I have a service dog and have found the majority of pet relief stations are disgusting. Most of the time, the fake grass is soaking wet with urine. To help with this, I fly with extra large puppy pads and baby wipes. I throw the pad on the cement or turf for him to stand on and use.
All those beautiful children! Mac is going to be best loved boy in the world! Goldens are the PERFECT breed for families with lots of littles. Our good boy “Scout” took care of my 5 little ones on our 5 acres as we were living in a camper for 2 years, building our home. (Long story) Best mama’s helper in the world. He would bark for me if they wandered “too far” from home base. Just brilliant dog. RIP our beloved Scout. 💔
Love all the videos you put out! Especially like going along with you and Max first class and seeing the owners home and how the dog reacts when he comes back home after training. You do an awesome job helping people train good dogs to become great!
You are living the dream and I know it's hard work. Keep it up guys! You've inspired me to train my Cane Corso. He's about as good as Mack at this point. Also inspired me to chase my dream. Yall changing lives!
Colorado Native, born and raised Denver area, transplanted to Grand Junction at 23 yrs , NOW 61~~~~~ Your tip on oxygen CRACKED ME UP! LOVE ALL THE HELP, you give us on training our creatures.
I need to do some work with my 6 year old red golden retriever 😞 her anxiety is horrible. Amazing videos and I'm glad videos are working well with your golden retriever.
I just happened to get on your page and totally amazed! My 4 year old Aussie was killed by someone giving her drugs😢 Gracie was my whole world and she was my service dog, she was AMAZING!! 5 mo. later I now have Miss Sophie, a 3 1/2 month old Aussie and Im thrilled!! After all the trauma and depression I went thru losing Gracie, Miss Sophie is gonna fit right in. Of course she is totally different than Gracie. She's a lot more difficult. I've watched a few of your videos and i can't wait to use your teaching methods. Can't wait to see more. THANK YOU
It's not everyday you see a pup that age behaving so well in crowded public places, only one that comes close from my personal experience was a young hunting pointer (springer spaniel) owned by a friend of mine who trains dogs as a hobby.
I love your videos I have a two year old American Pitbull terrier and a 10 week old Amstaff and I trained them both with your tips now they are AWESOME
Yup and metro Denver in 30s but not too bad!!! Foothills are great South Table and North Table Mts are flat up top with a great view...or Lookout Mt with Buffalo Bill's Grave with the nature center
Amazing, hard to beat the mountains. Been following ASK9 pretty much since day one. even though I live where im not allowed to use the tools that are recommended, its still the best and funniest dog content out there. But one wish. We need some Akita action. I know they are not the most trainable dogs. But they are really something and I can say from personal exp. that they are very serious protectors and gets the job done when you need them to. In the process of buying a CC now and will be using ASK9 as one of my main resourses.
Really liked this style of video! (Your others are good too) training my service dog currently and your videos have helped a lot. If you know scent training would love to see a video on that!
Would it be possible to see the very first lesson on the puppies/dogs? Cause i noticed [or maybe i just haven't seen enough] that you;d mention how its their 2nd or 3rd day of training when you introduce them, and like it would be very reassuring to see how exactly they'd take on the first lesson and how to properly redirect them when they have no references for training! [gosh also i love your videos, i think ive been binging them for about a month now? aside from all the info they're very fun to watch actually hehehe]
Amazing! I know Exactly where you were. Been to Cripple Creek. Live here in Southeast Colorado. Love the area, and the Beautiful house where it's at. Been by there. Hope you enjoyed your visit and stay here in Colorado. Hi, my name is Angie and I am from eastern North Carolina but live in Colorado now of course. Thank you for sharing the Important information about how to train and take great care of your dogs. I will subscribe and share some of your best videos to show my support. Hope you, your family, friends and everyone here has a Safe Blessed and Wonderful day...😊😊😊😊Take care everyone 😊
For a variety reasons I am likely done or nearly done flying, but I started upgrading to first class a few years ago. The lack of BS was a great incentive, plus I used to be pretty buff and did not fit in coach (aka sardine class). I MAY have to fly early next year, and if I do, it will be first class.
To me, it's just such a waste of money. If money is no object, obviously take the better seat, but I'd rather spend that money when I get to my destination. I don't really mind flying.
OK I'm so interested in finding out more about how hard it was to get a dog on a flight what he wasn't in a crate in the luggage compartment. All the research I did indicated that was the only way they would allow my 50lb dog to fly and event then it was EXPENSIVE.
