James still gets choked up talking about Elvis' death, what an amazing man. Imagine living with Rick Nelsons family at 16 years old! This video is a treasure Thank you for bringing it to us.
Hi Jimmy.... thanks for watching and your comments... no kidding ... can you imagine not only working with Ricky Nelson during that time but actually living with his family... then a few years later Elvis! John Denver was no slacker either:) Thanks again ... Joe
Musicians Hall of Fame & Museum I watched the video more than once because there’s so much to it. What an amazing life. Thanks again for this amazing interview. My only question is has anyone ever interviewed you? Like to see that too! Thanks Joe.
Hi Jimmy... actually there are two interviews that you can see on our museum website or you can find them by the people who taped them... one is by NAMM and the other is called The Sessions. We also held a Q&A video when this Corona deal started you might enjoy. Thanks for asking... I hope you enjoy which ever interview you happen to watch... sincerely, Joe
Musicians Hall of Fame & Museum Thank you. I’ll be sure to watch them.
@@MusiciansHallofFameMuseum great interview, never knew he played with Cash, or Denver. I'm 70 and playing since I was12 or so, but never got to do anything like James B. Absolutely best in his venue. Just like Chet,Wes,Les. Jazz was always my favorite, but rock and country,I still can appreciate artistry when I hear it. Thank you
James Burton, Living Legend.
James Burton is a class act! I’m so proud that he’s from Shreveport. What a legend!
SAME!
Thank u Joe. James was a great musician love watching him when I saw the concert of Elvis. I always loved it when Elvis introduced his band members. Always thought he was a very nice looking man.and a great musician.
To me James Burton is right up there along side the very best guitarist in history. His playing is so smooth. He blew them all away on the Roy Orbison show that he did and he used the pink paisley tele. It so neat hearing these stories Joe. I just can't tell ya how much I enjoy this. 👍🏻😎
Thank you David... I hope you and all the others that watch and enjoy these interviews and especially those of you who let me know how you feel know what your generous comments mean to me... I had no idea back in 2004 that what I was starting to do would get millions of views... thanks again... Joe
@@MusiciansHallofFameMuseum Joe what you started when you did these interviews was absolutely brilliant. I and many others will cherish these forever. Many of them are gone now and I am so thankful that you ..in your busy life took the time and had the foresight to do this. I believe the Good Lord above made it all possible. Your touching alot of people and its just a flat out blessing. I hope so much to shake your hand someday. I am very thankful.
I don’t know what to say but thanks..... joe
@@MusiciansHallofFameMuseum Thank GOD for Edison, for without Edison, there wouldn't be no recordings...
If there wasn't no Joe Chambers, there wouldn't be nothing left to say about the recordings!!!.......
Wow! Outstanding interview Joe. Mr. Burton is a national treasure.
Thank you Sparkman...Joe
It's almost like James doesn't realize the amazing things he's done in his life. While watching this i wish I could've been in his shoes. I loved watching Ozzie and Harriet and I'm only 27. I can't imagine living with them at only 16! What a dream and what a talent James was and still is!
Well put Scott... Best, Joe
Thank you very much. I love your interviews! I've been watching them every day lately. You're preserving some amazing music history.
Thanks again Scott..... Joe
Very nice guy. It sure showed how much James loved Elvis. God bless him.
James Burton was Rick Nelson’s guitar player in Ricks band on the Nelson tv show.
Wow what an amazing interview. Thanks for this one. James Burton and the inside story! Just real! Awesome.
Thanks for watching boys..... Joe
What stories you get out out of these masters of their craft. James is a legend, all the people he played with topped by Elvis, Leo Fender, Ricky. Just incredible but such a humble guy like yourself. I guess you can only do that when you are secure with your own talent. Thanks a million Joe. Priceless stories.
Thank you Steve... it’s fun for me too:)Best.........Joe
Leo Fender actually wasn't a musician he couldn't even play guitar believe it or not, he just designed them.
When you had Les Paul on I got my Les Paul Custom -unplugged and played thru the interview. NOW with James Burton I got my Tele out AND put on my NEW MUSICIANS HALL OF FAME T shirt and played along. I love this channel. SO many great episodes.
