  • In a recent revelation that sent shockwaves through the electric vehicle industry, Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares issued a stark warning, challenging the prevailing narrative surrounding the all-encompassing shift towards EVs. Tavares, known for his skepticism about EVs, believes that political pressures are driving the industry towards an unsustainable future.
    Tavares' Warning: A Closer Look
Tavares, who took the helm at Stellantis in January 2021, expressed concerns about the challenges and costs associated with transitioning to EVs. He emphasized that manufacturing electric vehicles is 50% more expensive than conventional combustion vehicles. Tavares pointed out a critical dilemma faced by automakers: whether to pass on these additional costs to consumers, making EVs unaffordable for the middle class, or to accept lower profit margins and potentially face cutbacks and job losses

It is laughable that the CEO of the company that owns Ram (AKA Dodge) says he is worried about reliability and costs when all they are making is top level trim trucks with prices upwards of $80,000 and for years reliability was not a key indicator of their products.
Tesla has created new manufacturing processes that significantly lowers the cost per vehicle. The legacy auto makers just don’t want to change or cut margins.
I have no sympathy. It is either innovative or die. Choose one, Carlos.

Legacy auto had all 30 years of christmas break to figure out how to build EVs or other zero emission cars, now they are claiming the dog ate their homework.

Tavares missed the boat... now he rationalizes why it wasn't a real boat. Enjoy your remaining days.

It is true that the epa and nhtsa have declared war against Ram but this does not excuse stellantis from turning their back on their customers! We bought these vehicles in good faith with hard earned money. Stellantis FCA ram did not have the right to sell us defective cars and trucks and then refuse to service their mistake or even provide parts for us to pay for the manufacturers defects ourselves, after all that won't cost them anything!