Looks like he flew with United. United is the only US carrier I know of (American, Delta, Frontier, Southwest, Alaska, Hawaiian) that allows service dogs in training to fly. Since Garrett could have said Mac is a service animal in training with a valid explaination (Mac could really be a service animal in training or completely trained), that means the dog is good to go. Unlike the rest of the airport, aircraft are covered by the ACAA not the ADA. The ACAA states that as long as the DOT form is complete and the dog is behaving appropriately, the dog is good to go. I personally worked for an airline for 2 years, we had service animals (SVAN) in and out all the time at the airport. What we were taught without going to a specific class for taking care of disabilities (called a CRO or complaint resolution officer [not a manager, only for disabilities]) is that we can ask the same 2 questions everyone else can. 1) is it an SVAN and 2) what tasks has it been trained for? We can't ask them to demonstrate, we can't ask for any documentation proving it is an SVAN, etc. The DOT has a form that most airlines will require is sent to their special assistance desk at least 24 hours in advance of your flight if you purchase the ticket more than 24 hours in advance. The paperwork can be filled out at the airport, even at the gate before your flight, but please don't do that. We were trained to do all we can to get an SVAN and their handler onto a flight if they had to fill out the form at the airport, without delaying the plane. The ACAA states we are allowed to deny boarding if this DOT form is not completed in a timely manner. If you aren't able to print the form, at least have it filled out digitally, and please if you have a special need, stop by a ticket counter agent to make sure your need is known. It can also help to stop by the gate agent to let them know, "hey, I have an SVAN, I would like/need extra time to board" so they know to look for you when boarding is starting. It also lets the gate agent double check all your ducks are in a row, so that when the flight attendant asks "Is that an SVAN or a cabin pet" the gate agent can verify that yes, the small dog not in a carrier is an SVAN. A slight difference is also true between an SVAN and a cabin pet, in that SVANs can sit in the bulkhead like Garrett did here, but cabin pets cannot. Also, if employees notice disruptive behavior such as barking (outside of a service task role), sitting on furniture, growling, jumping on people (outside of a service task role), or biting people or other animals, we are allowed to deny the boarding as an SVAN. Then we are to process the animal as a cabin pet or cargo pet depending on the size. The animal does not need to have perfect heel, down-stay, sit-stay, etc in order to fly, though this does make everything easier and can make employees less wary of your ability to actually control your animal. My fiancee and I took our husky SVAN to Honolulu when we moved here, and by no means did she have a perfect heel when we took her. But she was so well behaved on both flights, despite it being her first time, that on the 2nd flight (her 2nd ever), the flight attendant didn't even know she was there until they handed out the USDA forms for Hawai'i.
I wonder about your heeling. You don't use verbal cue for unfocused heeling aka. loose leash walking. But what when you are on a walk, dog goes 10 minutes next to you, then it's time to sniff or whatever so you give release cue "free". And time is up, you gotta take him close again - do you use some verbal cue for that? And do you have separate cue for heeling and loose leash walk (since I noticed your dogs heel on walk unless released). Edit: I would also love to see how you deal with hyperactive dog that has trouble to relax and even when laying down being all over the place with mind.
That’s one thing I’m trying to figure out also, getting mine to understand why he can be free to explore/relief and why he can’t other times. (We do a lot of off leash walking up at our cottage.. woods and trails) He gets very confused looks on his face 😅
Can you make a video on your dog flying with you? How do you get them to not bark all the time, and also how were you able to bring him on the plane without putting him in a carrier or underneath in cargo??
You’re the only trainer who addresses things others don’t want to so I have 2 questions. How do you re-train your dog and how do you allow your dog to go to the bathroom on leash without messing up heel / leave distraction training? I had my dog beautifully trained for 2 years but due to a period of homelessness I haven’t kept up with his training. He hasn’t forgotten any tricks and his retrieval skills are actually better but his manners aren’t the best. If another dog barks at him he starts to whine and his leash walking is 50/50 on whether or not he’s going to heel. We did so much training together and earned titles but now I feel a little lost on where to restart. We live in an apartment that requires dogs to be on leash at all times outside expect for the dog park which we never go to since it’s all gravel and neither of us enjoy walking on it.
That kind of house is my dream house...cept maybe I'd be more realistic, no way I'll ever be able to afford something THAT massive. Wew what a beautiful house with a beautiful view. Makes me think of Montana but just not as good.
Hey Garrett love your videos! Super helpful! I got a pitahoula from the shelter and I can't find hardly any information on them,I was wondering if you knew anything about them?
What dog foods or treats do you use or recommend to train? Our family just lost our Australian Shepard (Max) of 13 years 3 months ago. I have another Aussie coming in 2 weeks and plan on training him personally. Any tips on an 8 week old puppy while we both work a full time job. Really enjoying your videos. Very informative! This will be the first pup Ive ever tried to train myself. Thanks for what you do and the videos. God Bless!

