Kpop is often most creative music in the industry. There’s definitely a formula but the *creativity* in each section of a kpop song is crazy. There’s so many layers and elements that western pop doesn’t explore. Super inspiring and fun!

Blackpink. It's Kpop. One of them spent much of her younger years living in Australia. One other spent a decade in New Zealand and Australia. Lisa (the one who raps in this one) is Thai.

- You are right Lisa is Thai . Lisa moved to Korea at 14 to join yg. Her mom is Thai and her stepfather is Swiss.
- Jennie was born in Korea. Both parents are korean. Only spent 5 yrs in New Zealand to study there and went back to Korea after 5 yrs.
- jisoo was born and raised in korea. Both parents are korean. Never live overseas.
- rosé was born in New Zealand and both parents are korean. Her family moved to Australia during her younger years. And went back to Korea at the age of 16 to join yg.

FYI, Lisa, the girl that raps, can speak 4 languages (Thai, Korean, English, Japanese). She is the first non Korean in "Kpop". The other 3 speak 2-3 languages. They are not only talented but educated as well.
You should look up the analysis of a priest whose sister was a double major at Oxford and she breaks down what all the symbolism means in this music video. At the beginning is the torso and wings of the Greek goddess Nike that's often placed in front of medieval theaters. The way they showed scenes of them under sea and dark "underworld" and the funeral. This is the story infused with Persephone, Hades' wife, with the different seasons also showcased in the video, and the story of Arachne, with the spider themes. You see the umbrellas and such too. Then there's the Trojan horse at the end. It's crazy the amount of effort put into not only Kpop music videos, but their training in dance, music, history, languages, etc. usually starting in their preteen years that people miss in this. It's not just to look pretty.

After that video, I started paying more atention in the visuals and it's relation to the lyrics and boy, k-pop goes all the way in. It should be Just pop... honestly, it's WAY above ocidental pop in terms of quality. I am now converted to kpop instead of just pop, which was always a "so so" genre for me lol
