I have been using a echo srm225 for 6 years now under heavy commercial use. I have never had any problems out of it. Im still using it and it's running great! Beats a stihl any day.
Definitely a better running machine then my old Stihl. Haven't seen one comment with any problems so that really shows how great they are. Thanks for watching.
Love my Echo equipment too! I have a trimmer, a blower and a chain saw. My blower has given a bit of a problem, but a carb. rebuild kit solved that. My CS-301 chain saw has been a real treat. Always get use out of it and just used it to take down a tree at my girlfriends home. Had it limbed and down in 30 minutes. Thanks!
I also have cs 590 and cs 310 chainsaws that were bought 4 years ago and love them. Both easy to start and comfortable to use. Hoping to get a blower next. My Stihl backpack blower takes an 1/2 hour to start everytime couldn't even find someone to buy it on Craigslist. Thanks for watching.
Was a groundskeeper for a 10 million dollar estate for 5 years and went into business for myself last year up to 10 properties so keep your head up..any how I just bought this one and was very impressed with it...had 8 hrs on it and paid 100.00 ...best buy in a while...I got a little echo hand held blower as well and those two purchases are critical
I bought a SRM-225 about 10 years ago. Still runs like new. Edit: I was looking back and it was actually 14yrs ago now. I got it in 2007. I found a 2019 at a pawn shop and had to have it. Now I've got two.
I had my echo weed wacker for 12 years,I still havent changed the spark plug, still starts on 1 or 2 pulls it made it through a flood and keeps going....I lost an echo chainsaw in the flood...that was another great tool...I miss it.
@@stevescott1962 idk i was going to add an edger to my collection, never used one before and i know down the road i will be needing one , and i am leaning toward stihl but not 100% yet , we will see. Tks
I posted a comment on your video over 3 years ago and I was having a lot of shoulder pain from weed eating all day long in my company and I’m here in Miami fla that it’s none stop mowing I decided to give the Srm225 a try man best thing I ever did my shoulders feel so much better cause all I was using was echo srm 266 T and 2620T and 3020T heavy trimmers yes a lot of power but they were destroying my shoulders now I have 7 srm225 and srm2320 these trimmers are holding up so well it’s unbelievable also saving in gas aswell my guys love them as well for well maintained lawns like weekly’s a by weekly you don’t need much more power and we are taking probably a little less time trimming cause my guys and I don’t get as fatigue as when your using a havier trimmers in 100 digree weather people under estimate the 225 cause it holds up commercial work really well we do 75 to 80 properties a week.
These definitely are a sweet spot for power, weight, price point, and fuel consumption. I can't believe mine both still run great and are very easy to start after several years of use. Great little machines that will soon be illegal to buy here in N Y with the stupid green laws. Thanks for watching.
Bought a house 3 years ago. Got a ryboi trimmer as a gift. 1year later its done took it back. Replaced it with a top of the line troy built, I was in a rush. 2years later and lots of warranty repairs, I talked them into giving me a refund. I have an Echo pas 225 on the way! Pumped to have a good trimmer! Thanks for the review, and if your reading this, spend a little more and get an Echo!
My Echo trimmers and chainsaws have been great machines. They replaced Stihl equipment that I was never happy with. Buying from a good dealer provides extra peace of mind should an issue ever arise. Enjoy your Echo. Thanks for watching.
The Stihl that I used to have would not idle very long before shutting down. These Echos will idle for a long time with no issues. Thanks for watching.
I think Echo rocks. We ran a few of their 590, 400, and 310 chainsaws on 2 shifts non-stop for more than 2 months in order to clear debris left by Hurricane Maria down in San Juan. The city crews had Stihls, of course, but these were added given the monstrosity of the job. Let me tell you, the Echos killed it...guys were like 'hot damn!". Zero mechanical issues in 100% emergency recovery ABUSE. I'm definitely an Echo believer and home-use customer now as well.
Looking at buying a SRM225 off of Craigslist for $100. and looks to be almost new. I have a couple of Echo chainsaws, the CS-590-24" Timber Wolf and a little CS-310 for limbing trees. I've owned Macks and Stihls and a Homelite and all of them were problematic at least once a year. The Echo saws are trouble free with the TruFuel and I just bought a PB-250LN leaf blower for $75. used like new and it's a dream to use. Next will be an Echo pruner when I find the right deal... Echo machines start better than most other machines. Nice video.
I have the 590 & 310 saws also and love them. Next will be a blower. They make good working affordable equipment and l have a great dealer near by. Thanks for watching.
That is a bulletproof trimmer. Big box store or not. The one I own is 9 years old and have used it commercially for 8. This one will go down as one of the best.
When you make a video about an item like this and don't see one comment about an owner having problems, you know it is an exceptional tool. They are the best trimmers I have ever owned. Thanks for watching.
