As an alternative in power out I keep a fondue pot and fuel where you can heat soup or warm water for coffee. I have a variety of cook stoves and coleman camp gear. What a GREAT video, my dear friend. Definitely time well spent. I'm catching up on your videos and, as it happens, I'm not feeling well the past couple of days. Spending time with you has helped immensely. My house sold quickly and escrow closed on Sept. 22nd. I worked my fingers to the bone selling ALL my furniture except my master bedroom suite. It was grueling and I'm still living among the moving boxes in my tiny new apartment but I'm making progress. I love my new community and all the amenities but I DID wear myself out. I think of you and pray for you every day. Please continue to pray for me as well. Signed, "Pooped".
@@loiscampbell3510 Hi Lois 😁 I'm so happy to hear from you. I was keeping you in my prayers 🙏. I'm glad to hear that the house and your belongings sold. Take a breath and relax for a little while and take your time getting everything organized. You'll get there 😊❤️
I worked the majority of my career in the hospital setting as an Occupational Therapist. I now work in the community in patients' homes. But one day when I worked in the hospital, I had an elderly woman who hated the world. Could never get her to crack a smile. It took me much encouragement to persway her to take a walk down the hall. She finally agreed angrily. Huffed and puffed and said, " ok, lets go and get this over with ". She started walking out of her room and her johnny was wide open in the back exposing you know what. I quickly said, " hey stop I need to tie your johnny up, we dont want any wise cracks walking down the hall". Well she led out this big laugh, and we took a nice walk joking the whole time.

I love you Ellen, but I have to ask you, do all American women live in survival mode? Iv'e noticed all the preppers seem to be American. We don't have to worry about hurricanes. But we do have to worry about wild fires. You are so very resourceful. I would like to be more like that I guess I'm just lazy. That was sad about your little dog. 😢. Thats the way I feel about my 2 rescue cats.
I think theres a cultural emphasis that's rooted into American culture to be self reliant and independent also I think the media plays a huge role like TV shows highlight survivalism and prepping
@@lindaferguson630 LOL no not all American women are into prepping and survival 😁 Here in the states we pretty much get most of the weather disasters depending on where we live. Hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, wildfires, winter storms, earthquakes, volcanoes you name it somewhere probably gets it. I've stocked extra food for a long time, but have gotten into off grid preps for the past 5 years. The world has been so volatile I want to do as much as I can to keep myself and my family safe. Not that I live in fear, but it's nice to feel like you have some options. Great question 😁👍
I think there is an understanding in the United States that if something catastrophic happens, no one is coming to save us. Not our government, not other countries, only you can save yourself. Our ancestors survived on putting away for a rainy day, saving food and resources during the growing season to have during the cold season. This is much of what I've learned from my parents and grandparents. Self-reliance is a must for survival of your linage.
