I love that the visual tones change matches the moment when Odysseus realize that his friend, the ever optimistic one with rose-colored lenses is gone, that grief is blinding him and caused the lapes in judgment with revealing his true name. With his friends, he had the tactical advantage and was calculating, with the loss his couldn't think straight and your animation really makes this shines through
Oh..
Ikr- this really captures how blinded by grief Odysseus is
If that helps Polites in original Odyssey doesn't die in the hands of cyclops. He was with them when they met Circe for instance
And Athena tries to help but he rejects her Wisdom

I always love the “Who Hurt You” “Nobody” moment. Because you can hear the pain and fear and sadness in the little “don’t go” at the end.
it’s such a powerful moment, the loneliness really shows here, the desperate need for help, it really show the rage and pain in both sides
Its because Odyssey told him his name is nobody
I don't know why but I wanna hug that big evil mf lmao
@@cockycookie1 He's not evil. Some little thieves come in and kill his favorite sheep
@@cockycookie1 idk man, what would you do if a bunch of rats ate your dogs?
The way Athena appeared and then in order to prove her wrong Odysseus ended up giving his name... heartbreaking. I love Athena's design, like a middle ground between inhuman and ethereal.
_"What good would killing do when mercy is a skill more of this world could learn to use."_
I love that line so much 💗
Well the great irony is he also proves how that very line only leads to more ruin, not less.
@@techpriest6962 Athena just ruined everything by appearing, there were tons more cyclopses and if he came back to finish off that one cyclops he would get swarmed and die, and Athena actually makes him want to do something even worse, SAYING THE LOCATION OF HIS KINGDOM!
and then they all die because of that and is wife too.
@@Golnhekjd, yeah, because going to kill him wouldn't have killed them all since there were many more cyclops, Athena's presence made everything worse, they were already leaving, the cyclops wouldn't have been able of doing anything, and Athena basically made him give him the information that he needed, if he'd actually heard her it would have been worse since all of them would have died, they couldn't even kill one cyclops, not without great loses anyway, how would they have been able of facing so many? That would have been suicide, Athena was only looking for herself and her prestige, which is what all greek gods did, they weren't how a God is supposed to be, a REAL mentor, someone how taught morals and righteousness and cared for his people, someone who were truly wise and would teach true wisdom, someone who wasn't so selfish and proud and cared not only for himself and satisfying his whims, that's why I don't consider this gods true gods in their world and moment so to speak where they are considered as such because they don't have what a true god would have to have to be a god, and mercy would be part of that wisdom, if people where really merciful and loved each other and cared for morals and what is really good even in our world and time (or if they would have done that in the past too) there would be no wars, no more stupid bloodshed, war in itself is foolishness, it's not wise, that's why the fact that Athena is both goddess of wisdom AND war (being a lot more strategical, smart and cold-thinking than Ares who would be hot-headed and basically be like a volcano) is jarring and questioning at best
@@doloresgronenberg5882 there was only one cyclop, the voice they took for more of them was Poseidon himself, his son called out to him for help.

I LOVE the way you draw and depict the characters, and the animatic is great as always!
I really love those moments of quick animation like Odysseus wiping his tears where you see the fluid motion.
I love how the Cyclops smiles at the end cause he knows who to call his daddy to kill
I love how you captured so well the beginning when Odyssey seems like he is on autopilot out of shock before he is asked what about his fallen friends
I love how your design for Athena makes her face look subtly like that of an owl’s. Peak design imo
And once again I am amazed by your work! And you make these animatics so quickly aswell! The emotions you capture are increadable! I love your work, Wolfy! You are such an inspiration!
This is my favorite song in the whole playlist I’m so happy to see you animating it!
Having read the Odyssey, being a fan of Greek Mythology, and obsessing with the Epic The Musical soundtrack, this is a MASTERPIECE. I love it! Great work! You draw their expressions so well- Odysseus' grief and rage, Polyphemus' grin, the frozen horror on Polites' face... Not to mention the amazing transitions! Especially to Athena.
Wolfy’s gonna be the szin of this fandom these animatics are AMAZING
Istg,
Szin carried the hamilton fandom
Gigi and Kaitcake carried the Six Fandom
And now its Wolfys turn
As tragic as the line ends up being, I love the brief moment of triumph where Odysseus declares his identity.
His biggest mistake was telling the Cyclops who he was...
Love this. Love love love. I hope you continue the full length ones.
OMG. I just realized when Polyphemus said "It was Nobody Nobody" it's because Odysseus said his name is Nobody Nobody before in Polyphemus's MV.
I love how you see Ody and Eury freeze with wide eyes from fear when the first "Who hurt you" is heard before they duck behind the rocks.
Just realized this is actually these were the very first men Odysseus ever lost, he lead them for nine years at war and all of them survived, only to die to the cyclops, must have hit hard
Especially since the very first one was Polites, his best friend
THIS- IS- AMAZING! So many of your ideas are very similar to how I envisioned this as an animatic. The only problem is that I can't make it an animatic, because I don't know how to animate and I don't have time because I'm graduating. Shame.
But atleast in the meantime I can enjoy your depiction so thank you for that!
Odysseus: Existing
Poseidon: “I took that personally.”
The “who hurt you?” part is chilling and beautiful
I can see that when Odysseus says "what good would killing do...when mercy is a skill more of this world could learn to use" I can see him looking away from Athena and imagining Polities standing next to him, smiling, and teaching him to greet the world with open arms. And Odysseus gets emotional and that is when he looks to to Athena and snaps at her "my friend is DEAD, our foe is..." That is what I see. Its him with more emotion behind his reasonings. But your animation is amazing!!! Love love love it!!!

