I just noticed that my mistake was in expecting the computer to perform the burn for me when in fact it seems to only tell you what to do and to let you burn on your own.
It's in-game yes, it's a hot key you can bind or just open it from the Mission Tools menu. It's also a link to a download in the description of the Burn and PAD tutorial video if you rather want to use a pen.
I hope that one day, this simulator will look like the thumbnail
