      Oof... soooo TRUE! Once you start rolling out multiple projects in this game, if you're not on your "A" game for multi-tasking..... heh heh..... it'll swallow you up! So many days trying to do things when I was mentally exhausted and I end up coming back on a day when I'm refreshed and look around saying: "What in Sam Blazes was I doing here last time!?!?" I empathize with you on this subject. and Aprox is NOT WRONG! Totally falls into the "Dory Brains" category! [got to remember that for future use... so cool ] GL with your builds Nun!

    FYI, when adding stuff to the milestones, you can "ctrl+click" a material to fill the required material, if you have enough.

    also, i would advice you to have more fluid stations for this transport. the fluid carts hold 1600m3, youre producing 2400 m3, so you would need to have 3 carts arriving every 2 minutes to have the 2400m3 actually put through. this means you will need quite a few trains to not run into throughput issues and therefor you will clog up your railroad very quickly. assuming trains from later lines will use the same track. its better to double or triple your fluid stations and splitting the input equally, then combine them again at the unloading station. basically youre increasing your buffer then and buy yourself more time to get longer but fewer trains to provide enough throughput. i have 2200+ hours in the game so i hope youll trust me on this one

    • @approximatelybored
      @approximatelybored  Год назад +12

      Amazing advice, i was secretly hoping someone like you would come along lol 😂👌 i have an idea that setting timing on the loading stations to hold trains for like 1 minute and adding a "waiting area" parking so there is always a train ready to be loaded could help with the transit and also keeping the train tracks clear of sitting trains 🤷‍♂️

      what i always like to do is package the oil, cause the cargo containers have a lot more space than the fluid ones

      The other question is whether you want your power to rely on a train in the first place. If the train is late (or if it gets derailed or something), your power plant might run dry. With priority power switches and multiple power plants, this is less of a problem, since you'll probably just lose some less-important production rather than losing the whole grid like we did in Update 7, but it's still a risk factor to consider. You should, at a minimum, make sure that you have some number of power plants that don't rely on the train, and make sure those plants produce enough to keep the train running. Bear in mind that most reasonable grid layouts will not be able to put the train itself behind a priority power switch (because it has too many interconnection points with the rest of the grid), so if you can't afford to run the train, you will probably lose the whole grid.
      One option is to construct all power plants right on top of their associated resources, and use the train strictly for transporting byproducts (plastic, rubber, etc.) away from the power plant for further processing. That way, the train running late cannot cause the power plant to run dry, and you can always sink excess byproducts locally if the train can't keep up with them.

    That came out looking great! I appreciate seeing someone else not super familiar with train infrastructure that still banged out a nice smooth design as I've been avoiding tackling my existing lumpy ugly ass routes and stations. At least now I know it's possible to make a respectable network without the crazy practice time sink that alotta other building techniques require.
    Really enjoying this series! Glad I found it. This is not a suggestion or unrequested advice but just a thought. Your shroom build was cool and unique and I was sad to see it visually fade away when the towers were built on top. It might not be super efficient but I'd love to see more flat, wide shroom style structures around!
    Anyway I'm looking forward to seeing how your world keeps developing.

  • @dannymerov

    when i build train stations, i always build them back to front, using the "train station" only and once im done, i delete them all except the one on the front and then place the freight or fluid stations. the train station itself you can just connect back to back so the spacing will never be wrong.

  • @MrHaggyy
    @MrHaggyy Год назад +1

    Fluids and trains can be a pain. You can fill 1600m^3 in one station at 600m^3 in 2:40min. So the roundtrip time needs to be lower for one train, or you need to divide the roundtrip time by 2:40min and round up. So if your train needs like 5min you would need 2 of them as 5:00

    • @approximatelybored
      @approximatelybored  Год назад +1

      I was feeling better and better about my project as I read through this. The timings, the solutions all lines up with my discoveries on this journey. I ended up using a fully load/unload setting + double pipe inputs/outputs in the stations and a gigantic fluid buffer system in delivery area. I also designed this route in a way that gas 6 inputs/outputs even thou I need only 5 so in theory I'll also have a nice supplementary line to smooth out any flow inconsistencies 👌
      The train round trip is ~5min 30s but both trains arrive at roughly the same time (~1min 30s gap) because of the fill/empty duration on the stations. So the total combined delivery time of 19200 oil is 7-8minutes. Once the extraction buffers run dry it should normalize at ~9-10minutes which leads me to believe I'll need 4 total trains running the loop 🤐

    • @MrHaggyy
      @MrHaggyy Год назад

      @@approximatelybored well you have 6*1600=9600 oil per train with ~5:30min you get: 9600/(5*60+30)*60 = 1745 oil/min per train. So if you separate two train with fully load/unload or wait 2:45 (165sec) you get 3490 oil/min.

    Hey Aprox! Your designs are gorgeous and your content is awesome! Great stuff!
    If you're struggling with railway intersections, I highly recommend Toaster Gaming's train tutorial (he does youtube stuff too). It is hands-down the best guide for making any kind of intersection with confidence. (Sorry I hope it's not rude promoting another creator's content, but this guide helped me a ton and I now consider myself a pro because of it) Anyway, looking forward to seeing more of your content in future. Keep it up! :)

      I can agree on that recommendation. Toaster Gaming has the definitive train building guide for Satisfactory. I have watched those videos several times while I have been building out my rail system. I haven’t even started using it yet to transport anything but I have a nearly map wide system of rails so that I’ll be able to just add stations near the resources. Never forget the golden rule. Path signals at the entrances to complex intersections and block signals at the exits.

    Had a perfect spot for a plant in the forest's canyon planed to go up 10 stories. In the middle of placing cool bridge like x with angled foundation supports, the moth flys overhead and dives low under a stone arch. I did not change the plan. I built around his path.
    Trees in titan forest makes me want to rip my hair out when building bridges just under the canopy. So many invisible /oversized collision boxes. Supposedly fixed in update 8.

    the author is a "genius", why pull wires parallel to the railway tracks that conduct electricity and can power a jetpack from them ????
    and why make such an idiotic huge road when you could create a spiral climb that looks much more compact

    • @approximatelybored

      Haha. Spiral railroads are unnecessary and look like 💩. Like what, you afraid you'll run out of SPACE? 🤣 pulling wires separately on the other hand, is genius... for a caveman 🐒 I take that you like building things as small as possible, nothing wrong with that, but dont be a scumbag going around calling people idiots for enjoying the game in a different way than you 😉
