My laptop kinda died for the past two weeks, so I haven't really been able to play Daybreak during that time. Anyway, this video was more theoretical, so feel free to conduct your own tests.
Honestly one of the best explanations for the jank in hitboxes I’ve seen ever. Unfortunately all of these aspects are too much to keep track of at once to effectively work around it, but I think this gives a proper sense to why hitboxes feel off a lot of the time. I really like this style of video, and I hope you keep going with this content because this is very educational and it comes from a fairly informed perspective.
Nice explanation for the game's hitbox. A little thing I remember from the Daybreak discord server almost a year ago was that the hitbox were actually squares in front of the killer, and apparently they thought of making the weapon have hitbox instead but decided against it because some killers (Idol and Unforgotten) raise their weapons so it wouldn't work super well. Edit: Auto correct keeps changing hitbox to hotbox lol.
3:27 its also worth noting high ping killers tend to go for lunges that look weird on your end, almost like theyre lunge spamming or they cant time it properly- whenever i see someone lunge from like 10ft away i start to get worried that they have high ping also guys. the best way to prevent bad ping hits is to KNOW your server region where you get the best ping. which is a given but i see people like "im on 300 ping lol" as they lock in killer so. just go to servers with good ping PLEASE youre not just doing yourself a favor but also everyone else.
Yeah, that's a better method to determining the killer's ping. Though tbh, getting good ping servers can be a bit iffy sometimes (well, in Australia at least), and sometimes I just give up trying to server jump already after getting a 200 ping server once.
Hitboxes are probably similar, the main difference is that Daybreak continuously checks during the lunge while IDV and DBD checks after the lunge animation (swing).

daybreak's hitboxes and hitreg are genuinely going to be going in my note both for killer AND survivor like why do you do this to me.