(hi from France ;))
Why did I just realize when cyclops asked for a name and he said nobody so that’s why he said nobody did it
I can’t wait until the whole musical is done cause I am loving all of these!
The spine chilling silence as Odysseus screams his name signifying he's greatest mistake.
Odysseus I hear what you're saying but a) that thing decided For You that this was going to end in death, b) you just gave him a Very Good Reason to hate you on top of murdering his favorite sheep/stealing his food/trying to make him forgive you by giving him drugged booze, and c) although WE know Polyphemus survives at least long enough to rat you out to Poseidon, YOU don't have any way of knowing he'll survive the trauma, blood loss, and potential for infection from HAVING HIS EYEBALL IMPALED WITH A GIANT SPLINTERY WOODEN OBJECT.
You wanna be merciful the sensible thing would've been to finish him off so there's NO chance he'll die a slow painful infection death after you leave. Dingus.
I watched this before the recent release of Ruthlessness.
Absolute shivers.
See in the original story Polites was killed by Scylla so I was very surprised he died so early on and It was shocking to see. I love how this musical is made.

I am flabbergasted by how amazing this animation is. It’s to so perfect! So lively! And every bit of it is just beautiful. CHEF’S KISS
Me @ Poseidon when Ody opens the bag: It seems you have been tricked, duper, and quite possibly bamboozled.
Honestly at that point it would have indeed been more merciful to kill the cyclops. They blinded him and took all of his pet sheep. Guy is just going to live an empty crippled life from then on
Zeus: here’s an innocent baby you have to kill
Ody: yes very sad…anyway YEET
Athena: this cyclops you have severely wounded is still very much a threat to you and your crew so you must go back and end this
Ody: good idea but how about…now hear me out…I give him my name and home address instead?

This is so amazing to watch. I admire the artistry and storytelling of this animatic. It made me interested about the epic musical. I really like this kind of content. It saddens me that Odysseus' best friend died. I really like that character :(.

Nah Odysseus is just dumb for telling him his government name
It's even worse in the original poem. He threw im his father's name too.
@@James--Parker na no way he was that dumb
Athena really shouldve used her wisdom better. He already stated in order to get out they cant kill him at first. They struggled so much before and couldn't kill or severely wound him. With their morale broken and injured, they wouldn't be able to kill him. If they tried, the other cyclopes would eventually come. Come on athena
never gonna forgive odysseus for dropping the full government name
And Polyphemus immediately cries to his daddy
The whole video is epic. I really like how the "heroic song" disappears when the other cyclops appear, and then everyone feels that sensation of danger again.
They only managed to wound Polyphemus because because he had fallen asleep. But how are they supposed to deal with an entire comunity of cyclops? That part was really tense.

