- I'm finally back in New York City after a long quarantine and first things first I have to head down to NYC Chinatown to eat some of the best rice noodles, claypot rice, cheese tarts, fried dumplings, and a massive pork chop.

As a born and raised NYC girl, major points for heading straight to Chinatown, they definitely need love right now. I've been masking up and heading that way to get meat and produce when I can.

I have 2 daughters. One lives in New York and when I visited her several years ago she took me to Chinatown. I LOVED it! I got some great deals and ate some great food! It was so much fun!

i just finished my broccoli, green beans, pork, rice dish as he was removing those broccolis from his 😁 it's truly good, i just randomly throw them in foods 😄
When I used to go to Chinatown with my dad often we used to go to this dumpling place near like a parking lot they had some really good chive and pork dumplings 10-12 for 3 bucks. I haven’t been to Chinatown in probably like years since I live in jersey now see Mikey walk down all the familiar streets just brings back memories.
Mikey should make a restaurant called Strictly Dumpling

I just have to say....I just came to NYC yesterday, for the 1st time ever (I know...what a time to come right after the pandemic shutdown!), and I went to Noodle Village and King Dumpling, and got what you got/recommended, and I was so very PLEASED AND SATISFIED! I had never had nor tried dumplings until I discovered your channel, my family and I love them and I purchase regularly at my local H Mart. I'm going to learn to make them on my own because like you I'm obsessed with dumplings

@@richrichie7911 I follow my taste buds, not yelp. Also try friends and especially relative's recommendation which is the best. I chased a food critic's recommendation once took me to mission Chinese and gosh, kids tossing fried rice in wok with tongs. First time last time.

I just love your channel. Your comments on foods you tried show the real passion that you have for appreciating the foods those restaurants make, which is heartwarming to watch. I really wish you could come over to Hunan one day which is the province where I live and try some specialties that we have.

I know he said he was moving, but I thought he said he was gonna spend like 2 years traveling when quarantine was over. And I know he’s lived in like Cali too. This was a wonderful video. It reminds me of my childhood where i spent every saturday and sundays with my granparents. Every vacation even if it was just 5 days i would spend in new york in chinatown.

For real. Gordon can't even make a real Carbonara. For a celebrity chef of his background and experience to use CREAM for that dish is very disappointing.

A couple of years ago, when times were tight, we took a trip to NYC, and almost all of our meals were on Eldrige St., with "pay what you will" visits to the museums. Affordable, and very pleasant!
whoa this sounds nice. Never been to NY, so the idea is you go to the museum and you just drop off like a tip/donation for whatever amount?
Yeah. Like the met is one you can do that. Tourists typically don’t know that.
@@pandahok426 This was in 2008. Since then, the Metropolitan Museum of Art changed its admission policies so that non-residents have to pay $25 to get in. But a whole bunch of others are still "pay what you wish," and some are "pay what you wish" on certain days (MOMA on some Tuesdays, Whitney on some Fridays, etc.)

I know I'm not Mike but I regularly go to NY to visit my family and I'm a huge fan of Golden Unicorn, my sisters like Jing Fong, and Julia Tea and Dim Sum House. My uncle and aunts that live up there go somewhere else but I can never remember, it's like a family friend's restaurant or something. I would not recommend Nom Wah except for a quick visit cuz I'm not gonna lie, their prices are blown way up, the wait is long, and I'm not tryna front on them but their quality is not at the same level as their prices. I appreciate their historic context but I'm about balancing quality and affordability.
NYC is a ****hole ever since Governer Cuomo put all those re-indected covid patients back into nursing homes which makes up the majority of America's covid death toll. Thats why everyone is fleeing NYC to go to Florida. These Democrat governers need to be held accountable.

The dim sum in chinatown is actually pretty decent. If you are a tourist, I’d recommend you to bring a Chinese friend who can speak Chinese. The dim sum restaurants that are “english” friendly tend to be much more expensive and the food is generally a bit worse.
For the best experience, you can tell if the food is good depending if it is dry or not. Most the food is steamed so if the food looks moist(buns are an exception) it is usually good. Most the good dim sum have people moving carts.

Check out Urbanist, Here be Barr and Action Kid. They upload daily. And as of now a lot more is open in NY, liberty Island, empire state building, museums, bowling, restaurants (outdoor) shops, aquariums (I don't think you want to go there in Nov lol) but hopefully by then more can be open.

You can even plan ahead with a little research.

Mikey this episode reminded me of a while back! I was watching your Twitch Live Stream and you went to that rice ball restaurant and met some younger fans who wanted to say hello to you and you also visited that same exact dumpling restaurant.
