    What an excellent video. I just installed a DataDoubler with a 1TB hard disk in around 10 minutes following it.

    Is it possible to just plug in the ssd in the opticaldrives sata plug and just tape it in place without the adapter/bracket or caddy? Thanks

    @jsambuev you can upgrade the ram and hdd but apple will not cover the hdd or ram

    Instead of doing this can I use a usb enclosure and use my old hard drive like that? I know it won't be internal but would I be getting the same performance?. By the way I am using the OWC express enclosure.

    @Artaxerxes91 the optical drive isnt as needed as it was a few years ago. Car stereos use bluetooth to connect to ipods and some come with HDD. Far as movies and software goes usb flash drives fill in the blanks. In less than 10 yrs the Macbook air will be a standard.

    Totally thinking of doing this. All i've done to my mid2009 13" 2.53 is bump the ram to 8gb. For a laptop getting into her cougar years she easily keeps up with a lot of the low end new models today :) It's brilliant, I think the last time i even used the optical is when i boot camped win7 lol.
    Q, is there a weight difference after doing this? lighter? sorry if i missed that fact somewhere...

    Will installing the data doubler reduce the overall weight of the laptop? (Since the optical drive is removed, assuming that it is heavy)

    I was thinking of doing this with my mac. I currently have the stock 160 GB hard drive. My idea was to run OS X from a new 256 GB SSD and run Windows 7 or 8 on my stock 160 GB HDD. What do you think? I'd like to have your opinion. and is it easy to set up that way?

    I never understand - why people are installing Windows on MacBook? It's like installing the motorcycle engine on Ferrari.

    I have a mid 2012 MacBook Pro. I've replaced the optical drive with the crucial ssd. Once I turned on the device. I went to disk utilities and did not see the second ssd (1tb) but just my main ssd (also 1tb). How come?

    I had just installed my data doubler and it only recognizes the 2nd HDD when I'm in the OSX partition. When in Windows I cant see the 2nd HDD. Anyone know why?

    Can someone explain this to me?? If i put a second hard drive in a macbook pro to use one for OS X and one for windows does that mean to change between windows and OS X i simply hold the option key when starting up the computer to choose?? Im really confused here so please help :) thanks

    Hi Guys can you advise me please on what would be best update for my MacBook Pro mid 2009 ??? To replace HDD to SSD OR To change 2Bb Memory To 8Gb RAM , To make it work faster ? Thanks !

    • @WeMuckAround
      @WeMuckAround 8 лет назад

      SSD would increase the times opening applications and the boot process. If you were to compare a MacBook with a HDD and 8GB Ram to a MacBook with an SSD with 2GB Ram, it'd probably be roughly the same. Update both if you can afford it. But if not, the SSD.

    can you install other OSx than "el capitan" upgrading a 2009 macbook pro with ssd and 8gbRAM ?

    • @poweredbyowc
      @poweredbyowc  3 года назад +1

      Regreso al Bosque we are sorry to report that upgrading the MacBook Pro 5,5 with an SSD and more RAM would not allow the machine to take one newer OSx past 10.11.6 El Capitan, we do apologize.
      This is due to the software limitation that the machine supports with Apple's OSx releases.

    Optical drives are a thing of the past. No laptop will have them anymore in 2 years.
