    Bittersweet to watch this. Watched all Sampson's TV games with my dad who passed a few years ago.
    I'd love to see his Super Bowl Ohio State game from 1981.

    Gosh. I remember watching this game like is was yesterday. Played on a Sunday afternoon, I believe. Good old Jefferson Pilot Teleproductions. What a heartbreaker for the Terps. I grew up with the Lefty-era Terrapins that's still my favorite era of MD basketball.

    That 3 point line is CRAZY!! If this game was played today a coach would strangle any player that attempted a 2.

    I won the ticket lottery for that game. I was in the student section, about halfway up. 2nd year, SEAS. We called the Maryland offense, the "Yo! Adrian" offense.

    Ralph Sampson was WAY better than Tom Burleson of NC State even though the same height. More athletic, quicker, faster, smoother, stronger, and a better shooter. But Burleson wasn't bad.

    This Virginia team was disappointing
    With Worthy gone from UNC to the NBA I honestly didn't see anybody challenging them that season. I truly felt the were going undefeated that year.

    I really liked sampson game back in the day but he was not 7'4. Still a giant (7'2 at most)

      No, he was most definitely 7'4". Ralph was a year ahead of me at UVA. I was a member of the track team and saw him frequently.

      @@degreeO No, he was about 7'2", not 7'4". Still a giant and a magnificent player when he was healthy.

      @josephmiller9424 2 года назад +1

      @@camaradiop3731 yes big Ralph every time they played NC they would go 4 corners if they had a shot class back could've been different I always say if Ralph played in today's game he would be a mega star
