I know we use cordless drills at work that have these 775 motors in them and just one can snap a 3/8 in stainless steel tap con in half in a split second. They're crazy strong for their size. So 6 of them in parallel would provide plenty of torque for something like a go cart or rc truck. It would be an interesting project for sure.

Question: are six motors less 'efficient' than one larger one ? more gear friction, 'interference' between the 6 motors, more wiring, more to go wrong. Thanks for any answers.
So I had some of the same thoughts but wondered if they are all getting the same power? He wired them in parallel which should get them all full power but will eat power faster than if he had wired them in series but they would divide the power among them. Parallel would make more power/torque but series would make much less power/torque but would run much longer on the same amount of power. If the motors are not in good phase which they most likely not since they looked like slightly different makes. So same power output but different years or companies so they might have different windings or magnet setups. This could make them fight each other a bit using more power at a faster rate.
in a way yes but a larger motor has one down side more rotational mass there is a limit to how fast you can spin something before it tears itself apart i am not gonna get in to all the fancy math behind it but for arguments sake we will say one of those motors makes 1kW and 10nm but can spin up to 20,000 RPM with 6 you can have 6kW and 60nm at 20,000 RPM but a larger 6kW and 60nm motor can only get to 10,000 RPM you could use a step up gear to get 20,000RPM but you lose about 1/2 of your torque and power. its the same thing Tesla uses instead of one large AF motor its 2 smaller ones working together and similar on high speed trains instead one large slow motor they have smaller ones placed across lots of axles meaning the same power higher RPM the load is spread out over a bunch of axles meaning more grip and a fair amount of redundancy.
Stone Mason it’s the same logic when it comes to car engines such as a 4 cylinder vs 8 cylinder but of course the more power delivered by the individual extra pistons! Motor in this case compensates for the power lost in the process of gears which is why in transmissions the gear ratios are different upon all gears to change the tourque needed. In summary more power is made by an extra motor/ piston and less is lost to friction and gear therefore more efficient
multiple small motors is better than 1 big motor when it comes to operational assurance but there will be more moving parts hence more to maintain. Gearings also consume some power and it require ratchet type gears to compensate less performing or non performing motor which will cause drag
It is amazing.. It can be developed to be used in more powered machines in factories. I think it is good to keep all the gears in closed gear box to avoid corrosion and to decrease the noise.
The benefit of the motors is they take the load off of one another more than adding speed. The best use of this thing is for applications that need a ton of torque, like drills. The array of gears to get this thing ready for a vehicle would require a transmission, so yeah it could be done, but the top speed wouldn't be what you'd expect. It would get to top speed pretty quick though.
They might broke each other if they are not loaded but let's say , every single motor has same amount of coil lenght inside so they can't broke each other but if some motor has 1 extra turn than others , this single motor can likely burn out because it spins a bit faster and pulls other motors to achieve maximum speed of that one motor but it will take a long time to burn one single motor with 1 extra turn
I get here you’re coming from. Wiring 6 DC motors in parallel to drive the same shaft like that, all 6 motors must have exactly the same impedance across the windings, exactly the same field strength in the magnets, and exactly the same RPM. If just one motor is the tiniest bit out of spec from the rest, it’s going to either drag or be dragged by the others, which will cause it to overheat and burn out quickly. A way to make this work well would be to have electronic speed controllers on each motor so they can all be synced up. Set up right, this would be a good way to get a big load of torque from small cheap motors!
Так а смысл заморачиваться, если практического применения никакого у такой поделки нет. Если нужно больше мощности, нужно взять другой мотор, не будет потерь на трение и грохота шестерней.
you might use it as a high power generator if you power 1 motor and connect all the other 5 in parallel, you can have 5 times the output current from the 5 motors if you power 1 motor with 12 volts 1 Amp (assuming the motors run on 12 volts 1 Amp), you would 'theoritically' have 12 volts 5 Amps on the paralleled output at no load and by using an SMPS, you can step the voltage up with the boost converter or step it down with the buck converter, this way you can have a powerful generator made by you and don't have to rely on free energy devices to help you (Note : free energy doesn't exist)
Nice video! Lots of efforts! But lots of losses in such designs. As motors design is not perfect there will be minor difference in speed of each motor. As if some motor lag or leads gears will wear out pretty quickly.