Well Hillbilly I bought the weedeater last thursday. My son mowed with the riding mower and I ran the Echo weedeater for 2 Hours. For a small 21cc motor that Echo will cut just keep it reved up good. Some grass around the storage shed was 2 feet high.I cut it in the middle first then to the bottom and then even lower. It was no stopping that Echo trimmer its a cutting machine for sure!We were really glad we bought it.My arms were sore the next day for sure after over 2 hours of hard cutting. So Decided I need a Harness.Ended up ordering a Limbsaver strap from Amazon coming today.Had a hard time finding a decent harness hanger like yours the few I found were really expensive. So the best one I found for a cheap price I got a Arnold harness for 8.00 with the Hardware to use I can mount on the Echo shaft to use with the Limbsaver Harness.Home Depot here in Virginia is my Echo dealer for all of the products and well stocked! Thanks again for the Video and I would say to any one else this is a great Weedeater to buy for sure. With my chainsaw and weedeater both by Echo am sticking with that Brand for sure just good products and reliability!
After a couple tanks of fuel it will run even better. A shoulder strap helps take some load off your arms for a big yard. Just use the right fuel mix and it will last many years. Thanks for watching.
My Echo weed eater is 20 years old it's an SRM210 and it has served me well. I did change spark plug air filter and fuel filter in that time but it still runs like a champ.
They make great tools. I have not seen any comments from purchasers with problems on this video that says a lot about how great their machines are. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for your video, like you I have two SRM 225s 2018 and 2019 one with the string trimmer head and one with the Echo 8 inch blade. One of them needed a new carburetor in less than a year "note the 5 year warranty did not cover the carb" But I had used it to edge all my beds by holding the string head perpendicular to the ground. Talked to Echo they said that might have been the cause. Bought both of these and a Echo blower from a big box store, couldn't afford the STIHLS and after your review gladI I couldn't. Even with the carb replacement cost still got two good pieces of equipment for less than the cost of one STIHL. Really like the Echos as your reported they are comfortable, not overpowered for my residential use. The 8 inch blade makes fast work of leveling wet day lilies and ornamental grass that just tied tied up the line feed. I use Echo Red Armour 50:1 pre mix in all my Echos. It is really expensive ($25 a gallon) but when I want the equipment to start I know the fuel is good stuff. Thanks for your review
Mine both still work good. l recently purchased a dewalt 20v to try and that is very uncomfortable to use along with having vibration and poor ergonomics. Echo got this model right and I also love their chainsaws. Thanks for watching.
My mom just gave me her srm 225 a few days ago, figuring out how to adjust the carb was the hardest part, since it’s a barrel carb and not the usual type, but once I turned the high speed needle out a quarter turn, she ran mint, and it’s a heck of a weed whacker for free!
I purchased one of these a few days ago based on your experience in this video. Did not know anything about Echo equipment, but others have good reports about this model as well, so can't wait to try it out in the next few days. What sold me was the easy way to string it up compared to the one I have now, but I also need something to deal with heavy grass, light brush, and brambles on my 3.5 acres. The blade kit looks to be difficult to get on and off, so I can see why you have two with one set up with a blade.
I take care of 10 acres with mine and love them. They are not overly powerfull but are the perfect ballance of power and weight for my needs. Just use high test gas and buy a tube of the gearbox grease. The blade changeover is a pain if you do it often. They also make a split shaft version that allows instant change over but costs 2x as much. It takes a while to get used to how fast the unit revs with the blade. I like the 3 wing cutter the best. Good luck with yours. Thanks for watching.
Speaking of that "canned fuel" - I've been using "TruFuel" mixed ~50/50 with pump gas in all my 2- and 4-stroke equipment for the last 7 years and I have to say that I'm impressed by the stuff. ALL my small engines still look and run like new (Honda mower and Hitachi leaf blower and weed-wacker mostly used). Home Depot puts it on sale about every 18 months and I buy a case of each and that lasts me perfectly from sale to sale. I recommend it highly. My string trimmer is dying this season (it won't run at less than full throttle and I can't figure out why) so I will have to look at these Echos - they look like good stuff. Thanks for the video.
You may want to pull the muffler and check for carbon. I go through many gallons of fuel each year and just run high test with or without ethanol depending how far I want to go. I always add marine Stabill to the can. The Echo trimmers and chainsaws don't seem to mind it. My Honda trim mower will run good on anything. These Echos just run extremely smooth and start very easy compared to the Stihl they replaced. I go through about 60 gallons of diesel and 25 gallons of gas a year in yard equipment so l am not very fussy. Thanks for watching.
