It's just a shame what the cars of today have become . Nothing like the golden era of Bathurst and Australian touring cars . It's Gone.

      It's a bloody outrage, really.

@@HereIsMyOffer I'm 63, so basically I've followed Bathurst from the very early days. Breaks my heart to see the end of the Ford Holden era. My old man worked at Ford in Geelong (Product Engineering Plant) until he was 72. So I have a bit of a thing for Fords. I drive a Ford FG XR8 ute, and a SV6 Commodore, so I do have a love for the both of them. I also own an Audi S4 V8, which is by far the better car. LOL. But I love the Aussie muscle cars and I'll miss them terribly.

@@crustydownunder Nice! Yeah my favourite era was from about 86 to 96 I liked the turbo stuff and the variety! Johnsons EB Falcon and Brooks VR/VS Commodores were my favourites. Glad I got to see a few touring car rounds out at Wanneroo.

@@HereIsMyOffer I didn't mind the Turbo era, they were stunningly fast. And I loved the RX7 Mazda. That was quick, too. I had an RX4 back in the 80s, with a monster port 13B. It was unbelievably quick.
I was never fortunate enough to go to Bathurst, and I never ever got to see a round of the championship. But I watched every race on TV.

He love that massive big Ford 18 Liter GAA V8, it was the best engine in a Sherman Tank!
There are two Races in Australia which bring NZ to a stop; 1 Is the Melbourne Cup 2 and is Bathurst!

My sister and her husband bought an SLR5000 back in 74, Immediately fitted the bolt on flairs and American racing mags and it looked and sounded amazing.
He still has, and it's only about 48,000miles. Still all original and looks brand new to this day. He'd been offered $250,000 back in the 90s. I shudder to think how much it would be today.
My daughter sold a mock-up SLR a few years back for $40,000, and it wasn't a great example to be honest.
I wish I had kept some of the cars I had back in the day. I'd be a millionaire now 🙂

A brand of cars ability is surely measured over many race tracks not one . GO FORD . Brock was winning bathurst in the early 80s whils't dicky was whopping him at just about every other track the priveteer against the factory and dicky smacked them . brock on record as saying the c/ships were only practice as well as moff on record as saying if you don't have factory support there is no use in trying . how jealous were they of dickie . 81 82 84 dickie won all 3 titles when brock and his full factory outfit were at the peak of their powers .
