This all sounds great, but how does the EA500 LM compete with the already reviewed and appreciate EW200 at less than half the price?

Great review! Thank you. I have Both the EW200's and the 500 LM's and they are both fantastic. I am always surprised how good the 200's sound when I listen to them. That being said I agree with your review100%.

I’ve got the 200, and have been eyeing the basic version of these (500) up for a while, and now after these LM’s being released, well really the question is, if someone already owns the 200, is it worth upgrading to these new LM500’s? Will you feel there is a definite jump in performance? I ask because as you inferred, the 200’s are unusually good even for their price.

Well, like I said, they are not going to give you twice the performance at twice the price, but they are a definite improvement. At $89, they are still a great value to performance.

Great review! Just watched your hd 660s2 review as well. I know I'm asking a stupid question but how does ea500lm compare to 660s2?

There are no stupid questions! They are very different listening experiences, very different technologies, and definitely very different price to entry. Both edge towards a neutral and natural sound signature in general, but the HD660S2 offers a more refined, textured, and resolving experiences overall. Also, nothing beats HD600 series vocal timbre.

@bestcocbaseswithlink5069 hmm. The HD660S2 is a high impedance 300 ohm headphone. I don't think your phone alone will be quite enough. If you got a portable amp or amp dongle that would help a lot. Something like a ifi Hip Dac would do very well.

I have the hd650 and honestly I prefer these, but the Sennheiser give you the soundstage, the ea500 LM has very sharp details. The Sennheiser, I suggest get a Qudelix for your phone, laptop and TV Bluetooth lossless connection. The app is amazing too

What is the exact use of having the wire being detachable? Is it just in case the wire gets ruined, and you can get a replacement easily?

Yup. If you can replace the wire then a damaged wire doesn't mean you have to toss away the entire headphone. It also means you can buy different styles of wires, both for asthetics and function.

Some people like stiffer cables, some like softer. Some like thicker cables, some like thinner. Also, some people may want to combine different colors to look more stylish. You can also replace the cable with one with a microphone so you can also use it to communicate. Of course, the most important one is to be able to replace it when the cable is damaged. The earpieces are the most important part and no one would want to replace the whole unit only for a cable if they work fine. So, there are many reasons to have a detachable cable.

I have the EM6l's and they sound fantastic, I would say to my ears they are a little bit warmer sounding and need a bit more power to drive. I am a big Simgot fan!