Buddy.... that sounds like a good idea... thanks so much for your supporting our channel (and GIFT SHOP!!!!!)
Best... Joe
I never tire of listening to James Burton. Thanks for a great interview!
Hi Pamela.... I agree ... James is just who you see on our interviews. Same on and off camera. Thanks for watching... Best...Joe
I’m truly enjoying every “Musicians Hall of Fame”interviews I’m finding. But this one is without a doubt outstanding. Elvis, Ozzie & Harriet, Johnny Cash, John Denver. I’m sure there are many more stories. But I consider James Burton a favorite!
What a great artist James is. Every time I hear James do an interview i always think,, I wish everyone in the World was as kind hearted as James is,,the World be be a much better place. Thank you Joe & MHoFM for this interview.
I just can't stop giving you credit, Joe, for these wonderful interviews. I remember when I heard about Elvis. We were all upset.
Thank you so much and what a great friend you have in James.
Bill… again thank you for watching. I truly appreciate your kind comments….. Joe
I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your keeping the history of our music alive and for the respect you show to so many great music people. Thank you!
Great work!
Thanks John, Joe
Just catching up...Joe this was an amazing interview, James is a walking talking history book of the music we all love, the people who made it, and times that it comes from. These sit downs with people who are at the heart of the music are fantastic. I think they will be a treasured reference long after we are all gone.
Thanks your support Arch......Joe
Very good interviews ! James is not only an amazing guitar player but also a real true gentlement and a good person , he never said anything negative about Elvis . May God bless you James , TCB ⚡
I am glad you seized the opportunity, for history's sake, to interview James Burton. Your great style and ability to interview these legends will live on when we are all gone.
This is probably my favorite interview so far. We, as fans, lived through our own parallel version of these stories so this brings back a lot of memories ❤
Loved Ricky too.
Thanks for watching Bill… best, Joe
Man, what an awesome video interview. I could listen to James for hours. I especially like your interview style as the host. Thanks a million.
Thanks 69 Tele…. Very kind comments… I’m glad you enjoyed it…. Best, Joe
@@MusiciansHallofFameMuseum Yessir, indeed. If I ever make it back up to Nashville, this will be my "must see" place to visit and hopefully shake your hand.
These interviews are just fantastic Joe, thanks so much for sharing them.
Thanks for watching them too 44.... Joe
@@MusiciansHallofFameMuseum - been watching all last and this morning just loving it, thanks again..44

Thanks Lary.....Joe
Thanks for your kind response.. You are a true Artist in Every respect... Lary
Fighting the good fight with these videos. Somebody has to keep the legacy known and alive of the pickers and players of the era.
Great. Thank you!
Please keep em coming! In General but also Elvis related stuff 🙂
These interviews document a living history and keep it alive. Invaluable! Our southwest city has a local version of the museum, started about 20 years ago.
Thanks for watching Clarence... Joe
Absolutely terrific interview Joe! Enjoyed every minute of it. James sure has had a very interesting life as a musician & is for sure one of the all time greats. It's really amazing that he played with three incredible talents, Ricky Nelson, Elvis, and John Denver, who all wound up leaving us way to soon. Thanks Joe for these amazing video interviews.......... 👍👍👍👍🎸🎸🎸🎸🎤🎤🎤🎤👍👍👍👍
Thanks Steve...Best, Joe
Great. Between you and Leland (and a few others), these YT videos are helping us all negotiate through these crazy times.
Hi Buzz.... I’m very happy to hear what we’re doing is helping to take your mind off what’s been going on these last few months(years) .... I use to love late night tv but it’s not entertaining anymore... it’s all political and not funny. Most of the news programs too. I hope we get some relief soon but until then I’ll keep putting up as many interviews as I can... best, Joe
This was really a pleasure to watch, such a humble interview Joe and James. Great insight into the days of old... Joe also knows how to keep the interview so calm and relaxed, I loved the talking atmosphere. God bless you!
Thank you BG... Joe
Great interview!!! You’re writing the history of music with every one!!! Thank You!
Thanks for watching CHU...Joe
Joe you are a great interviewer. Wonderful to hear an hours worth of story telling by the great James Burton. It is so fascinating to hear the stories of all of these great musicians and all of the musically history the were a part of. Thanks.
