Miltoniopsis Care - Removing Old Flower Spikes and Re-Potting

- The Miltoniopsis Orchid has finally finished showing off. Now we can take some time and show it some love and attention. First we will remove the old flower spikes and then we will re-pot it.

I hustled a free one from Albertsons. The flower spike it had was shriveling and the leaves at the bottom were torn and beginning to decay. I had to cut of that leaf at the base of the pseudo bulb. Some really abused this poor plant. So far I'm letting it sit in water because it was in super dry medium.

Hi Bill - I have the same Miltoniopsis minus the fern, I bought it a couple of weeks ago and it's still in bloom. glad you did this video because I needed to repot it when it's done blooming ;}

For some reason, these do better for me than phals. My phals limp along and the miltoniopsis chug along happily.

so I bought a Miltonia and it LOOKS like the Miltoniopsis you have , it has several buds but I can't tell the difference yet. I have seen several videos on the two and they are different! I am giving this one to my Mom for Mothers Day and I hope I can show her how to care for it. Now I want a BUNCH of them! LOL!! They are so pretty!! Thanks for the video!
+Miss Robin Martz Most orchids they sell as Miltonia are actually Miltoniopsis. So don't work yourself with finding a difference, there is none.

amazing roots, can you tell approximately how often did you water and fertilize it and since when you have it?
I bought this orchid last spring/early summer last year. It was discounted to 5 dollars... I water this orchid once a week maybe 2 times a week if it needs it. I am not really good with feeding... I always forget.
That is a really pretty orchid, the flower kinda looks like a pansy.
That's actually its common name.. "Pansy Orchid'

#1. Do you mix fertilizer with supliments/ Nutraits ?
( When i say fertilizer i mean ** MSU/ Berrer grow / any NPK when i say supliment / Nutrients i mean Calmag / Cal nit/ Sea weed / Epsom salt )
My next Q is
#2 Do you mix epsom.salt with cal nit ?
Oh gosh, i killed my miltoniopsis. 5 pots and they are gone now. Its so hard to find them in my area and its sad.. Please do some updates on yours.. I need more advice how to grow them..

+MaryG Orchids I have one spike in bloom right now... not nearly the show I had last year... I did have an update on my miltoniopsis a month or 2 ago... I'll try making another one before the blooms are finished