I've been mowing over 100 lawns a week for 10 years and I have been using the Echo 225's for at least 4 years now. These machines are just as good if not better than the commercial grade deal I had been buying. Your problem is more than likely carbon buildup in your exhaust port. Take the muffler off and use a thick flat head but beware of scratching the piston. Oh yeah, pull the screen off the muffler. Think it requires 3 screws.
I didn't either until I started switching over from Stihl equipment. I have had excellent service from the trimmers and 2 chainsaws that I purchased from them. Plus maintenance parts are reasonably priced. I can't wait for the first red tomato after last years loss. Thanks for watching
Thanks for the information and the recommendation. Will run next week and buy my very first Echo trimmer. Had a Ryobi but that one became very hard to start so now, it is time to upgrade. Be well and thanks again.
I would look for a local dealer. They will start it up for you and tune it after a couple tanks if it needs it. Mine are still running great. Thanks for watching.
I want to get a new one but this model just work so well. I thought it going dead on me of a hard start but a filter change and throttle adjustment my business going again. Echo just seem to work.
Thanks, i've spent the last 4 days researching what trimmer to get... started out thinking either Stihl or Husquvarna, but i don't need problems and hard starting. Looks like this SRM 225 is pleasing everybody, and i really like that speed feed thing as well. Looking to do a few yards plus my own.
Mine still work great and start easy. Best thing to do is support a local dealer when buying one and use the echo oil and maintenance products for longest life. Thanks for watching.
On sale at Home Depot right now for $199. I bought one Friday night. So far, I love this thing. Plenty of power for what I do. I kept my old Ryobi head to run brush cutter, pole saws and my other Expand-It attachments. For trimming and edging, this Echo beats the Ryobi by a MILE.
Glad too hear that I'm not the only one with Stihl weed whip issues. My is at the repair shop, only 2 years old. One thing they said to me is that usually the problem is that they get dirty to easy. Makes sense I guess. May get it fixed, clean it up and sell it and buy an Echo based on your recommendation.
I sold my old Stihl to a landscaper that bought the coils in bulk because they had so many problems with them. I sold the stihl farm boss also and bought the Echo Timberwolf that is another great working affordable product. Just use high test fuel. I am extremely happy with the Echo equipment that I own. Thanks for watching.
I purchased a 225 to replace and aging 210 that served me well and was very satisfied until until I bought a 280. 225 got shelved quickly and became a parts donor for other Echo tools. Might have to get her out of the retirement home! 210 gave me a solid 8 years of heavy use and functioned when gifted away. Yeah back-ups are always a good thing.
Great review as always. I am still in the market for a new gas string trimmer. I'll have to go the store and try this one on. Most are SO heavy and too long for women unless they are very tall. That is why I switched to battery powered but I have to go through 3 or 4 batteries to get the job even partly done. Once I get that dirty, I just want to keep going -- but have to stop and recharge batteries. I DO know plenty of women do all the mowing and weed-wacking (at least in the country) yet NONE of the manufacturers have a single model geared toward us. It's like socks... you have to be happy with one size fits all. The curved shafts are cheaper and lighter BUT I find them very awkward to hold.
Both of mine still work good and start easy. Best thing is find a local echo dealer and look at the different models. They are all side by side so you can get an idea if they are comfortable for you. Dealers should be able to set you up with a strap, start it up to see it is tuned right, and show you how to refill the line. I have been using the dewalt 20v one I bought last summer around the house to keep fumes down and hate using it the way it strains my back. I use the echos out in the yard and prefer them. I think you are one of the few women left that is strong enough to do their own weed whacking on a larger area. Good luck finding one that fits you. Thanks for watching.
@@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 Thanks! HAha I tell myself everyday that I am super woman but age does start creeping up and there is so much to trim that I am almost crippled the next day. I bought a Southland wheeled string trimmer to try last summer but returned it. It was just too awkward to maneuver around. IF I could talk to my younger self I would say be kinder to your shoulders and knees. I've been stubborn all my life about getting stuff done - no matter what it takes - so I am paying for that abuse now. Oh, if we only had 10% of our life earned wisdom when we were young!
I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use ruclips.net/user/postUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.
I have a SRM 225 that is literally 20 years old and use it several times a week for about 20-30 minutes to trim around my 5 acres. I also have a stihl and honda, both on these are good but the stihl is as you said gas hungry and heavier, the honda is 4 cycle and starts ever time on first or second pull and very fuel efficient but the heaviest at about 15 lbs. Can't beat the Echo SRM 225.
It starts easy with very little vibration and is affordable. Those Hondas look real nice also but there aren't any dealers around me. Thanks for watching.
Very good video. I think we are on the same frequency as I bought a Echo SR225 abt 3 years ago also. I was so impressed I bought another one. These things are "Beasts" ! Got a Blade kit also. I figured how to mod table saw blades to work with them. They do great ! Two pulls and I'am off and running !