Thanks kgo ... Joe
I could listen to James and Joe forever. WOW. Thank you.
John, thank you for your kindness & support for the channel, my dad, Joe, would have really appreciated it.
Hope you can visit the museum sometime.
Best,
Britt
Thanks Joe
This is a great interview.
THANK you Sir for making your life story so interesting .
Fantastic...
Incredible talent.
Very great interview!! The Stories he tells, especially the one about Elvis Death, seems like it happened just yesterday!! Great Musician & DownToEarth-Guy!!! Saw him some years ago here in Vienna Austria with Dennis Jale, Myrna Smith, Jerry Scheff, Glenn Hardin, Joe Esposito and Ronnie Tutt!! All great guys and great Elvis-Tribute-Show, got autographs from all of them, on my "Hawaii Concert 1973"-DVD-Boxset!! Best wishes Joe, keep on the good work and stay healthy, love all your interviews, so many intersting stories!! All the Best from Vienna, Austria, Chris!!
Thanks for watching Chris....Joe
Oh I loved this. Thanks. I love James Burton.
Great interview! Also glad to see Municipal Auditorium still around and functional. ..saw a lot of concerts there back in the day...
What an amazing interview...and even more amazing career.
James is so unassuming ..and humble.
Imagine having dinner with Ozzy and Harriett at 16 years old...and sneaking out nights with Ricky..
It's an episode come to life..lol
I agree with you! Seems like a teenager’s dream come true. Best...Joe
These interviews are just wonderful❤️
Thanks David.. It makes my day knowing you and others are enjoying these videos. I’ve said it to others... When I started doing these I had no idea anyone outside of visiting the museum would ever see them. It’s really been fun making the MHOF “Backstage” show this past year and pulling out these older “Vault” interviews too and sharing them with you guys on RUclips.. Thanks again, Joe
Very interesting interview Joe. I was disappointed that no mention was made of James' great solo on Hello Marylou which was the A side to Travellin' Man which was the B side. I still have the 45 in an old record cabinet which is currently on top of a wardrobe.
Thanks for watching 1... Joe
Another great one Joe, please keep them coming.
Thanks John... I still have a lot in the vault and making a few new ones too... Thanks again, Joe
Rip sir,,, your dedication to music will never be forgotten
Kenneth, thank you for your kind words.
Best,
Britt
Another great one, brother Joe! ✌😎
Thanks Mick…..Joe
Love it. Fascinating is the only word comes up.
I remember Augest16 1977 I was starting to play Monopoly game with my friend Tim when the announcer on the radio said Elvis Presley the king of rock n roll passed away today this was about7:00pm It was quite a shock Tim said l don't think we will be continuing this game. It was a very sad day time.
Thanks for sharing your memories Richard.......Joe
Love it
My hero James Thnx
Thanks for watching Tim...Joe
James went into details I never knew about Elvis, especially the days after his death. He did it so respectfully, great guy and musician and great interview!
Andy, my dad, Joe, passed September 28th- but I know he would have appreciated your kind comment and support for the channel. Dad and James were close friends, and James is a wonderful person. Hope you can visit the museum sometime, I know you would love it.
Best,
Britt
@@MusiciansHallofFameMuseum Britt, my condolences. I wasn't aware. Joe provided hours of great interviews. I usually think I know a lot about the musician being interviewed, but always learned more from the hall of fame interviews. Joe will be missed.
Thank you for sharing that Andy.
Dad just treated the interview as casual friends talking, as they were, and hoped the viewer felt like they were right there listening… he was the exact same on camera as in real life.
Thanks again for support!
Thank You Joe, very good!
thanks T.... Joe
Great interview with James Burton! Never heard the true story about Ann-Margret being in there with Elvis coffin for 3 or 4 hours coming out and then going back in! She really loved him
Wow.
Fantastic interview. Thank you :)
Thanks Brian.... Joe
Wow Such A Great Interview
Would just love to have heard a few minutes about his time with Emmylou Harris in the first iteration of "The Hot Band"..
He is the coolest.
