- In this video we make a quick repair to an intex 635t pool pump. This is not a long term repair. It was only supposed to be short term so the pool had a pump running while we waited for the new pump to arrive.
Also you can replace the shaft directly with a 4.25mm dia piece of aluminum cut to length (don't use steel , rust )
if you are looking for such a piece. you have to go no farther than a knitting needle at Wallmart to make an anodized replacement shaft. be as exact as you can in length. So far , been running two seasons and now on the third.
Thanks for the heads up , they didn’t have the 4.25 so I used the 4mm and it’s humming again !!! So instead of going to work and make 10x what a new filter would have cost I ran around all day buying knitting needles, watching RUclips videos and assembling & disassembling a cheap motor .... it works now though 😜🤪🤣😆
Knitting needle worked great. Only thing to watch for is the needles with a flat/wide spot in them, right in the middle. I had to dremel mine a tiny bit to get it down to size. So either get a long needle, or be prepared to thin out the flat spot.
That’s freakn brilliant.
Nice suggestion--love to repurpose materials for quick n' dirty repairs. I will say that in a pinch to get my aquarium filter running, I did like the uploader by splitting the shaft, but I put the sheared off stubs inside the magnet cylinder as spacers to keep the impeller aligned and shaft embedded in the base and cap. Summer party coming up so that's my plan for this growling freebie pump.
Today, I hooked up my Intex 633T (2500GPH) and it hummed! purchased it last year. Turns out, all I had to do was reach in the inlet, with a screwdriver (pump unplugged, of course), and give the impeller a twirl. Plugged it back in, and wala! Runs great, once again!
Do you have a video
@@latinacop41 that would be nice
I had another Intex 635T die on me and when I opened it up the magnet was completely rusted out but the shaft was completely intact. I had another one that died about 3 years ago and the shaft was broken. After about 30 minutes of putting one together with the other it's working! Thanks for the very helpful video.
Fantastic tip, I got my basic Intex Krystal clear pump working again just by pulling out that ceramic pin/shaft (which had snapped at one end) and fitting it back in again, it was shorter but as long as it fits in the rubber seal end it worked. So happy with the result. THANKYOU!
This video helped me understand what was wrong with my pump, problem fixed, thanks so much!
Your video helped me a lot! I didn't have the same problem, but it helped me realize that my impeller was broken. The shaft was OK in my case. We could have, at least, save one pump!!
Our 635T started leaking out of the bottom yesterday . I'm going to tear it apart and take a look. It still pumps fine but pumps some of the water out of the bottom. I hope to find an easy fix and parts from the hardware store.
These pumps are so bad! We buy a new pump each year. Going to try to fix a few old ones.
My case is, the pump works for awhile, but stops after the minute, but I've power it up again and works again for few and stops, wonder what could be the issue?
Thanks Man - good fix. Just set up my pool for the year and my pump, which worked fine last October, is not starting up. From your fine video, I can see how to disassemble. I think the rotor is stuck maybe. Wondered if in your case going to hardware store and looking for a metal rod of the same diameter might have given you a permanent fix? Could be issues though with the magnet involved? Thanks again for posting this info on the 635T.
Could you possibly show the wiring on the inside of the pump?
Thx, what was your initial problem? Mines is sucking, but not pushing water out
I have a similar pool with pump, my pump stopped working, I took it apart and it seems like the impeller is worn on the inside so when the magnet spins the impeller does not. Any advice for a quick fix? Maybe super glue the impeller to the magnet?
my pump is running but not priming and pulling water into filter. any idea what it may be?
thanks good information . i have my best way pump it sound like working . but it doesnt do any thing ?
I have to agree: Intex sucks! Unless there's a reason to use ceramic, it's designed to fail. You don't want to take the top off as that's the switch and timer. The timer knob has a little rod on it that's hard to line back up when putting the top back on. I get why they don't sell replacement parts as they don't want you to take that part of the pump off. Don't get it back on right and water leaks on the other side where the electrics are.
Won't hurt to try. I expected to get more than one use out of this pump. I replaced the stock pump with either this one or one similar for a pool that I will probably scrap this fall. But, if it lasts only a few weeks, waste of money. My case, I think it's simply the bearings in the motor going. Rod good, peller good. Won't buy Intex again.
I find it a joke to say don't run the pump while in the pool but then everyone uses the adjustment knobs while it's running to get the air out. Not saying let it run and get in the pool, don't. I'm saying all these chemicals are good at transmitting electricity and it doesn't matter if you're in the pool or not to get a shock.
How long did it last? Thanks for the video!

It WORKED!!! Thank you!
@@thundolis whats the length?
It's chinese made, they R&D'd it to fail so you buy... you buy more, you gotta buy when warrenty run out 60 day haha, you make rich chi knee, lotta money, you broke dum dum merican haha. Thanks for making this , i'm going outside to get some more of my hard earned money from this craptastic chinese engineering.
El agua es una Mierda
Only thing you shouldn’t have done was use glue. You can replace the shaft, but the little rubber ends you glued the shaft to will be much harder to find and replace, now that they’re glued to the broken shaft. Long-term, get some brass 1/8 in rod, cut to match the length of the original shaft, and it will last for a while. Periodic replacement of that shaft is the norm with these designs, unfortunately.
I had a car once and the shaft for the carb was bad. The mechanic was an older guy used to fixing these things but his main problem was he'd stop and talk to someone for hours meaning your car would take days to have fixed. He used a welding rod for that. Not sure if it'd be the same thickness.
why didn't you got a stainless steel shaft or even aluminium same thickness
thanks for the video > based on your video I opened my faulty pump and found that the shaft is somehow enlarged to its stuck and fan not running when I removed the shaft with the fan assemble. motor starts to run, now where I can find a replacement shaft or can I reshape it to fit and not stuck. thanks in advance
Have the same pool also hit it free. But the pump is a bit iffy it runs and moves water so I took it apart and the little fan that you removed spins but stops and just shakes in place and had to be pushed but then it'll stop. The stick is not broken idk any ideas?
my pump is throwing its plugs breaker
I have a question about this pump. On the top of the impeller, is there a rubber grommet or a gasket of any kind to hold that ceramic stem in place to keep the impeller from having so much play in it?
Yes
All this shaft, hole and insertion 😍😜