I know I'm super late but to me Athena's warning and calling the cyclops a threat was never her actually calling the CYCLOPS a threat but rather the Cyclop's father. I genuinely wonder how different this saga and even the whole story would be if the cyclops wasn't Poseidon's son
I had a hunch that this was going to be remember them hehe. Glad I was right. Now I have a full animatic list version of Epic XD
Maybe this Will help to keep the Madness aways until the Next saga is out.
And quite a song
Odysseus didn't need to kill him like Athena said. All he had to do was leave without revealing his real name. As he was blind he couldn't point out and say it was him, the best would be to describe him but even that wouldn't be much since Odysseus doesn't have an extremely striking feature and could pass for any man. If Odysseus had controlled himself and not had his name at the end, half of the problems up front wouldn't exist.
i need wolythewitch's EPIC animatics injected directly into my veins
Ok, I need more
Can’t believe Odysseus gave Polyphemus his IP address smh 🤦♀️
Notice how Odysseus finds himself between the same dilemma as he did before in Troy. Another God orders him to finish off an opponent because he might be a potential threat.
At first it was an innocent baby boy
Now is a huge beast
The first time Odysseus obeyed the gods. This time he didn't.
It's almost like that murder had its toll on him and chose to spare the life of a lethal creature and let him live with the consequences of his actions (that he trespassed the laws of hospitality by killing and eating his comrades) rater than kill him.
Gosh I love details like that that give fresh look at ancient stories!
Amazing animation! The moment with tye cyclops eyes appear was chilling! And even that tiny brief second of seeing Odysseus's trusted friend on the ground definitely was one of the most inpactful!
I love how this animatic shows how the immense grief of losing his best friend affected him verry much, and probably impaired his decision making, im pretty sure in epic canon no man of his died in the war, and this kinda puts into perspective the importance of this event, the first time someone close to him suffered the consequences of his decisions, and it was his best friend.
Not sure about the none of his people dying since in the verz first song he says "ten years of war they killed us slowly" but it was for sure traumatic to see so many of his men die
@@Morningstar_37 in fact in a clip from Luck Runs Out, Odysseus says to Eurylochus: "I took six hundred men to war and no one of them died there, in case you needed a reminder" So none of his men died in Troy
so its important that its the first time so many died under his command then right?
Makes the scene extra significant :((
i learned this from osp/overly sarcastic productions near the end of the epic, most of the crew was massacred by the sea of monsters. idk if its super accurate but that just what i saw.
Honestly Athena’s wisdom should have been more along the lines of “stay anonymous because if you say your real name that Cyclops will tell on you to his father Poseidon, the god of the Sea which you need to get home to your family and kingdom”
I would love that because that’s a logical thing to do aside from killing the cyclops

Everyone focuses on Athena saying "Don't," but ignores the fact that her presence made the situation worse. Odysseus was leaving. He was done. And he was right, too. There were more cyclops. And they couldn't beat one. If they had turned to finish him off, they would have died.
Athena showing up and telling him to finish it was almost insulting. It felt like she cared less about the men that would die and more about the glory of her Warrior winning.
But thats exactly what her relationship with Odysseus was, she didnt love him as a friend. Of course, he was the man she loved most, but you could not equate it to the love one has for their friends yk. The gods used their heroes as toys, they controlled them, made them fight their monsters and showed them off for their own pleasure. Athena was no different, she cared only for her reputation and how Odysseus made her look. And its sad because youre right, if Athena had not come it wouldve spared Odysseus like 10 years perhaps. Mortal heroes never meant much to the gods, they played them like chess pieces.
Damn that analysis made me realize a whole lot of things
Took me a while to see this comment, but yes, 100,000% Athena did not help Odysseus and instead nearly dragged him and his crew to complete annihilation. I am glad more people are seeing that it would have been stupid if she had gotten her way, and they had listened to her words.
You are right, but not in the cyclops part, there werent any more cyclops in the original story, the pressence in the video should be a god (Poseidon) who protects the cyclops because they are his sons. But for the rest you are 100% right.
Surely killing the cyclops would prove to be difficult and probably cost him some more comrades. I believe that the part where Odysseus reveals his name wasn't really influenced by Athena. It was clearly his ego. If you make that assumption then Athena was right, he was a threat and proved to be.
Also, @joseangelbravogallego9363 there were more cyclops in the story just not exactly near him. Big creatures their voices echoed across the island

@@Ксю24-у9и essentially, Polyphemus (the cyclops) tells his father (Posidon) that Odysseus had blinded him (Odysseus had given Polyphemus his name, Polyphemus could snitch). Considering Odysseus and his men were travelling by sea, it is Very Bad that Posidon is mad at them
@@tumblingartist oh..
Btw thank u:)
In the Odyssey Polyphemus knew by a prophecy that Odysseus would blind him. He just never imagined that the legendary Odysseus would be a small man. Odysseus also gave his name away out of grief and also out of hurt pride when he was called a coward
3:06 Biggest mistake of Odysseus' life.
Bro was thinking he is biggest dog in town
The best part of "Who hurts you" sequence for me is not the fact that there is a who-knows-how-many-more cyclops, but rather the fact then they are MUCH bigger then Polyphemus. Like, one of them has his only EYE almost as big as Polyphemus whole head.
I think even in the original myth it’s suggested they’re bigger too given they mock Polyphemus when he starts saying “nobody hurt me”.
I love when Odysseus says that "I'm the reigning king of Ithaca" it looks like he slits his own throat and in a sense it's exactly what he does 😅 You're so talented and creative :3