Great interview Joe, I just wish he would have talked more about his Louisiana Hayride days. I'm sure he'd have some interesting stories to tell. I guess you would have needed a third part.
Thanks Deke..... Joe
James I could listen to your stories all night and day my name is Scott Dorsey I want to thank you for the advice you gave me at the Bradley Barn sessions I still have all those track sheets with all the signatures from everyone there somewhere in storage here I would be willing to donate them to this Museum if anyone has an interest in them thanks
Mr.Blue... we have the Enactron studio trailer in the museum. James actually played on a song on that album that I wrote called “Good Ones and Bad Ones”. Thanks for watching... Joe
I´m a big fan.I have two of his signature standard teles made in Mexico.
Thanks for watching Mr.And.... best, Joe
❤️ we sure love you James Burton. Jimmy Wakely is the cousin to the first guitar player I ever professionally worked with, Mister Jess Burgess, Rest In Peace and thanks for for starting me out
❤️ and Joe Chambers, you are very loved thankyou for all you give us
Thanks again Cindy…. Joe
Great video
What an incredible loss Joe has been to all of us.
Thank you Popo, dad really appreciated his friends, like you, here on RUclips.
He was exactly as he appeared on film, always consistent, funny, the most genuine soul.
Thank you for supporting the channel- hope you can visit the museum sometime.
Best,
Britt
Brilliant
EXCELLENT
I hoped James would have discussed recording & performing with the Hot Band with EmmyLou Harris. They could spend another half hour discussing the years with her.
Hi Ray.... I have talked to James about the Hot Band which he loved. I’ll see if I can find a clip from another interview with James about Emmylou and the Hot Band. If not I think I may do some more with James soon and I’ll make sure we cover it well. Best, Joe
@@MusiciansHallofFameMuseum Thank you, The Hot Band defined Emmylou's sound on her early records. James' memories of that time are fascinating history. Rodney Crowell can also share his memories of the Hot Band..
Yes...I bought and placed on exhibit inside the museum the moble studio “The Enactron Studio” that her producer/husband Brian Ahern built that most all of her hits were recorded in. A couple of years ago we had a function honoring Brian at the museum. Emmylou got most of the Hot Band together and played here at the museum. Rodney was here too but was ill at the time and didn’t perform but did speak. Best..... Joe
Dang I mise Joe Chambers!
Legend
Louisiana boy 16 years old and on a TV show with Ricky Nelson. Talk about a meteoric rise to fame at an early age.
John… think about hanging with Ricky Nelson back then…. Actually living with him…. Best, Joe
FAB U LOUS ! ! ! ! ! !
Thanks for watching Gail....Joe
Better than having a paper round 😀
👍🏼
ELVIS going to EUROPE!!! That is exactly what ELVIS needed. How sad it never happened.
Hello Joe it's a snowy day here in Omaha and I'm watching a ton of MHOFB vids if you ever have a part 3 Please ask James the question as to where in hell did Ozzie work. Thanks.
HEIS THE COOUEST.
Yngwie Malmsteen ..... Robin Trower.....🎸🌟🌟🎼🎼🎼🎼🎸🌟🌟
One of these days Joe , it gunna be my turn. Lol.
Little did I know two months ago.
RIP Joe 🙏
taking care of business....
I have always thought James finest work was done on those Ricky Nelson records! It always seemed to me he was held back a little on the Elvis stuff. All those GREAT hits and solos Travlin man, Hello Mary Lou, Fools rush in, Believe what you say , Its up to you,and more, such memorable solos.!
they probably announce that, so the people would leave the building also
Ask James “how many times have you eaten at Herby K’s ?”
Lol.
Answer: “ oh millions..”
On a side note. There is a great interview with one of Ozzie’s boys. He talks about James staying with them. And how great a person his dad was.
And what an inspiration James was to his playing.
There is still a lot of truth to that. Play the bass if you want to work. Play the guitar to learn more about guitar. Good guitar players have been a dime a dozen since moby dick was a minnow. Even an average bass player will get a lot of calls if they put their name out there.
he dont look like a man who is 81 years old
Thanks for watching Richard... joe
I'd heard he was good, but Ricky Nelson's lead guitarist at age 16? Dang!
