I've heard this preached differently. Back during those times some suggested you could divorce your wife if she burnt the toast. What if she were a misfortunate woman that had 5 men that used her for a temporary marriage? Now the 6th wouldn't marry her. Is that this woman's fault? What if she had a father that didn't protect her? What if she didn't have a father? Is she supposed to starve to death rather than live with a man? What if she isn't nasty? What if she's bearing the shame of deceitful men? Jesus lifts her up.
