    As a former marine corps military police officer it is quite clear to me that the individual officers involved in this incident do not have the balance and judgement to serve as officers of the peace -- there is also a serious issue of management involved here--it is highly unlikely that these hotheads have not engaged in similar bullying at other times.

      To be so blatantly arrogant to think that a civilian doesn't have the right to say to you that you as a police officer are endangering his or her safety is beyond stupid and incompetent.

    The police culture of "I've got the power to act any way I want" has been in place so long that it has become the default for some police men. Once the adrenaline rises they are oblivious to the ubiquitous cell photos and videos. As Borough President Adams states these officers must be disciplined and held fully accountable for their actions. And everyone in the precinct involved in the attempt to cover up should be investigated and disciplined as well. If they are found to be unfit to stay in the precinct; fire them; don't send those lousy cops to another precinct.

    I worked for the postal system years ago and I know that before anyone a postal worker is the highest rank according to the law. If the postal worker is killing someone or committing a crime that is another matter but, if he/she is on the job they come first. Their vehicle has the right of way before a police car, a fire engine or an ems van. This is true. The letters and packages in his truck were property and cannot be left unattended. They all should be fired.

      +cagedtigersteve Double parking is not an arrestable offense; it's not a crime whatsoever. This never happens to blacks. I doubt you're black at all. In many minority neighborhoods throughout NYC, people double park EVERYDAY as a matter of routine. When it's alternate side parking time, you will see rows of doubleparked cars blocking in entire blocks of parked cars. On top of that, people still double park at all hours of the day, which is why it's a nightmare to drive thru the bronx or harlem if you're not from there.

      When you are black a cop will find the smallest infraction to charge you with even if he is wrong. It's just something about the police culture within America that makes people in power to look down on others because of their race.

If it was for a driving offense they would have requested his driver's license. He did the right thing by refusing to get his ID because if he had they would not have been exposed. God bless him. • @GFlCh
      @GFlCh 8 лет назад +1

      +Teresa Allen - Of course, this situation is inexcusable on the part of the police officers, but if the postal worker had committed a crime, the police officers would have jurisdiction to arrest him. But as the gentleman in the video said, the officers are probably required to follow specific procedures and notifications when interfering with or arresting a federal employee.

    • @mellowseller9762
      @mellowseller9762 8 лет назад +4

      Kevin Fegan Local police do not have jurisdiction over on duty federal employees. Also, USPS is a separate sovereign. Do your research. Violations occur daily due to ignorance. This officers had no authority to touch the postal worker or the mail he was delivering.

    • @GFlCh
      @GFlCh 8 лет назад +1

      ***** - "Local police do not have jurisdiction over on duty federal employees."
      I am not an expert on the matter. If what you say is true, I would be very surprised. So, if a federal employee was committing a crime, like theft, assault, or murder, the local police would not be able to arrest them, or intervene? I don't know, it sounds a bit like some kind of super diplomatic immunity. As you say, I guess I'll have to do some more research.
      But as far as this particular situation, I think we can agree, at least according to the information that we have here, that these officers did not have "probable cause" or "reasonable suspicion", and they should not have arrested the postal worker, even if he was not a postal worker or other federal employee, in other words, just a "normal" citizen.
      In any case, since the police did issue the postal worker a summons, are you saying that since the police don't have jurisdiction over him, he can ignore the summons without consequence?

    This is the exact reason the Black Panthers came into being. Black men and women being harassed, threatened and arrested by armed police in their own neighborhoods while not engaged in illegal activity. If police were not armed they would not be acting in this fashion. They would have to use civil courtesy while on duty.

    Then they still don't charge you for a crime that led to your arrest, but charge you for "resisting arrest ", when you did not commit a crime to be arrested for in the first place. 🤔🤔😨😨😠😠

    I have to say I give props to Borough President Eric Adams on this. Regardless of race (which seems to in this case been a factor in the postal worker's arrest), Eric is right about what is the most important thing: a FEDERAL Postal Worker who had not committed a crime just interfered with the duties of the US Mail Service. This is a serious violation of Federal Law and in fact a FELONY. While I generally am supportive of the police and have had issues with previous BLM cases where the individual in question attacked the police officer to provoke a response, there is nothing in this case that can justify what these officers did against an ON DUTY, UNIFORMED Federal Employee.My FULL support goes to the Postal Worker's family and himself, as well as Eric Adams and hopefully the United States Postal Inspection Service who SHOULD investigate this interference with the priority it deserves. We are a nation of laws, and no one - not even the police in this instance - are above it. And they should NOT get special treatment for such a flagrant abuse of power and authority.

    If these were undercover officers they just blew their undercover status. This whole thing sounds insane on the part of these officers. If they didn't like what the postman said they should report him as any citizen would do. He did not commit any crime. As stated it sounds like a Freddie Gray or Eric Gardener where the officers wanted to kill this poor 27 y/o man who probably was in fear for his life. Not from the streets of Brooklyn but from the guardian Angels and protectors. This is shameful.

    I think a petition should be done and signed that cops in every state like this should be fired on the spot and held in contempt. wrongful arrests, harrassing colored civilians, shooting innocent and unarmed people and lying about it on the wimb should be fined and stripped of their position. The Chiefs of police and other higher ups who lie about it and know that their subordinates are in the wrong and still tries to justify them should also be stripped.
    They also REALLY need to work on who they hire in the departments: people who really want to to be a cop for justice and being rightful and FAIR to everyone, while avoiding pigs who think they're above the law because they have badges. It's just not fair for this to keep going on because they fell it's right when it's rightfully wrong.
    What's next, they're gonna arrest a fire fighter for putting out a fire and telling them to stay back from the flames?
    Every time I see stuff like this I can't help but think that even kids could be hired as an officer at this point.
    It's gotta stop...
