yk I wish ryland could talk about guitar process cuz i think he use to take lessons from Lou (Jank guitarist/vocalist) but cut him off but what’s the true story or more music he listens to yk
Oh shoot if that's true that makes a lot of sense, as I LOVE Jank and could never find anyone who sounded like them enough, but craved more Jank as they only have 2 somewhat short albums and obviously aren't making music anymore. And after discovering Origami Angel, they were the closest I found to Jank and instantly fell in love. 24 Hour Drive Thru, Title Track, Kobayashi Maru, and pretty much everything off The Brightest Days, just so good.
this is wrong. ryland has never taken lessons from lou in the past before in any of their old vids (old gen 3 music vids and etc). but, they do have a lot of similarities with the people they work with. 1: jake checkoway (their producer up until brightest days) did all the jank albums (w/o fbhf). 2: ryland and sam becht have played with each other in another band called smoke detector. 3: origami angel released their split with a band called commander salamander. the guitarist from that band (forgot their name) is the person that came forth about the allegations, and posted the famous reddit thread “dont support fbhf”. they are one of lou’s old students, and nowhere can you find that ryland was a previous student of lou
I'd love to see a full recording of that acoustic set! Definitely love the new stuff but I remember falling in love with those old acousticish tracks back in 2019
