Just saw Maiden in Calgary, awesome show, there were no changes to the setlist and I'm glad they didnt change a thing, you couldn't tell they had 7 weeks off they were at the top of their game, the concert flew by fast. Atreyu was a pleasant surprise, go early so you can see them, they were good as well...Up The Irons!
Wow...perfect Nico! Keep them coming, I love watching you play, you make it seem so easy....but man you are a awesome guitarplayer! Maybe share your tone settings which each cover/lesson you do, would be great. Greetings from The Netherlands.
Thank you!! I always include the gear I use for every video in the description and for the tones, you can refer to the plugins I use. I usually go with what works for the song so it'll be some standard preset with a few small tweaks and of course there are multiple guitars so I might use slightly different settings for each. Most of the time though I keep it simple. If you go under my gears & guitars playlist I have a video about my settings in Bias FX II. It's usually somewhere along those lines for the most part - even with the other plugins. Cheers!
It's probably never gonna happen but it would great if Maiden reintroduced this song and Futureal to their live shows. One can dream I suppose 😂 Still bugs me the hate that Blaze Bayley gets too. He got a bit of a raw deal with Maiden I think. The lad's a good singer and his solo stuff demonstrates that! Either way, excellent playing as usual, mate! You've come on my radar over the past few months and you've become my go to guy for Maiden covers! Loved your Purgatory and Sea of Madness covers in particular too! Those tracks look fun as heck to play! Keep doing what you're doing, good Sir! 🤘
We play Futureal with my Tribute band and it goes over really well. We actually opened our last gig with it - complete with dance of the knights intro. It's a great song! Glad you liked those covers and YES, they are a lot of fun to play!! 😃🤘
Enjoy the IM shows Nico!!!! Had a blast with my son at their concert in Calgary !!!! Awesome experience for me to share an Iron Maiden show with him 🤟🤟🤟
Oh for sure! Except for the odd solo (I might have covered one or two only) I don't really cover live versions. Trying to recreate a spontaneous moment in time as a cover feels a bit pointless to me 😬🫣😅
amazing as usual nico! could you do a breakdown on janick's riff before the solos? i find your way of playing it easier and more accurate than how i learned it
what a great song. I can't say I've heard it that much. I reallly like the song and look forward to learning the solo. I have been on a binge of learning most of Adrian's solos and am having quite the time of it. Thanks to your vid's Nico.
Merci! I am actually playing the Interlude differently from how Janick plays it. Same notes but different fingering and slightly different articulation.
@@LicksOfTheBeast a lot of the Blaze era ones are. Some of that material is more riff oriented and I love how tight and snappy Man On The Edge is. Virus is another one I had a lot of fun learning even though there's no real solo to speak of.

That's so great to see - and seriously encouraging!! Thank you so much!! 😊🙏 I LOVE Janick's solo on The Aftermath. Definitely gonna have to take some time to learn it... and then try to play with with even a bit of Jan's fire! It's such a killer performance 🔥🔥
Caralho!! Tu tratas a guitarra por tu, Nicko! Muito Bom!! ahahahahahah Ok... here goes the translation: Bloody Hell! You kick ass playing guitar! Very Good! 👏👏👏👏
It would be very much appreciated if you made another guitar lesson for beginners using this track. The main riff is not as easy as it seems to get right. Also, Janick's lead guitar before the solo is trickier than hell for me. Just saying! Killer cover anyway!
Amazing stuff Nico!!! I love Man on the Edge, so I was really excited when I saw this pop up. I _loved_ the insey winsey little harmony at the start aswell. What's your favourite song off The X Factor?? Mine is definitely Sign of the Cross, but I like a lot of the album
Oh thanks so much and I'm glad you noticed that little harmony. 🙏 It came naturally and then I almost removed it, but ultimately I liked how it gave that intro a little hint of melancholy so I left in in there 😊
Great rendition, it is a demanding song you have to do it all fast, and the riffing is not very classic Maiden. The solos perfect as usual, thanks for all these videos Nico.
A very good rendition of this song, a pretty good song actually. I still think Blaze singing is a bit meandering, lacking dynamics, but it is quite good still. The solo parts seem standard format, but I discovered that it was really tricky to play. Great pick!
Man on the Edge has two of the most difficult solos of Dave and Janick, IF you want to play them at PERFECTION. I'm talking for Janick's phrase at 2:29-2:32 and for Dave's phrase at 2:38-2:39. You HAVE to hear the original ones (not you Nicko of course). These two very tiny phrases are very difficult to master them. Nicko I really love your playing, please don't misunderstand me 😃!!!! I wish Janick would play the live solos close to the originals. He has done a PHENOMENAL job on the records and unfortunately he ruins everything on stage....
👍👍👍 Pretty dang solid track from the Blaze era. Still hella love that Janick inspired black Strat. Also, for what it’s worth, I dig it when you remove all the original guitars!
Nice cover! I recently started liking The X Factor much better! Definitely their moodiest album but still a respectable release. Sign Of The Cross, Judgement Of Heaven, The Aftermath are good songs. There are three songs recorded during that time but could not make it in the album, which have the same vibe as Man On The Edge, specially the song Justice Of Peace, an awesome Dave song!
@ 0:42 that's a nice chord triad: E F C 👍 @ 3:31 is another great chord triad: A F D 👍 this piece sounds like it should have been put on the Fear Of The Dark album; from: Scranton, Pennsylvania
Always loved this song. Fast and great lyrics based on a great movie about something thta can happen to us all...... going nuts caused by the corrupt clown's world we live in. Great cover.

Merci du très gentil compliment! 🤜🤛
I don't really use tabs for these songs. The rare occasions when I do, it'll be to save a little time figuring out some of the harder to hear notes, and then I still have to rework it into something that is closer to the way Dave, Jan or Adrian would play it so... I usually just do it all by ear directly 😅 I haven't started writing my own yet, mostly for a lack of time but at some point I might if there is enough interest.
Yeah it’s good dude but what’s the point of a total soundalike cover? Anyone with the guitar tab can do that. Why don’t you shake it up a bit and do your own arrangement?
One of the main reasons for this channel is to provide accurate representations of how the songs are played. It's great for all the Maiden geeks who want to learn the songs the way they are played by the band members.
To get an actual soundalike cover, with the nuance of the original tracks is incredibly difficult. Your little gotcha is more of a complement than you realise.
That run before Janick's solo is such a wonderful part. Very unique in Maiden catalogue
It's an awesome interlude... so punchy!
And deceptively tricky.
