned of the engine and turned it back on and it was fine - for me.
Great video. 2017 CRV. Took me a hot second to figure out how to open the fuse box. I was able to pull the fuse out easily with the white plastic plier that was attached to the lid. Unfortunately the reset didn't work for me. I guess my infotainment unit was not "frozen". The symbols lights up (home, map, phone, etc) and the Honda symbol goes on and off, but the touch screen doesnt work and my phone does not automatic connect to it (it used to). I had tried holding the volume button for more than 5 seconds but the reset screen never popped up. Mine might be dead rather than frozen (conviniently after my warranty expired). Most annoying part... the clock is off by 32 mins, my phone audio isnt coming through the speakers, and i can't control AC setting. 😢😢😢
So sorry to hear that. Ours was just out of warranty as well! Maybe give it another try 🤷♂️ If that doesn't work, please let us know what Honda has to say about this. Hope you get this sorted out.
Radio button & touch screen 'buttons' not working for me today, so I'm trying this on my lunch break! Just want to confirm: I am opening the hood & pulling the fuse while the car is ON, then turning the car off (with fuse out), then putting the fuse back (with car off) and finally turning the car back on. Is that right?
Watch again. You'll pull the fuse with the car OFF, turn the car on, then turn the car off. Replace the fuse, then turn the car back on. Hope it works.
Wow, that's great 🙂 I'm so glad that it worked for you. Just curious; is it the same fuse in the same location, or did you need to look up the location for yours on a different diagram?
How did u find out which fuse is for the radio? I’m trying to fix my radio in my accord. I just changed the battery in my ‘18 accord and the radio doesn’t work and a black screen. Only thing shows on that screen is when I go in reverse. I did try the power button hold for a few seconds. Any ideas?
Mannnn you are the fuckin best guider that I have ever seen. Nobody in my country could deal with it, and you with your short video did something impossible. Thank you!!!!!!!
I'm sorry to hear that. You sure you got the correct fuse? I don't know where it is on a 2018. The screen will be black when you start the car up when the fuse is out. Anyway, I hope you get it figured out. Thanks for the positive feedback on my video.

Is that right?
Watch again. You'll pull the fuse with the car OFF, turn the car on, then turn the car off. Replace the fuse, then turn the car back on. Hope it works.
Worked for my Honda civic!!! THANK YOU!!!
Wow, that's great 🙂 I'm so glad that it worked for you. Just curious; is it the same fuse in the same location, or did you need to look up the location for yours on a different diagram?
@@RyanOlsen it was in the same location! 😊
@@KristineElizabeth100 Thanks for letting me know. This could help someone else watching this video.

How did u find out which fuse is for the radio? I’m trying to fix my radio in my accord. I just changed the battery in my ‘18 accord and the radio doesn’t work and a black screen. Only thing shows on that screen is when I go in reverse. I did try the power button hold for a few seconds. Any ideas?
Just looked it up: www.startmycar.com/us/honda/accord/info/fusebox/2018#google_vignette Hope that helps.
Mannnn you are the fuckin best guider that I have ever seen. Nobody in my country could deal with it, and you with your short video did something impossible. Thank you!!!!!!!
Woo hoo! Glad it worked. Thanks for the compliment 🙂
My 2020 honda accord has the same issue screen is pitch black when the car is on would this solution work for that if yes what fuse for 2020 honda
Can't hurt to try. Look up the fuse box diagram for your vehicle to see where it is. Hope it works.
My driver's information interface went blank few days ago. Please, do you have a solution to this?
Its honda crv 2020
Did you try what I showed in the video?
Thanks a lot brother.. I did this and it worked for my 2019 ho da crv
Glad to hear it. You're welcome.
Didn't work with 2018 crv ex.. screen froze with letter H after battery change.. but your video is great
I'm sorry to hear that. You sure you got the correct fuse? I don't know where it is on a 2018. The screen will be black when you start the car up when the fuse is out. Anyway, I hope you get it figured out. Thanks for the positive feedback on my video.
I have a 2020 HRV wonder if this will work
Can't hurt to try. Just make sure you're pulling the correct fuse for that vehicle, as the placement may be different.
