I did not take offense at all when Em had the Trump cypher prolly cause I grew up on his music and I respect him too much to be upset no matter what, although I’m sure there were a lot who were upset 😂 Em had Trump introduce Him back in 02-03 at a show and everyone loved Trump until the moment he said he was running for president then all of a sudden he became “racist”.

Eminem added that verse in the song to take some of the heat off of Marilyn over to him because he felt the blame was unjustified

I was 15 when columbine happened and i use to listen to marilyn alot back then and i was just starting to really love rap/hip-hop and when this song came out i found hella respect for Em for showing love for a goth artist.
The thing is that the shooters weren’t fans of his (Marilyn Manson) they actually disliked his music. If you watch the interview with him this is stated ( I’m pretty sure, it’s been awhile). But it was still blamed on him through conclusions and fear.

My father died in 2007 but was so fucking in love with Em's music before he passed. I grew up seeing my Dad bump this song so fucking much, in fact, the whole entire album! I never can remember my Dad but when Em plays.....I can slightly remember him! I was 17 when he passed but seeing him dead killed my head so bad. But Em makes my pops alive and I gitta thank Shaq for showing me the old Em 😍 memory lane. Haven't been able yo trigger memories of my Dad since he passed. PSTD :(

I was a teen when he started blowing up and am thankful to have fully witnessed a legend in the making. For years he was all anyone listened to. Probably one of my favorite if not my favorite Em track of all time. The organ in this is so powerful. His voice is so somber and angry at the same time. It's a point of clarity on the album, but you can tell the fire is just burning out of control in him on this track.

The part of the song that talks about the kid getting bullied and shoots up his school, he was talking about columbine highschool shooting. The media went on a frenzie blaming music and movies and they singled out Eminem and Marilyn Manson(an amazing musical artist btw) to blame the shooting on.
You have to understand that these songs talk about real and specific issues that were going on AT THAT TIME.
Another song (Im Back) on the album makes a reference to it as well. "I take seven kids from columbine, add an ak47, a revolver, a nine, and thats a whole school of bullies shot up all at one time" which was censored on the parental advisory version.

I'll never forget the first time I heard the bar "When a dudes gettin' bullied and shoots up his school", it was after Columbine and while the shooters were condemned no one thought that maybe if someone had been there to intervene and keep it from escalating they could've prevented it. I went to a high school that was so violent I lost 6 of my friends in a week to gun violence and it was BARELY mentioned anywhere, but, when it happened in middle America suddenly it was news. Like their lives were more important than the friends I lost just because I grew up in the 'hood. And did anything change after Columbine? NO! Bullying and shootings are more prevalent than ever. But I guess it's easier to blame movies, music, and video games than it is to actually confront the real problem....In the words of the legendary Ice T, "We all want peace but our war won't end....Til ALL wars cease"!
