    How about a video about most reliable cars (and later, trucks, then SUVs) for UNDER $10,000. I think $10,000 is an amount that gets you a more modern vehicle but is still below the budget of being able to afford a brand new vehicle. That would be a great series!

    • @farshadrabbani
      @farshadrabbani 6 лет назад +1

      Haha no worries man. I want to know because I live in Belize and vehicles are brought from the US and they are incredibly expensive unless they are used or crashed vehicles. 1 USD is 2 BZD so buying a new vehicle is not practical and then we pay about 70% or thereabouts for duty!

    Judging by what has survived on the roads around here, I would take the Tercel or Civic. For younger folks with low budgets, you have to be REALLY careful when shopping in this price category. There are very few cars worth buying at this price point. Even if the engine/transmission are good there are a vast amount of other components that quickly become prohibitively expensive to replace. When the cost of the repairs EXCEEDS the value of the car, it is time to get ANOTHER car. My advice is to shop in the 3-5K range where there will be approximately 20 times more cars worth buying in your local market. BTW I aint too smart. I figured all this out the painful, expensive way by WASTING lots of hard-earned money paying to repair worn out, old cars ;)

    Sadly the 97 - 02 Ford Escort evaporated into rust dust 10 years ago here in New England. Spot on given the dual overhead engine too! One overheat and it's done. Saturn's carbon build-up is a problem though even in the good motors. They don't rust though. ;-) R&W - you're videos are awesome! Love your videos. Keep them coming! Didn't see the poll, but work on videos always grab my interest. Cheers!

    Can't believe in all these years I never thought about whether my Mom's old '92 Escort had a timing chain or belt. Turns out it was a belt. We put over 130k miles on it before trading it in, good thing it never broke as we were always scraping to get by back then. Super reliable car, pretty much the same engine as the next gen Escort but with only 88hp if I remember right.

    Please make a video about cars that have blinkers vs those that don't. Too many people can't afford blinker oil and it saddens me deeply. Please help!

    Agree with the Fords, they can be had cheap. Nail on the head with the CVH engine in the escort. Valve seats are an issue. Rebuilt heads can be had on the cheap though and the head replacement and timing job is a breeze. The Zetec’s are great little motors. Head gaskets are an issue though. If I see a cheap contour/mystique/cougar say around $300 with a head gasket issue I buy it and fix it and then flip it. Very reliable cars. Very easy to fix and cheap to maintain.

    I drove a Saturn SL2 manual transmission. I bought it for 950 dollars with 148,000 miles and finally got another car at 284,000 miles. Yes it burned oil but I watched it religiously. It was a great car.

    Back in 2000, I bought my son an '88 volvo 740. It was the non turbo and I think it had the 2.3L . I know it was an I-4. Great engine and transmission. Very adequate power, smooth, easy to work on, durable and pretty good fuel economy, too.

      I own the saturn, incredible car. bulletproof, great mpg, parts are in abundance, and it'll teach you how to wrench if you're young/inexperienced. but they do burn some oil, and they are uncomfortable if you drive further than 3 or 4 hours in one sitting. also mine doesn't have abs, so it is a nightmare when there's snow on the ground, but if you live in warm climate I highly recommend one

    It's good to hear about the vehicles' reliability and hobgoblins, but stating what miles the problem shows up might be good. $1k is a little bit bottom feedy for me. A $5k SUV or $2.5k sedan would be a good set.

    Great video thank u sir ! I am voting for Civic eg all the way every day. I owned 6 of them trough out the years! Head gasket replacement from the dealer were updated with a entirely metal piece which one prevent issue re accruing for the eg. currently own 2000 crv paid 800 bucks driving it for 1.5 years and a i did a little over 20k miles on it, still running strong. Replaced radiator and put new t belt and water pump that’s it !!!

    I really enjoy these 'which car to buy ' videos. I've been shopping for car for a few months now. I thought I'd give you a good laugh by letting you know that in Tucson and Phoenix Arizona the 1990 Volvo 240 wagon is going for $4,000 to $6,000! The one for 4000 as a broken odometer broken windows and numerous odds and ends of pieces interior that have snapped a broken off, plus none of the wheel rims match and it needs tires. LOL