I found the blade with teeth was easily destroyed by the rocks around my pond. The 3 wing one just hits the outer edge and stays sharp. They make great machines, my Cs590 & Cs310 saws are awesome and dependable also. Thanks for watching.
Nice unit. As you indicated before that using good 93 test gas or above is the way to go with any Lawn product engines. These echo products seem to be very good for medium length run times. Can't wait for your planting videos.
I see a lot of lawn services around here switching to them lately. I think having a great dealer in the area helps. Hopefully next week. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the review. I have been considering either this Echo or the similarly priced Husqvarna model. I think I may go with the Echo, when my little Ryobi finally quits. I noticed your deck boards are a little chipped. I have had excellent luck with the "Behr Deckover". Pretty pricey but a good product. Still have to due the proper prep-work, but seems like it's going to hold up better than the other stuff I've used in years past.
I have had excellent luck with my Echo products and if you read the comments everyone else has also. I looked into the deck over for my front deck and was told with it having direct sunshine deckover was not the best choice and if there was a problem with the finish in a couple years your on your own. Shoveling snow is tough on any finish around here and the stain can just be touched up. Thanks for watching.
I've had good luck with my Echo leaf blower. I have a Stihl weedwacker, agree with you on the vibration. Feels like a 4-cycle engine even though it's 2-cycle.
My hands would actually become numb from the vibration of the Stihl and it was a $500.00 machine. Both these Echos are very comfortable to use. Thanks for watching.
Thanks a lot for the Video.Think I am going to buy this ECHO weedeater this month as the Reviews are real good and watching the performance looks to trim real good. Also have the ECHO 352 Chainsaw so might as well stay with the ECHO brand seems like they build a great product.Last weedeater I bought was a Stihl and had nothing but problems with the gas line ans gas tank constantly leaking. Thanks again!
I have been very happy with my Echo products since switching from Stihl. I also have the 590 and 310 chainsaws that I love along with a great local dealer. Going to get one of their blowers next. Thanks for watching.
I’m sure you’re aware, but if you ever want to/need to tune the carb for better performance there are a few video on RUclips on how to remove the plugs the cover up the set screws. Also, love my echo trimmer and blower. Good products.
Thank you for the video. I just bought a Echo SRM 266. Looking to buy a second for the same reasons you did. What is the strap you bought? I noticed you have a piece of pad on the back.
Nice review. I’m in the market for a new trimmer to replace an old cub cadet four stroke. Was looking at Husky’s as I love my Husky chainsaws, but the reviews on their trimmers weren’t good overall. My dad swears by his Echo trimmers, may just have to get one. Thanks and have a great day!
These were awesome trimmers without any problems. I have recently switched to m18 Milwaukee trimmers and really like the battery ones too. Thanks for watching.
Perfect timing! I AM looking for a trimmer and the not-terribly-helpful guy at HD recommended the Echo. I wanted to buy one because they are made about 20 miles from where I live. I was not sure a string trimmer can go through the pasture weeds we have, but the blade that you showed just might! Glad to know that it has reliable start. Pulling those string start motors are really hard for me. Now, answer me this: will it cut through weeds like goldenrod and milkweed? TIA!
Suzi Scholtz Bought a 225 last night from Ace hardware.HIGHLY recommend. Dont get from home depot. Get from a dealer like I did who will register your warranty and test run it for you.At home depot they give it to you in a box.Used mine today for the first time. 5 stars love 3cho products.Do not buy Stihl.
When you buy from a dealer they will take good care of you if problems arise ,and they make sure it starts and runs properly. Mine cuts through cattails and pond reeds no problem but you may be better off if you get the split shaft pas version if you plan on changing between a blade and string head often. Talk to a dealer and see what they recommend for your yard.
Unemployed Redneck Hillbilly Creations The 225 comes in several versions,, standard curved shaft, easy start curved shaft, curved shaft bump head then theres the srm 225 straight shaft at 199.00. I really like my straight shaft with speed feed head.I think the guard could be bigger as it slings stuff in your face easily.
The straight shaft is for taller users and has better reach to get under trees. That is why I bought that face screen. My Stihl had a bigger shield and threw up just as much debris so I don't think size matters.
My power equipment dealer advised me when I bought my 225 from him that it is not really designed in the long term for using a brush blade on it. Seems that the brush blades induce more shocks to the cutting head gears and bearings than when weed whacking and those shocks over an extended enough time will take it's toll. He said the unit is not designed for extended brush cutting.
Mine didn't say anything 4 years ago when l bought the changeover kit. Just said to keep it greased. There is no play in the gearbox yet and I think the drive cable helps with the shock but there seems to be less load on it with the blade then the string head because the cut area is smaller. Time will tell. Thanks for watching
I have a lawn company we use the bigger echos all echo are great and are bulletproof as long as you use echo or stihl and husqvarna oil they will last for ever my pops has a echo trimmer that is 40 years old and was used commercially for 20 years and the thing still runs unbelievable let's see a stihl last that long.
