Very informative. You and your partner are wonderful, responsible, caring, fun pet parents. Lucy is very fortunate to have you both, and you're both fortunate to have her. With regards to the Aesop Shampoo, it does contain "Sodium Laureth Sulfate" which should be avoided for both pets and humans in shampoos, or any soap, etc. It's advisable to stay away from products which contain parabens as well. As a suggestion, I use Dr. Bronner's Castile Scent Free Soap. It is an excellent shampoo for pets, babies, grown ups, as well as for washing your floors with, and to use as a laundry liquid. You dilute it with water and it goes a long way. Although the Castile Soap does come in scented as well, I just use the scent free for pets (and babies for those who have them) to be on the safe side.
I have to say thanks for the tip re- stylish hound harness in one of your previous vids. We recently purchased two based on your review and they are absolutely the best thing. Lucy Lane the Queen of Balmain ...Yes that’s us up here in God’s country. I have two water loving babies, an 18 month old show line male and a 12 month old working line long hair female. If there is a beach, dam or puddle, they will find it. We are very fortunate to have quite a variety of dog friendly places available to us here all within close proximity of home, from long sandy beaches at low tide, to lush tropical easy to walk tracks that follow a creek line with suspension bridges and waterfalls, to a mildly challenging mountain track which my dogs particularly love, to a very large deserted old sandstone quarry with massive rock pools which is another favourite. All present excellent topographical variety that the dogs find enjoyable and where you can test your cinematic skills. Happy to show you around them if interested.

Thank you for sharing. Planning to get a GSD by X-Mas and tour videos help with what to expect and how to plan. Is there time during the day for cuddling with a puppy or teaching a puppy how to allow owner to touch/rub?
I loved this video--really CLEAR teaching about each thing. One big question: When your dog does not want to take the flea/tick pill or any pill, what do you do with a dog like that? Don't say to hide it in food. I've had so many dogs and they ALL smell the pill and will not eat the item. Almost 99% of the time, I had to hold wide open the mouth of a scary dog like a multi-toothed bulldog or grouchy, resistant terrier to push the pill down the center of the back of their throat. They hate it, and I was terrified of getting bitten. Who in the world would try something like that with a GSD!??? I will look around (I'm a new subscriber with a bell and will donate) your videos and see if you've already covered this, but if not, MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU if you would tell us how to get a pill down. Thank you and of course (America's old TV show name) I LOVE LUCY! : )
Hi!! I know this is late but what worked for me was crushing the pill up into a powder, mixing it in with wet dog food, and stuffing the mixture in a kong toy. This seems to hide the smell and texture extremely well, and dog is too distracted trying to get the treat out of the Kong to really notice the medicine smell. If your dog has never tried a Kong before, stuff it with just wet dog food and let him/her play with it a few times before trying with the medicine mixed in. I hope this may help you!
Hey, would you recommend getting a german shepherd puppy for a 13 year old? I’m scared that the dog will be left behind and neglected, while my 13 year old is off with friends, and doing school work all the time.
Hey German Shepherds are a life long and full time commitment. Like any dog but these dogs need it more than most dogs because they want to work for a master. Having a dog like this neglected will cause so many problems.
I got my first German Shepherd at 14, and I got hounded by my parents to train her, walk her, feed her, bath her, they didn't let me skimp on any of the jobs of looking after that dog ... was the best thing ever though, that pooch went through my 'teenage years' with me, tantrums and fights with mum and dad and all that great teenage stuff, but she was my best bud and we used to just wonder the streets together, I'm not sure I ever really 'walked' her, we just kinda meandered about haha, but we grew up together pretty much - I even learned how to drive a car properly after I got a licence because of her, poor pooch got tossed around a little until I learned how to actually drive smoothly LOL, it was great for me - but like my parents did to me, you may have to do some hounding of your kid to make sure they don't skimp on doggy duty - because they're gonna try! (I know I tried to get out of washing the dog more than once because 'aww but I get just as wet and my hair!!!', I used to be so precious LOL and I don't think either my parents or I would be able to think of a time I DIDN'T try to get out of poop-a-scooping, never worked, but I always tried, because, eww poo) .... but she was around for drama of High School and the stress of Uni and never batted an eyelash at having me use her as my 'crying pillow' from time to time, we had heaps of fun times together too though .... think hard about it, but don't discard the idea out of hand. just make sure you're ready before you do it ...
No I wouldn’t at all, they are a family dog but need a strong leader and a 13 year old may struggle to take proper care of a GSD, depends also everyone 13 year old is different but generally it’s to much and not fair place that much responsibility on your 13 y o. Hope everything works out for you all 🐾
Do you recommend keeping the crate in your bedroom at night or in the kitchen when the puppy is young? I read that it's best to put them outside to go pee during the night. I would prefer not to have him in our bedroom..and don't want him to get used to it.
Hey mate love the passion you have for Lucy. I have been considering getting a GSD for a while now and live in Sydney. Would you be able too share who you got Lucy off or any other breeders you could recommend. Cheers!
Have been following Lucy's channel for a while. I will be getting our fur baby in 8 weeks. Are you please able to share the link for where you purchased her collar and lead? Or recommend one? Just a bit confused as to which one is ideal to get.
Seeing that studded dog collar reminds me of an incident way back in the early eighties outside a Sydney venue called the Rock Garden. My friend was wearing a studded belt and the cops saw us standing outside and picked him up and took him to Kings Cross Police station, took his belt saying it was a potential weapon and released him after a few hours.
My puppy will willingly sleep in her kennel when I'm there. However when I have to leave for an hour or two she freaks out and was able to open the double sided latched kennel and trash the place. I'm having to place heavey furniture in front of the kennel doors so she won't get out.
If you are an active person, and who will put in an abundance of work into the dog well then I think yes. If you do any less or cannot commit and give 1000% to the dog well then I think no, you and the dog will regret it.
