Very fun presentation of all of the lunch items. I especially liked their custom bucket. The tarte flambee looked so crispy. Even the bread was interesting.
It’s true what you say about the bread ! It goes along way and the fact that it comes with the sauce . This was an amazing & unique review on modern fried chicken 🙌🏼 thank you & I hope I can stop by some day !!!
You know I was waiting for this one! I've mentioned before, The Modern is one of my favorite restaurants in Manhattan! I've done the dining room a few times, the bar room more times than I can remember, and the kitchen table only once (but, an experience worth saving up a little cash for)! This is super playful and fun, and while I agree about bone-in, I think this suits the atmosphere perfectly. Thank you for putting yourself through the rigors of fine dining on all our behalves!
Once again you nailed it on this review. I have been there and tarte is amazing! Can’t wait to try the chicken! Again many thanks! Can’t wait for your next review!!!!
I know what you mean! It really is a great restaurant on so many levels. I definitely have to try the dining room one day and the kitchen table sounds like an amazing experience. Still, the bar room, is such a nice spot for a meal and it's always been a joy to dine there.
Hi James, Thanks for your video of your lunch at The Modern. I had never heard of fried chicken at a 2 Michelin Star restaurant! I love fried chicken and I would love to try this place. What a treat! Have a wonderful day and I always appreciate your reviews. Best Wishes, Peter
I like that the restaurant has added a playful element to their menu with that eye catching fried chicken “bucket”. Also surprising was the complimentary Fougasse bread. This bread is a rarity in most restaurants. Not sure why? Goes to show that the kitchen is willing to go far above and beyond the norm. A delightful experience enjoyed by us viewers. Good work, James.
Thank you! Yeah, I really respect just how much effort the restaurant puts into their bread. They always change it, and it's always unique and interesting. It's a detail that I really appreciate.
Great video as always! also remember that one video you did about Parrilla La Brigada in Buenos Aires? well it inspired me to go there (from Mexico where I live) and oh man! it was sooo good and such a great city too! Not as cheap as when you went there but it still is a trip that is very, very easy on the wallet! so thanks for that video and this one too!
Thanks for another great review. Everything you ordered looked amazing. It’s just tough to think about if you dine with a date two hundred for lunch is a lot. Yes it’s fine dining I understand but I think there’s so many places in the city to go a little less expensive. Glad you enjoyed.
My mouth is watering! Thanks for another fine review. Btw, I think the bread was their version of Fougasse, which I've often had from a terrific bakery while vacationing in Maine. Excellent choices all around. Ciao.
Everything from the bread on up looked amazing James. The banana pudding was the one thing that I would have ordered two of. That looked amazing. Thanks for another great review. Cheers
When I saw your empty bowl of the banana pudding, where you scraped every possible morsel, it really made me laugh out loud, thank you for enjoying your food so much.I also enjoyed your French Laundry video, it's on my bucket list ❤❤❤
Everything looked delicious. The cup of fries with chicken nuggets on top was a little disappointing because it was mostly fries. Oh well, glad u enjoyed it.
I agree, the tarte flambee looked amazing and not to difficult to reproduce. Do you remember the type of cheese used in the tart? I am happy to know that the yellow on top of the tart is egg and not cheese. Thank you for the detailed video along with food and menu close ups.
Another great review of a nice meal! Great presentation for bar food. The bread looked like a smaller version of a fougasse, a French bread speciality originating from the Provence region. It can be sweet or savory.
@@Jamesnu Should you ever travel Europe around this time of the year, we do have a fantastic annual marathon event here in Vienna/Austria. The Vienna City Marathon 24 is coming up this weekend, unfortunately though, the weather might not be perfect. It's rather cool this week. You give France too many credits, ‘fougasse or Socca a specialty of Provence -Alpes Maritimes (/Nice, Menton, Cannes etc..) were actually introduced to Italy (which then were introduced to France) by the Arabs. Hi James, you certainly believe in 'waste not, want not' ! All the guys washing dishes in the kitchens of NYC must look at your clean plate and say -" I think, James was here. The patron saint of dishwashers !" Looked like a very delicious meal. And we got some nature shots, which was a nice touch. Here's to The Modern ! Thank you for another fine food review, and all the best !
Haha! Thanks for watching! A clean plate is my goal!
Another delicious review! 😊

Are you using your iPhone for filming ?

Misha is now closed off. Makes me so sad. I wanted to go there.
I know what you mean. It was such a unique place!
Ironically I was on a video call with people in Taiwan when the 7.5 struck there a few days before we got the 4.8 in New York.
The New York earthquake really surprised me. I can only image how much more shocking the earthquake in Taiwan was.
@@Jamesnu Theyre used to earthquakes there. But 7.5 was their biggest one in 25 years.
Any interest in going to the newly open COQODAQ?
I definitely plan to dine there soon.
