Griff, you are a great teacher, I have bought several of your courses as well as many others, I keep coming back to you. Keep it up, you have an amazing teaching talent. I hope you are very successful. Every time I watch one of your videos I get a gem of knowledge that makes things mesh. Thank you.
this has to be the most helpful scales video on youtube!!!!! you don't understand how long and hard ive searched for a video like and this I don't think anyone has ever explained it this smoothly. thank you sooo much!! I was soloing INSTANTLY once you explained the intervals and how you can literally play the same scale in all 5 boxes! thank you, amazing video!!!!
Help get you out of a jam... I see what you did there! :) Great lesson. I've been trying to find someone clearly explaining the intervalic structure of the boxes. They are a nice guiding point, but it seems like once you know the degrees between the notes, and understand of what each scale is built, you have your map. Thanks for a great lesson!
A++. Griff, you have a wonderful way of taking guitar theory and making it easy to visualize and remember. You are one of the best instructors. Thank you and keep up the great, great work.
This is awsome for me because I do have a quite bad memory. but I see it more easily if explained with intervals! First guy that showed me how to memorize penta boxes!! Thank you!!! An suscribed too
Thank you for this video. I'm an intermediate player and I'm comfortable with all 5 boxes of the minor pentatonic scales. I catch myself trying to play up into boxes 2, 4 and 5 when playing a lead over a 12 bar blues and switching to the 4 and 5 chords. I don't know if this is correct or not...
Hi griff. im new to this. im in to your every chord is one and your left facing pentatonics. But its all so confusing. At the moment i just deem to be playing the same old licks. very rarely do i find something that seems different. Stuck in the same boxes same old pattern same old licks. When i hear you play on these videos im playing the same scales you are but i could never in a million years play the licks you come up with. I feel im stuck in a rut and dont know where to go next. But your videos are encouraging. thanks man.
Why not just learn the intervals. I've never thought in boxes just know that above the root you have the fifth and below it you have the fourth three frets from root you have minor third two frets back from root you have flat7 and so on. Applies anywhere on the neck obviously making adjustments for the b string when appropriate
I think you missed a great opportunity to explain how the box "wraps around" to the lower strings with the intervals where the high E and low E are essentially the same interval. In general, this is good, and a great way to look at things, but explaining the wrap around would make it even better. I think more people should teach this visualization.

Thank you! I really appreciate it.
This is really helpful and a great way to learn intervals from the root wherever you start using Box 1.

It's amazing how as you progress in your learning how things make sense. Great lesson
"we have 1 scale, played in 5 different ways"...so simple but so wonderfull. Thank you very much! Grazie 1000 !!

Brilliant Griff thank you. One of the best instructions for pentatonics cheers
Thank you very much, that certainly gave me another perspective of how to relate the positions to each other.