There's a couple questions about how Mac was able to fly in the cabin on his way to Denver. Looks like he flew with United. Sort of off topic....and granted, It's been a very long time since I've flown, but I was so happy to see the airline allow you to bring on a full-size dog (not a pocket sized dog), uncrated (pet carrier bag), into the interior of the plane versus being thrown in a crate and into the non temperature regulated cargo bay! Would you please let me know what airline you flew? What was the cost? And what prerequisites or requirements were needed in order to be allowed to bring your dog on board?
I don't understand everywhere I look it says airlines only let service pets on the plane without a carrier, how did you get on the plane with him? What airline was it?
Hey I love your Xcode is the have helped a tun training my first dog but I just got a second dog who is a puppy and while he hasn’t had accidents in the house in a year now he is starting to do it again now that I have the second dog what do I do?
I am canadian flying to Fort lauderdale with my service dog for the first time.My dog sleeps in a crate at night. I let her sleep there because it safe and no accidents in the house. Do you suggest I bring a portable crate with me,and if yes can you suggest one or how should I do it to keep her safe and the hotel room clean.I have a 60 lbs female Golden Retriver
Hi im a big fan off your videos. Just wondering if you have ever heard off the breed fila de sao miguel, would love to hear your opinion on the breed. Thanks
i love your training videos. but i have a toy poodle and don't know what prong collar size i should use and even if i should use one or a collar will be fine?
Do you train escalators and moving walkways with the dogs? I'm curious because as a guide dog handler who is blind I've been trained very differently for those areas
I’m in Colorado. We have a 9/10 month old Belgian malinois GSD mix . She need major training! Can you recommend any good trainers out here ? Or how can we get with you ? We love her dearly and want to help her stay I’m our home and be a great k9 citizen. TIA
Im trying to train an Australian cattle dog/ German shorthair. He is going on 2 and had no training, nothing before i got him. He is learning tricks faster than the snap of the fingers but the walking will be the death of me.
My dear fiend Garrett, allow me to inform you that Perrier like almost all of sparkling water contain CO2 and not oxygen. As about this little puppy behavior, once more you did a hell of a job. Congratulations!
How did you get such a large dog in First Class? I fly First Class and have to have very small dogs because it’s required they stay in a crate, small enough to fit under the seat. In truth, I’m terrified to fly! My dogs with me really do help. They become legitimate emotional support dogs when I fly. Would love to be able to bring my bigger 15 pound dog.
Are prong collars a tool you're supposed to you use indefinetely every time you have a strong dominant dog breed like a corso or a rottweiler? Or is it only temporary
Always use a prong collar doubled up with a tag collar, on any dog. Its the safest way by far.. Even if the dog is trained.. Harnesses are for pulling, Flat collars crush the trachea, choker and slip leads choke the dogs and prong collars distribute the pressure evenly around the whole neck. I have hairless dogs that wear them without fuss. once the dog is trained there are no corrections so its not a big deal for the dog wearing it full time,, just make sure it is a 'herms sprenger' the cheap ones can be sharp.. Also if you have a white dog do not get the chrome one it stains the fur👍
Welcome to Colorado I know just north of Denver in Larimer County they used to have one of the best k9 handlers In the state (so I’ve heard) all gone to shit though because apparently they treated the main handler like shit and she left.😅😅
Hey brother I got some pretty serious situations with my dog right now he is in quarantine at the shelter they took him for 10 days for biting somebody just have a lot of questions wondering if maybe you could help me
I have a service dog and have found the majority of pet relief stations are disgusting. Most of the time, the fake grass is soaking wet with urine. To help with this, I fly with extra large puppy pads and baby wipes. I throw the pad on the cement or turf for him to stand on and use.
Smart. Good tip. Thank you