I've got a Shindiawa T 270 and I'm thinkin about getting the Echo SRM225, leave the Shindiawa for heavier work (she's kinda chunky herself) and the Echo for run of the mill Weedeating.
I just got a new srm 225 the other day, and interesting that they are changing or updating certain features over the years with this model, no more grease port for the gearbox by the head, it's totally sealed up on the one I have, no longer serviceable. Hopefully that doesnt affect the longevity of it! How are these holding up for you in the year since this was posted? I really like mine so far, very powerful unit for the weight and displacement!
You have to buy the kit from a dealer. Not real powerful but has worked good for my needs. For heavy use I would buy a specialized model with the big handle, solid shaft, and more horsepower. Thanks for watching .
I have been using this for 5 years with no maintain. I think I chain the filter and plug once. This week I had problem starting. Just remove the spark plug and brush clean, back at work again. Use for this model for 24 houses every week. I don't winterize, ever.
I love the arm 225 used professionally and so I bought one my self last year now in not in the lawn care business unfortunately I have it tore apart in the shed due to piston ring burnt out probably didn't mix my gas right :(
A mechanic who serviced my 225 a few months ago told me that I needed to run this machine at full throttle. I told him that after several years of using this 225, I always used the speed according to the job in front of me. What's your opinion?
Never heard that before. I was told not to run it at full throttle the first couple tanks then run it according to the load. Just be sure to use the correct oil mix. Seems like running full throttle all the time is just wasting fuel and shortening engine life. Thanks for watching.
@@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 I agree, I did not believe him, plus he said not to pump the bubble at all it gums up the carburetor. Needless to say I never brought my echo back to that place.
I have this exact trimmer and whilst it is good and even better than many, I would take the Stihl equivalent any day. More carb adjustability is the main reason. Thus is my second Echo trimmer over the years otherwise I have had Stihl for other trimmers, blowers and saws. Just like Stihl better and never had an issue with one.
I would never go back to Stihl. The Echos start easier, have less vibration, cost much less for maintenance parts, and sip gas compared to the Stihl equipment they replaced. Plus having a great dealer nearby is a big plus. Thanks for watching.
Mine both start first pull when hot. No choke, no gas just pull and let it idle. I use 93 octane stabilized fuel with echo oil. Your dealer should look at it if its almost new like that. A good dealer will check that no one messed with the carb settings verify correct rpm and tune after a couple tankfulls if there seem to be a problem. Thanks for watching.
Nice machine and review, approx what do they cost? Most 2 cycle instructions say to use premium but most people won’t spent the extra pennies even though it’s better for the machine.
This one was $199.00. Less then 1/2 of what l paid for the Stihl it replaced. I only use high test in all my small engines and add Stabill marine to every can. Thanks for watching.
I looked online at Home Depot and they get $50 more than your local dealer. Buying from the dealer is always better, they care about your satisfaction, big box stores just don’t care unless you wallet is spilling new money.
Ya, switched over from a Liar-obi (Ryobi) lithium after loosing a $100 battery to being in the garage. Saw to purchase a new one was crazy, and the previous generation you can't find in Horny Derpo. Really tired of battery operated lawn equiptment ... so went back to gas. Used this unit yesterday and despite being significantly louder (fuck my neighbors to be honest), my yard looks awesome. Gas is so much better than battery.
Awesome, I'll be sure to watch them all. I'm interested to see what you do with your Greenhouse. Have you thought about building a cattle panel greenhouse?
I have this model and for some reason it comes a little underpowered so I tuned it higher lol. Just don’t touch the carb if you have no knowledge on how to adjust one because frying the piston is easy if you tune it too lean
That's why you find a good dealer and most will retune them with a tach for free after the first couple tanks of gas to break them in. Thanks for watching.
I haven't tried that. I have never had a problem with the standard Echo oil with Stabill marine ethanol stabilizer that I use in everything. Is the Red Armor compatible with Stabill marine stabilizer? Thanks for watching.
@@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 Dont know. I know of no one who uses marine stabilizer in lawn equipment so the question never came up. Why would you need that? The Red Armor oil has a great stabilizer in it already.
The black marine stabilizer is the best stabilizer for any fuel containing ethanol. I add it to any fuel that I buy and I have stored fuel in my big generator for 4 years with no problems and never had a fuel problem in any small engines since it was recommended to me and I started using it over 10 years ago. I stabilize all my fuel with it when purchased and know not all additives are compatible so I just use the plain oil in my Echo trimmers and chainsaws.
I have a friend that loves his Echo. I have a couple of gas-powered Cubs. But both of them have had the pull-start mechanisms fail. Guess what? You can no longer get replacement parts for the pull-start! Screw that. Went to a heavy duty electric-powered trimmer. Never looked back.
