That is a form of appeal to popularity fallacy. Is pop music the best music just because people know the names? Is fast food the best food just because more people know the names of the brands? No. People knowing about something doesn't make it good.

A lot of what makes a top guy a top guy, is how he gets over with the crowd. The more people who know him, the bigger star he becomes. Pro wrestling isn't all about dives, holds, spots and moves. It's about getting over to a large group of people.
If any title in wrestling has been protected lately it's the Universal Title due to how strong Roman has been booked since winning it.

Roman Reigns is the best thing going on. Bobby Lashley and MVP are up there too. I think everyone ( real wrestling fans )know that Omega is nowhere near to Roman's level. It's actually insulting to Roman Reigns.
Lashley/MVP I'd say is not as good. Reigns works great because he's got this whole tribal chief storyline that plays into the Usos and is interesting to see. Lashley makes a great champ for sure, but I'd rather watch Smackdown.
Omega makes an interesting heel champ, in that he can be a downright prick in his promos (much more than Reigns or Lashley imo), and that he has a squad around him constantly (dunno if that holds true for AAA, but for AEW and Impact it does) that definitely makes you want to see him taken down.
And I think that's what matters more. Lashley and Reigns, you want to continue to see as champ. Omega, you want to see lose.

Jim Cornette calls it like it is and I can't believe how overrated Omega is by so many people. Look at the names and types of performers mentioned as all time greats: Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, The Undertaker. In general the characters and charisma they had transitioned or carried over into other areas whether it was Hollywood, podcasts, or other media. They were special in wrestling and mainstream fans as well as hardcore fans could see that. Kenny Omega?? He is a great athlete and technician in pro wrestling but he is not even mentioned as a good promo. He isn't a great pro wrestler in terms of possessing all of the traits to get people invested emotionally. He could never be a mainstream star and had he gone to WWE it would have been comical to see what they did with them. I respect his ability as an athlete in the ring for sure but pro wrestling requires so much more to be considered the best in the World. Promos and charisma are critical.

@Ryan Wilson I remember early on he openly said their matches had too many spots in them or something along those lines and his opinion was pretty much ignored and I think from then he hasn't given too much constructive criticism because the Kleenex supply was running low or something. In all honesty his opinion doesn't seem to be liked unless it is praising the talent.

To be honest, Omega left what talent he had back in Japan. You can tell that it was the opponents who made him look good, because he's the shits when he isn't being carried through a match.
Orton is the prototype for the perfect wrestler. Athletic. Can work, talk and sell. Can play w/e role given, even if it is shit *cough* fiend feud *cough*. Has a great look and inherited the Orton wrestling genes, no doubt.

I don't get the hype around Omega. I watch AEW and he makes me want to change the channel. He is absolutely awful at promos. His matches look way too choreographed and I hate the way he sells. I dunno. Everytime he is mentioned as "the best in the world" I feel embarrassment as a wrestling fan. Gee, I wonder why wrestling isn't mainstream anymore lol. Show a non wrestling fan an Omega match or promo, I gaurentee you'd get laughed at.
His promos are too Japanese. His acting skill is bad. He needs a couple years of lessons.
Cody & Jake Roberts are literally the best on the mic that AEW has.
As a pure athlete Omega is the very best. In a match his skill set is too varied, going way way too fast. Nothing truly gels together.
He depends on high impact which got old when he was in New Japan.
This post is so accurate. With today's wrestling, don't ever let a hot girl know you watch this nerdy garbage, you'll get laughed at. Attitude Era, ECW, and WCW felt like being at a rock concert or huge party, so hot girls would be there all the time.
I couldn't agree more. I change the channel almost anytime he's on TV. His matches are over hyped gymnastics routines that tell no story. He is boring to watch and cringe worthy the rest of the time.

The inly edge i think styles has on omega is that styles has giod technical abillity, he can grapple. Athletically speaking omega gets the win and on the mic theyre both pretty meh. They're neck and neck in my opinion. I lean more towards styles though

I think the most protected title in the business right now is the 24/7. Everybody wants it, people bring it everywhere they go and we've seen so many of the wrestlers of that division doing anything to hold it.

I really liked Omega's series with Okada in NJPW. Matches went a little long but I thought they were good. HOWEVER, seeing how Kenny has been in North America the last few years, I'm getting the vibe that Okada was the one carrying him through those matches
Cornette and Ross are both cut from the same cloth, and have almost the exact same opinions. Main difference is that Cornette has anger issues, and chooses to hold grudges.
Well, and he won't do something JUST for the money...as J.R. will...nothing wrong with that...but there are times calling AEW where he sounds about as excited as someone who took a week's supply of thorazine.

Rollins and Balor are not better wrestlers. Rollins can be better on the mic, but I haven’t heard Finn talk so I can’t say. As a wrestler omega beats both by a mile.
