How To Catch Bass With Plastic Worms! ** Amazing Underwater Footage **

- Want to become a better fisherman? There is no better way than to head underwater and study bass behavior! Come along as Tim teaches how to get the most out of plastic worms while studying actual underwater footage of bass eating ned rigs and dropshot worms.
We learn a ton about bass behavior when we head underwater, but we also learn about the lures we're using. Pay close attention to Tim's tips on hook weight and how much action to give your worm, based on the water temp and season you're fishing. Also, you'll notice in the underwater shots that no two baits are created equal so focus your attention on baits with neutral buoyancy and consistent action.
Below you'll find links to some of our favorite baits from each category. We've included our best colors, as well as our preferred rigging components. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

Berkley Powerbait The Champ Jerk Minnow, most realistic baitfish soft plastic I’ve ever used, slaying walleye and smallmouth on a dropshot rig on 30-50 degree water
Its hard for me to slow down. I'm a freight train on greased rails
Thats how i am too , I can never put the crank bait down .
Excellent reminder to slow down.
Here in AZ, we’re fishing in 52-54 degree water since the recent cold front came through.
We’re in a better temperature recovery mode.
Thank you so much.
Thanks Tim we appreciate the vid. May God Bless and tight lines
thanks for another great video from you guys! Greetings from Germany 😊
What type of straight tail worm from Yamamoto do you recommend for the dropshot? The pro senko, the thin senko or the regular senko? You held it up quickly and it was not listed in the description. Thanks.
Thanks Tim for todays Episode 😊😊
Tim - you are the best - thank you
Great information as always! Very cool underwater footage!
I appreciate the bang for the buck links. Good equipment for good prices.
Awesome info and videos! Thanks Tim
Nice video, Tim. Also, to take some of the action out of your drop shot worm, you can tread it on instead of nose hooking it.
Thanks!
Very good video. Excellent information. Thanks for sharing your great tips.
i love the underwater footage!
The 7’3” MLXF St. Croix Legend Tournament is a wonderful rod for Ned Rigs, too!
Good stuff Tim well done
Thanks for these videos guys. I placed 4th in my first 2024 tournament thanks to y’all’s Tactical DD. “Burn burn burn, pause. Burn burn, pause. Burn pause”. Those fish hit it like a freight train on the pause. Now I’m a fan of deep cranking. Tight lines! 🎣
That’s awesome! Isn’t it amazing how hard they hit it on slack line?
@@tacticalbassin happened 3 times and it was the only 3 fish I caught that day. Quality of fish put me in 4th, but y’all’s Tactical DD was the juice to get them to bite. Also caught my PB on it last weekend. Phenomenal bait 🎣
Thank you Tim!
Hey Tim, I have a question. I’m getting a baitcaster but I’m stuck between getting a 7’5 heavy for frogging and heavier jigs/t-rigs. Or a 6’10 medium moderate for jerkbaits cranks and maybe weightless stick baits every now and then. What one do you think I should get. I have only one other bait caster that’s 7,3 mh and I live in upstate ny. Any help from anyone else is appreciated too!
Thank you Tim,you did an awesome job ❤
I think my lake may be in pre-spawn conditions already (I live on the west coast)….the largemouth are munching lipless crankbaits…they’ve been aggressively biting the crankbaits since November….not gonna change unless the lipless bite dies down…I’d much rather catch bass on the lipless than a finesse dropshot rig.
Im in socal , I fish a square bill all year . Or the DT -8 , always on em .
Have y’all tried big bite baits “the limit maker” on a ned? I throw 3 Ned’s, a robo worm 3.5”, a finesse craw (that smaller size Yama craw is really cool/subtle) and then that limit maker. It has a pointed tail like a spunk shad vs a rounded end on a traditional worm. I’m gonna grab some ned zones to try n make a nice 3 worm rotation with that bulbous tail thanks to you 👍🏼
First person to catch Largemouth & Smallmouth on the Micro flex rig at Lake Sonoma Ca!
It's exactly what I've always wanted. It's up there with SuperMattbrown football jig & the guppy head. Thanks for what you do.
As always thank you for your time…
Thanks Tim
question i fish in saltwater and i use small red plastic worms would small plastic red worms work in salt water is mt question and how approach it any advice for me
Can also cut a 5” or 6” senko’s in half! Work great in a pinch and you probably already have some from the summer!
Great tip. I've been doing the same. I got a HUGE bulk pack of senkos on sale (Amazon). Can't recall the qty but something like 100. Got inexpensive ned baits for ages doing that.
Tim did you get your champion back? Because that’s what it looks like!
Where is Tactical Bass located? Where are you broadcasting from?
That champ is lookin good
Everytime i hear "plastic worm"..1st thing that pops in my head..Larry Nixon, the king of plastic worms used a 5 1/2' pistol grip rod & mono & tore them up...i have that exact same setup on 1 of my 30 combos just for the texas rig in tight quarters from the kayak..still works!
Where are these rocky/sandy bottom bodies of water? I live in south Georgia and everything I throw get caught on something. Even Texas rigs. It pisses me off.
Below zero with the windchill here today
I wish we here in NY had that kind of water condition
I never hear anyone talk about the Yamamoto Shad Shape Worm in the 3 or 4 inch size. For me this a a super drop shot bait year round! I start with it most of the time.
Works awesome on Carolina Rig too
Finally got the champ back from Hennessy! With fresh carpet and more I am sure! That’s what this video should be about!
Got it back but still need to put the finishing touches on 👍
Since we are in a worm video and still deep in winter, do you guys throw magnum straight tails during the winter. Coming up as a kid in AZ I always heard about “stitching” a worm and wonder y’all’s take on it.
Tim that’s your old boat
I triple dog dare you to come fish New England in the spring candlewood winni quabbin
Pretty soon, won't be a need for underwater vids...just copy and paste from your boat electronics 😅
That's probably true, unfortunately
I wanna know how to catchem with my real worm