I agree with you, use whatever works best for your situation. I use a generator and electric yard tools where I can, but with 10 acres about 900 ft x 600 ft these Echo's are the best for my type usage. Thanks for watching
Did you buy it from a small dealership or Home Depot? Mine throws in extras and lets you bring it back for a tune once broken in. Big box stores don't do that. Thanks for watching.
I have one that would never start, so I purchased Stihl...still have the Echo, looks like new, hanging in the garage. Was told the carburetor needs to be reworked and the repair is more than what the unit originally costs, so that is what made me buy Stihl a few years ago.
My stihl wacker needed a $150.00 coil after a couple years use so that is why I switched over. I saw it was a common problem after they moved the coil manufacturing to China from Germany. That would be covered under warranty and my dealer would have fixed it for free. Thanks for watching.
You can buy news carbs with tons of extra tune up kit stuff for like 15 bucks on amazon with free shipping... And they last really long time... Can send a link if you want
looking to buy a new trimmer and stuck on echo or 4-Cycle 30cc ryobi. anyone have experience with the ryobi. i have a ryobi now( not sure the modle but have had it for a good 4 or 5 years and has been great. just need more power and looking for something that takes attachments ) thanks in advance
Not sure what the difference is between the SRM225 and the SRM230, but I own the 230. Until this year it started ad ran fine. This year it refused to run on anything more than part throttle. Echo has discontinued so many parts that it's getting difficult to find replacements for a 6 year old machine. My local dealer didn't have a diaphragm kit and couldn't order one until he got a minimum order together. Ordered a diaphragm kit from direct from Echo, still waiting two weeks later. Purchased a new Zama carburetor off of eBay and received 3 days later. 5 minute replacement time and a couple of pulls of the starter and I'm running again. Echo makes nice equipment, but with the junk fuel offered today, as my lawn equipment goes toes up, it's going to be replaced with electric tools. Started last year with the handheld blower with a Milwaukee blower and haven't looked back.
I run high test in all my small engines. Most modern ones don't need it but the older ones really need it to perform right. Mine have been great also. Thanks for watching.
Ther start easier, run with less vibration, have lower costs maintenance parts, and use less fuel then my old Stihl equipment. I would not go back. Thanks for watching.
I love Echo. I use that machine with the black diamond line and its great. Also have an echo backback blower and a hand held blower.
Do you think this machine will work on tall weeds on a farm because I was thinking about getting the 3020t
I bought an SRM225 from HD recently. Used it a few times. Starts easily, runs well and not too heavy. Very nice trimmer.
I really like mine and they both still run good. I think they are one of the best value in trimmers available. Thanks for watching.
I got one use at an estate sale about 3 years ago. I paid 15$ for it and it's been worth far, far more. Great vid
You got a great deal. I love how easy they start.
Thanks I just bought one
Starting a landscaping business got my first lawn and im cutting the grass for the first time tomorrow.
From the comments everyone loves these trimmers. Good luck with your new business.
I think they are the best trimmers made now. Thanks for watching
I had my echo weed wacker for 12 years,I still havent changed the spark plug, still starts on 1 or 2 pulls it made it through a flood and keeps going....I lost an echo chainsaw in the flood...that was another great tool...I miss it.
@@bjkjoseph wow , now i am seriously considering echo srm225
Tks
I bought one last summer, and it won't run, even with a brand new carb smh
Great little machines that will soon be illegal to buy here in
N Y with the stupid green laws.
I love the way my Echo sounds when idling over a Stihl.
I have a 590 and 310 also and they are great saws. The Echos are so much better than the Stils that I used to own and use. Thanks for watching.
I have had one for 7 years and it works great
For the price point Echo makes great products.
Bought both of these and a Echo blower from a big box store, couldn't afford the STIHLS and after your review gladI
I couldn't.
It will probably last you for years. I can't kill mine. Thanks for watching.
Great job and thanks for taking the time to produce a very informative video. Liked the idea of the screen protector vs goggles also.
These have been great affordable trimmers. The screen is much more comfortable to use when you wear glasses. Thanks for watching.
I didn’t realise that echo made such high quality machines. Look forward to your gardening videos. I hope the tomatoes work out ok this year.
I didn't either until I started switching over from Stihl equipment. I have had excellent service from the trimmers and 2 chainsaws that I purchased from them. Plus maintenance parts are reasonably priced. I can't wait for the first red tomato after last years loss. Thanks for watching
I've had them all.(Stihl, Echo, Shindaiwa, redmax, Husqvarna) For price and durability. Echo is number one.
Definitely a much better machine then my old Stihl was at 1/2 the price. Thanks for watching.
They are a great machine. Thanks for watching.
