- Spot repair, also known as express repair, has become more prevalent in body shops. This process involves quickly repairing a small damaged area within one panel while maintaining quality. In this series Jason Garfoot, 3M Application Engineer, will walk us through the process.

just what I wanted to watch this morning. I was hoping it was the back door.
This is precisely the type of repair to use Paintless dent removal. For a tiny speck, you have to fix the entire door. How is that logical? Maybe that’s how it was done in the good all days. Nowadays, Paintless dent removal works miracles.
PDR is really hard when close to body contour lines. Contoured parts of the panel are often double folded or double layered metal. It’s a designed structural reinforcement within the panel. It’s not your typical thin sheet panel. You’re not pulling that out to perfection unless you have access to the other side of the panel. Even then, you would have to have to be a highly skilled pdr tech for such a feat. You could level that in less than 5 minutes with body filler.
I look at the original paint and think how do you match that when it’s so bad.
