Thanks! I've started working on your backlog of stuff as well, catching myself up. I like that our two S-boat series are similar but just different enough to compliment each other with different ships, locations, and information.
May favorite anecdote on unrestricted submarine warfare was the trial of Admiral Karl Dönitz, who was being accused of unrestricted submarine warfare as a war crime. US Admiral Chester Nimitz issued a statement in his defense, basically saying, "Hey, we did the exact same thing."
Even for a video game this is just about the ballsiest attack I've ever seen. You were in that convoy so deep they probably logged you as friendly fire.
Both you and Wolfpack are my favorites by far. You both bring something unique to this game. It’s a great day for viewers when two sub vids come out on the same day
Wolfpack was my gateway to this game. I just found this channel today and have been binging it. I love the stories and history in the videos, I really hope there's a lot more to come.
A two hour video? Well, I'll just watch one hour and then another hour later.....*two hours later being glued to the screen*.. holy crap, Devin.. you're crazy!
Hell's teeth, what a rollercoaster of genius and insanity rapped up in a blanket of minute to minute action! 😲😯🤯 that was incredible! You must have ball's the size of Greenland! I thought you'd bought the farm on at least a dozen occasions, only to calmly pull back from the brink and plan another audacious attack 😲 the USN wanted aggressive commanders, and by God they got one! That was nothing short of epic, can't wait for the next installment. 👍🍺
Your video series on Silent Hunter 4 is great. I have learned a lot on the strategy and tactics. I am trying to run the same setup for mods as it looks so good. Can you give the list of mods that you were using? It is not real clear which versions of RFB and RSRDC you were running, and any others that were part of it. I know that I am late to the game on this but have found it and love the strategy and feel of the sim.
Maaan, this is the crasiest episode of all I've seen on Subsims so far! You're so lucky and yet precise on this attack on the convoy. 11/10, man, just awesome!
I really do enjoy your videos, just got into playing Silent Hunter 4 not that long ago. Also love that you go into the history about submarine warfare.

I am glad I found this channel months ago, keep up the good work bud, and boy it would be exciting to see the class of submarine that’s comin next episode

11:40 That did not make British merchant vessels combatants. Merchant vessels had the right to protect themselves from attack. Now if the merchant vessels had been sailing around looking for U-boats to sink then they would be combatants. Edit: I should also say that U-boats did not had to adhere to cruiser prize rules if the merchant was armed or in a convoy. But if it was an unarmed merchant sailing by itself, sinking it without warning is a war crime.
That was legally correct. Shame you didn't have a fleet boat with more torpedoes, as badly as you mauled that convoy in an S boat, imagine what you could have done to it with a bigger boat. Even as it is when you get back to port your ratings are going to be bragging in the enlisted's club about how you sunk the whole Japanese navy. In the meantime, I bet those escort skippers commit seppeku after this. It has been a very long night for this convoy, because of the time it takes to set up attacks they probably JUST get started to relax then BOOM! Another hit, plus the shelling, they probably think they have two or three subs attacking them. The brass will be very pleased with this and your crew have to be walking around like they just took all the Viagra.
Lol, I only just saw this. Yes, historically there were several single-sub attacks that rattled Japanese commanders so badly they reported over radio that they were under attack by an entire wolfpack. I hope we joined those ranks!
Such attacks are simply not possible in UBOAT. Unfortunatly, its way too arcadic for a realistic simulation. You are spotted the moment you hit something. Surface attacks are also impossible

This was one tense chase, and probably one of the most aggressive I've seen in an sh4 video. I'm suprised you didn't get killed several times over.
The conditions of the night and the seas were just right to really hide the sub. This will likely be less possible as escorts and technology improve.