Mine are still running great. I once had a ryobi and gave it away because it vibrated bad and made my hands numb. Thanks for watching.
Both of these are still running good. Echo really has an affordable product line for all situations. Thanks for watching.
I have an Echo Blower, String Trimmer,10 Foot Pole Saw and just purchased and Echo Chain Saw, Great Products!!
I have the 2 trimmers, a cs590 & cs310 chainsaws. They all are great machines. Thanks for watching.
i used to own a lawn service and used echo hedge trimmer weed eater edger and blower all
echo loved it
They make great machines that last.
They are good machines. I have switched to battery Milwaukee wackers now and really like them. Thanks for watching.
I have 2 of the SRM 225 trimmers also. Ones 2 years old & the other one is 5 years old. Other than tune up's never any problems from either one.
They are definitely well made and affordable. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the good review!! I just bought one for myself and I'm very happy with it! Stihl was just getting way to expensive.
These are much better machines than my old Stihl was. They both still run great. Thanks for watching.
I just purchased a GT-225. Partly based on your recommendations for ECHO products. Pleased with its performance. Thank you.
Glad you like it. These echos both still start and run great. I would never go back to Stihl.
Definitely cant go wrong with ECHO equipment. Good choice!
Echo definitely makes reliable affordable products. Love their saws also. Thanks for watching.
Had my Echo srm-2305 for ages 15 years + cant really remember how long, and it hasn't missed a beat. was made in Japan, not sure now.
Good choice.
I am guessing China with a Japanese designed engine but not sure. They do run great. Thanks for watching.
Assembled in usa
I have a 20 yea old echo it still runs great
I am sure these will still be running in 20 years. Thanks for watching.
Very nice! I'm a big echofan. The best leaf blower I've ever owned is a Echo, and that includes Stihl. Thanks for the video.
I also switched to Echo from Stihl's and would never go back. Thanks for watching.
The echo with the blade attachment looks beasty
It definitely has the ability to take on tougher weeds. Thanks for watching.
I am looking at this trimmer because the 2 echo chainsaws have been good. I purchased a stihl and have not been satisfied with it.
No problems with these or my 2 echo chainsaws yet. Definitely better then my old stihl equipment .
I can just take it back to the dealer and he sets it with a tach after the first couple of tanks so the warranty is not voided. Thanks for watching.
Thank you for the video. I just bought a Echo SRM 266. Looking to buy a second for the same reasons you did. What is the strap you bought? I noticed you have a piece of pad on the back.
It was a strap the dealer gave me. I just asked if he would throw in a strap and he pulled it out of a drawer in the back. Thanks for watching.
Unemployed Redneck Hillbilly Creations I had an old Stihl that had a big half moon shaped shield on it and worked good.
Good points. Good review. Well done. Thank you.
They are great affordable machines. Thanks for watching.
I agree. These start easier, run smoother, and use less fuel then my old Stihl did. Glad I switched. Thanks for watching.
I've got a Shindiawa T 270 and I'm thinkin about getting the Echo SRM225, leave the Shindiawa for heavier work (she's kinda chunky herself) and the Echo for run of the mill Weedeating.
Both these Echo machines have been great machines. I would recommend them over Stihls any day. Thanks for watching.
Echo THE BEST LIGHT AND VERY GOOD ..LAST LONG TIME👍👍💯🤝🏼
They are amazing. Thanks for watching.
Both of them are still running great. I just grease the angle gearbox every year and no problems yet. Thanks for watching.
Thanks Dude...I was wondering if this echo would take a brush blade...100% YES
You have to buy the kit from a dealer. Not real powerful but has worked good for my needs. For heavy use I would buy a specialized model with the big handle, solid shaft, and more horsepower. Thanks for watching .
my dad bought one we love it
Great affordable machines. Sad that they are banned along with all small ICE engines in some areas now. Thanks for watching.
I have been using this for 5 years with no maintain. I think I chain the filter and plug once. This week I had problem starting. Just remove the spark plug and brush clean, back at work again. Use for this model for 24 houses every week. I don't winterize, ever.
I see a lot of commercial lawn services using them around here. I think they are great machines. Thanks for watching.
I love the arm 225 used professionally and so I bought one my self last year now in not in the lawn care business unfortunately I have it tore apart in the shed due to piston ring burnt out probably didn't mix my gas right :(
You should check if there is any kind of warranty coverage. I know that new E15 gas can also cause problems like that. Thanks or watching.
Great video
They have both been great working machines. Thanks for watching.
No problem, keep up the great work and thank you I’ll be getting one of those bad boys soon
I get all my echo equipment from a dealer! I like hearing them fire it up before I leave.
I have a great dealer and agree totally with you. Thanks for watching
Echo 3020. Full tank last me 2 hours + amazing
They sure are efficient.
