Could not for the life of me understand how to remove the movement until I viewed your video and you mentioned 1/2 screws. Was able to remove in 5 minutes. Thanx.
I gave My Brother a Elgin made in 1891 and I had to replace the roller table jewel and the main spring . It is only 7 jewel but keeps really good time .
i have the same one made in 1895. It still works, but im not sure if it has the original case. Its a twist off Philadelphia Watch Co Case serial numbered.
FYI, the un-bluded screw under the barrel bridge has a thinner head so it will sit below the plate bridge as to not interfere wit the seating of the balance cock.
There are other ways to remove that hand, but I prefer removal with dial. The hand rests on a long 4th wheel pivot, and this way I don't use a tool that might put unequal force on one side of the pivot. Further, the seconds hand should be just lightly friction fit and comes off easily with the dial. If the hand is very tightly fit, though, there may better a way - I'm open to other suggestions always. Cheers - Redvitis

Why use the face to remove the seconds hand?
