  • This excerpt from the 2008 HBO Documentary "Back Nine at Cherry Hills" is nothing short of spine tingling. Sadly, this documentary cannot be purchased on DVD, and is also not on HBO's "On Demand" service.

Love the line from Decan…. There’s no reason you can’t be a great player and a good guy

I PLAYED A LOT OF GOLF WITH A MASTER'S WINNER.. HERMAN TOLD ME THAT HOGAN WAS NOT A NICE GUY. FRANK HARNAD SAID HE RODE IN THE SAME CAR TO THE COURSE WITH HOGAN, AND HAD THE SAME LOCKER NEXT TO HOGAN SEVERAL TIMES, AND HOGAN (NEVER ONCE) SAID A WORD TO HIM. JUST NOT A FRIENDLY GUY.

Johnny Miller tells the unflattering story about introducing himself to Ben when Johnny played in his first US Open as an amateur in 1966 at Olympic. All Hogan said to him was "Can't you see I'm eating my soup?". Pretty harsh to act that way towards a 19 year old kid. Hogan was the original "Get off my lawn!" guy.

Jack said "golfers are selfish" I couldn't agree more. A sport that takes so much away from family, friends and life. Look no further than the destruction of Tiger & family, sad.