Can i use edger on this srm 225 if not which echo brand is trimmer and edger.
Tks for great video and information
I think you need one of the pas units for an edger. Best brt is visit a local Echo dealer and see what they recommend. Thanks for watching.
They have a 5 year consumer and 2 year commercial warranty idk if thed consider you commerical or consumer. Might be a tricky fine line there
It's only my own 10 acres they are used on. Thanks for watching.
i'd like to get a strap on my Echo srm-225, did you disassemble yours to get the clamps on?
Just stretch it open. Thanks for watching.
I love these they are the best !!!
I love both of my srm225s
Love mine also. Both still run good with no problems. Thanks for watching.
The carbs are adjustable. You just need to know how to remove the inhibitor plug. Blame the EPA though, not the manufacturer.
How about one ahead of a 2 months it runs and then it get hot and then it'll be hard to crank then when you let it cool down it'll crank up easy
Some places only have the 87 octane available though.
my echo 225 string to pull start wacker pulls to easy not catching to get compression to start what is the problem
Your dealer should be able to tell you. check when you bought it and It may be under warranty,. Thanks for watching.
I love echo product myself
They are very easy to start and run so smooth. Thanks for watching.
These definitely work good but do make a little noise and exhaust fumes. Thanks for watching.
Good job 👍
Thanks for watching.
i used a echo 20 yrs ago. never looked back on the trimmers
I am very happy with their trimmers and chainsaws. Thanks for watching.
Hey there! Hows the garden coming this spring? Have you done any plantings this year?
Working on it now. Should have a video the end of next week. Thanks for watching.
Awesome, I'll be sure to watch them all. I'm interested to see what you do with your Greenhouse. Have you thought about building a cattle panel greenhouse?
Trying to figure out how to use that old tent frame. Just have to shorten it down so it doesn't catch so much wind.
There’s an 8 year old one with a different type of trigger and it also has the echo bump head rather than the speed feed
There are many older ones still in use. Thanks for watching.
I'm a dealer and I highly recommend using the Echo Red Armor oil in the fuel. It does make a difference and has a good stabilizer in it too.
@@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 I see. Cool. I never played with the stuff but if it's working for you, rock on!
Is non-ethanol gas available in your area?
That is what I use in my home power equipment.
If you want to drive 30 miles. I mostly just use high test with Stabill marine. Thanks for watching
No Sir, not worth the 30 mile drive.
i use mine all day cant beat it
They are great machines. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for watching
mine didn't come with glasses and 2-strok oil.
Did you buy it from a small dealership or Home Depot? Mine throws in extras and lets you bring it back for a tune once broken in. Big box stores don't do that. Thanks for watching.
home depot@@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
Support your local dealer and should there ever be issues they are there for you plus some extras when buying if available from the manufacturer. .
Echo srm 3020 👌
That's a big one. Thanks for watching.
Good video sir...thank you..
Great affordable machines that last a long time. Thanks for watching.
Videos like this is what humanity should do........

looking to buy a new trimmer and stuck on echo or 4-Cycle 30cc ryobi. anyone have experience with the ryobi. i have a ryobi now( not sure the modle but have had it for a good 4 or 5 years and has been great. just need more power and looking for something that takes attachments ) thanks in advance
I would buy Echo. They have a nice PAS series that take many attachments. I definitely recommend buying at a local dealer. Thanks for watching.
Mine still run great. Don't buy the new dewalt 20v trimmer. It sucks. Thanks for watching.
Anybody got a review on the ECHO SRM-230 Straight Shaft 2-Stroke Gas Weedeater as opposed to the SMR 225
The 225 is a fantastic machine, I wouldn't expect the 230 to be much different. Thanks for watching.
Great review!
They both have been great trimmers. No problems at all yet. Thanks for watching.
Thank you.
Thanks for watching.
My weedwacker just died this weekend thanks!
I really like this model and would reccomend it. Thanks for watching.
I have good reports on Echo gear. Hope this works well for you!!!
I have 2 of their saws and 2 of their wackers and would never buy another Stihl product after using them for a couple years. Thanks for watching.
Found it, thanks.
They both still work great. Thanks for watching.
They dont even need hi test gas they run great on reg. i used mine in my landscaping bis n got 6 years outta it !
I run high test in all my small engines. Most modern ones don't need it but the older ones really need it to perform right. Mine have been great also. Thanks for watching.
Echo is awesome better than Stihl maybe not as powerful
Ther start easier, run with less vibration, have lower costs maintenance parts, and use less fuel then my old Stihl equipment. I would not go back. Thanks for watching.
Stihl equipment seems to get out performed by lower power equipment from other manufacturers.
Buddy came over thought i bought a kx 65 when i had it idling in the back 😉
They definitely have a nice sound. Thanks for watching.
