I think Andy called it correctly. China's last decade was one that excelled in labor intensive manufacturing. This decade is a transition decade in which China switches from labor intensive to brain intensive technologies. China has planned for this rise as China has increased its college graduates to more than twice that of the US and 40% of these graduates are STEM majors. China also graduates twice as many STEM PhD's as the US. These youths of China will be the backbone for China's technology rise and for China to avoid the 'middle income trap.' In 2024, we will see China become a significant player in semiconductors that are key to almost all technologies. China will continue their lead in NEV, batteries, AI, ship building, high speed rail, foreign infrastructure projects, pharmaceuticals, biotechnologies, space applications, and green energy. One area to watch is China's rise in nuclear. By 2030, China will have the largest nuclear power generation fleet in the world and newer 4th generation reactors will make their debut not only on land, but in the seas as merchant and naval ships start their transition to clean nuclear power in the form of molten salt reactors. Further, China holds the record for longest sustained nuclear fusion and is working now to make continuous nuclear fusion a reality. This decade will be China's decade of technology leadership in the world and will share that wealth with developing countries via its BRI initiative.
