I don't fly myself, but i do enjoy these trips out from Blackpool... I spend hours following the routes on maps and Google Earth... I recently watched the docu about John Wildey, the 77 year-old with no flying experience who landed a Cessna Skyhawk at Hull... at night and without being able to see his instruments... even more amazed having watched these vids...
6:24 Loved the little 'Battle of Britain' movie quote with the Spit coming out of the sun "Daggah - Daggah - Daggah - Daggah'! Robert Shaw i seem to recall.
What a lovely evening great stuff as always And I see you're following your instructors advice about the red lights at the runway end ( see your night flight vids) Good stuff
10:41 Poor ATC, she got chucked right into the middle of it and she shows. She definitely gave you 2500 and then corrected your correct readback down to 1500. Still, she got back nice and quick with the transit, so props.
She said 'not above 2000ft.' In the time that he repeated the information, the situation had obviously changed and she gave a new height as 1500ft. Maybe she could have explained the thinking behind her change better, but that would have taken up valuable time, and she clearly had other aircraft to think about... in the following message she told WBH to descend to 3000ft and then 2000ft, so maybe she already had that in mind when she changed the height info to 1500ft for G-HIGA
Hello Ben, nice video as always. I have a question that I asked about a fortnight ago, but i was late to the video and not sure if you saw it. My question is have you ever been to Enstone Airfield? It’s where I am learning to fly and its not too far from Sywell, and I think that its a really nice place to fly out of. Seems like exactly the kind of thing that you would enjoy doing for a day trip .
how did you manage to save to pay for all the training, I am currently towards the end of my ppl. Afterwards Im looking to complete the ATPL and Hour building within the 2 years. the question is did you have to save for the CPL, MEP and ME (IR) or applied for a loan. Cheers
Super.. Really like watching your vlogs.... You are a very accomplished PPL pilot Ben. I wish you well with the CPL route and perhaps one day see you flying an Easy Jet or Ryan air Airbus :-)
I assume he means the Whitegate basically in the middle of a triangle made by Northwich, Cuddington and Winsford. It sits right under the CTA step between Manchester and Liverpool CTRs. So he's asking to enter Liverpool CTR from the ESE at Whitegate
Just watched this for the first time. I like the nod to the Battle of Britain movie!

I haven’t been there but I’ll put it on the list!
It's nice as long as you miss the fence across the runway

You requested “routing Whitegate LPL” from the Liverpool controller. What/where is Whitegate? Cheers

When she said the height was wrong, I'm wondering if she meant she was wrong and not you. And I'm sure Blackpool ATIS said "Q and H".
