JANUARY 2023 - And we're back in the Bavarian Alps, to bring you one of the very best cable cars in Germany. The Nebelhornbahn in Oberstdorf takes you to the highest peak in the entire Allgäu region. (That region and this mountain are obviously very well-known in Germany, judging by the number of people I saw there... but I think most foreigners like me have never heard of it!). I was travelling to the Bavarian Alps in winter to see some snow, and this video shows how high you had to go this winter before seeing any :(
I would definitely recommend a trip to the Nebelhornbahn, this is a mountain that you can easily go and visit with the Deutschlandticket / 49 Euro Ticket, since the trains from Munich are all Regional Expresses. I did the same before the Deutschlandticket existed (I had to buy the BavariaTicket though).
I'm glad that I made this Germany travel experience in winter, but I would also definitely go in the summer and enjoy the greenery with some cool refreshments :)
I hope that you're doing well and staying safe.

The "I don't know how to explain this view" shot was fantastic... Epic shot, and then paragliders come into frame! This channel is so effortless, lighthearted and fun, but there's great camerawork and storytelling happening that is not so simple to pull off. Well done!
I appreciate it 😊
Your videos never fail to bring a smile to my face. Keep up the great work Tom!
Tom you're so funny. "Oberstdorf is not a well known site." lol
In fact Oberstdorf is for at least 1-2 centuries now one of the 3 if not THE most famous german alps-village.
It offers a wide variety of activities as there are FIVE valleys leading like the beams of a star from Oberstdorf into the alps.
You mentioned just the Nebelhornbahn to the Nebelhorn, although there are several other lifts belonging to Oberstdort leading to other mountains.
That 3 language conversation is hilarious
😭🇳🇱 parapente!
I'd probably be less worried about the job the Engineers and workers did building it, but more how seriously the company operating it takes (costly) maintenance and how closely the government checks they do it properly 😀 Germany probably a good place to be in that regard.
We have something called TÜV, there’s no need to be concerned lol
I sure do enjoy each of your videos. Thank you for filming and sharing them.
I sure do enjoy this comment 💙🌻
Niceee, great choice of music too 👌
In summer time using the cable cars is often free when you stay in a hotel in Oberstdorf
Noo wayyy 😅 … that’s my hometown! I’m glad you enjoyed you’re time there.
Aaah that's so cool!! I was also thinking of going back and doing the Kemptner Huette hike... any other recommendations / advice for the area?
@@thornton You definitely should! I would for sure recommend visiting Breitachklamm, especially beautiful during the winter time. Schrecksee, a mountain lake might be my personal favorite, but unfortunately has become a little bit of a „hotspot“. There is almost an unlimited amount of stuff to do and see so can’t go wrong with anything to be honest 😄
Amazing. I love the Bavaria(n alps) so thanks for this tip. Lovely video as well, well put together.
Thanks so much!! I hope you also have the privilege of visiting one day :)
The music in this one was perfect, man! 🎉
Aw thanks !! 🥳🎹
Was really hoping the final walk back to the train would show you wearing some impulse-bought lederhosen!
A 5 piece traditional Bavarian outfit, with Lederhose. Why didn’t you buy it?
Love the quality of your videos
I just watched this video. Again you surprised me with the whimsical carefree "just happened upon this" in my Google pins. Totally delightful the views paragliding birds even the plane. Sorry about the beer. But glad to hear you were giving a monthof dry living a turn. I loved everything that happened so easily in the video. Again you have a complexity for ease.
Spent a lovely week in a Ferienwohnung just over the border from here in Warth once. The views from the apartment were grand. This looks lovely, too.
1:05 hm suprizingly your to warm dressed to go to the Nebelhorn. I was there as a kid and we had normaly 16 degree celcius and up there hm 0 to minus 3. Depends were you are and how high you are

This looks beautiful.
We love your wonderful channel…and this post is magnificent! Thank you!
Aw thanks, that’s really nice!
The birds would drive me crazy. But it is quite similar to the Zugspitze.
hahah yeah, there was no need to add birdnoise.mp3 to this one, mother nature took care of that
😎👍
0:22 it is but it isnt outside germany
I worked there in Oberstdorf, the Nebelhorn is the mountain behind the village.I speak German which helps.
Keep Grinding dawg
Guten Tag, Tom! 👋🏻
Wünsche dir was!
I’ve been to Oberstdorf but I didn’t go up there, definitely should have!
I always have the same paranoia when riding cable cars over such insane heigths.
In the USA flix has partnered with Greyhound. 😂 I took Greyhound in February from Reno, NV to Lawrence, KS it was kind of bad. I am glad you didn't have that bad of an experience. It was great that it was a train with no real stops or train changes. 😂
Nooooo what an awful combination 😂😂
Only bad thing about the DeutschlandTicket fpr foreigners is how to get it. It's a subscription thing and has some really weird steps to aquire it - for minors in germany and foreigners.
But maybe this will get fixed in the future, or maybe has been fixed by some "Verkehrsbetriebe" in more touristic areas.
There are some cities who make it easy. I saw seat61 tweeting that foreigners can get it from Bremen’s VBN app. Agreed it’s kind of dumb that there’s no deliberate, centralised way…
They may very well have done it this way on purpose to still get money off of tourists that don't really know about it or want to deal with aquiring it.