Can’t wait to get my puppy later this year and use your tips and tricks to train him up right!!
Love your videos, keep up the good work!!
Thanks! When you get your puppy, check out our memberships and our "Puppy Essentials" courses at DIYK9.com
How does Garret and Jim Hodges not have a Netflix deal yet
Wrong politics for Netflix unfortunately.
Because their training method behind the scenes is border line dog abuse

I need to do some work with my 6 year old red golden retriever 😞 her anxiety is horrible. Amazing videos and I'm glad videos are working well with your golden retriever.
What do you do when your dog's neck is in-between sizes of prong collar. They don't make half links. I'm stuck!

The door bell would be for someone who is hearing impaired. When pushed the lights will flash so they know someone is at the door.

Yea the dog basically has an automatic heel and whenever the dog wants to go potty he just uses the free cue and “heel” so he goes back into position

Hi. He has a short on the leash bathroom problem. It's with a German Shepard. And it's a very recent one.
How do you expect the dog to go potty and be in a heel?😟 you walk out the house dogs in a heel and you break him in the grass area
Thats cool, didnt know dogs were allowed on a aeroplane like that. Also didnt know that they had dog toilets. So cool
Amazing training!!! I am just curious on why can you take a dog on an airplane? Is he being trained as service dog for the owner?
That kind of house is my dream house...cept maybe I'd be more realistic, no way I'll ever be able to afford something THAT massive. Wew what a beautiful house with a beautiful view. Makes me think of Montana but just not as good.
My grandpa use to say only pu$$ drink with straws hahah😂 not saying I agree but it’s funny

Hey Garrett love your videos! Super helpful! I got a pitahoula from the shelter and I can't find hardly any information on them,I was wondering if you knew anything about them?
Great video!❤
Thank you!

Great video I like the travel vids! Exposure is a little high in some shots! Just a tip
I think only service dogs are allowed in the cabin.
@@MichaelAivaliotis probably so, and it probably didn't hurt that he was in first class vs economy, as well
I don't understand everywhere I look it says airlines only let service pets on the plane without a carrier, how did you get on the plane with him? What airline was it?
No Denver is not 7200 ft its about 5280+ depending on suburb....Cripple Creek near Colorado Springs
Great video
What would you recommend for an 8 week old Boston Terrier for travel. Next month i will be flying from Tx to Illinois to pick up my new puppy
The commentary at 10m40sec is soo right😂 if you don't have anything nice to say, do it nicely. Great job love your video

Is this a support dog? How’d you bring him on the plane? I’d really like to know.
Are you located on the east coast of Florida? Having some separation anxiety with my 5 month old Irish Wolfhound.
Once you purchase a training program do you get access for life?
Yes, you get lifetime access.
IS THAT AN S2000 just casually in the video 😮😮😮😮
Can I leash train my 10 week old German shepherd with a prong collar or should I wait ?
Heya FYI if its unsweetened tea that qualifies as net water intake.

Hey a little advice? My friend is looking for a guardian breed, but is allergic to dogs. Any that are hypoallergenic?
I’m in Colorado. We have a 9/10 month old Belgian malinois GSD mix . She need major training! Can you recommend any good trainers out here ? Or how can we get with you ? We love her dearly and want to help her stay I’m our home and be a great k9 citizen. TIA
Welcome to Colorado!!!! Alright
Im trying to train an Australian cattle dog/ German shorthair. He is going on 2 and had no training, nothing before i got him. He is learning tricks faster than the snap of the fingers but the walking will be the death of me.
I live in Denver Colorado
COLORADO MENTION LETS GOOOOOOO
RAAAAAHHHHHHHH COLORADO
My dear fiend Garrett, allow me to inform you that Perrier like almost all of sparkling water contain CO2 and not oxygen. As about this little puppy behavior, once more you did a hell of a job. Congratulations!
I know. Was just dropping a bad dad joke probably because of lack of oxygen lol. Thank you
Bomb. 😂
I have a question how do I get my puppy to stop growling when I correct her ??
Will they let my Cane Corso on 1st class flight? What airlines? Love this video!
I have hairless dogs that wear them without fuss. once the dog is trained there are no corrections so its not a big deal for the dog wearing it full time,,
just make sure it is a 'herms sprenger' the cheap ones can be sharp.. Also if you have a white dog do not get the chrome one it stains the fur👍
Do you come to tijuana México?
Garrett, I’m disappointed you didn’t dress like the dog daddy for this trip. 😂😂 release your inner you!
