was a phish/dead guy at this time but man this show is smoking. and the late 90s vibes are so damn strong. love the music, the clothes, all of it. what a time to grow up!
Barber was a beast during this time... stretching the jam out, his playing was just a mind fuck!! Also notice barber is on the left side of stage where now and for many years has been on the right side. Nothing like 90's disco biscuits.
I'm pretty sure this was the Autumn Equinox Festival in Sep 98. I showed up here on that Saturday evening. I was 16 and I remember it like it was yesterday. Soo much damn fun.
Wilmer's Park is so epic; Jay I've been trying to verify with someone who would have been around back then--Did the Biscuits ever play the inside room? I swear my first exposure to the band was indoors Wilmer's "restaurant"; They played Little Shimmy and almost everyone (maybe 30-40 people) got on board with a Congo line. This was the weekend when the main stage lighting rig collapsed. Biscuits were supposed to play that stage, but I think the band somehow talked their way inside to play. You don't happen to recall this year's event do you?
Crazy, I was born in Sap 1998 and here I am listening to this. Can't wait to see them for the first time I was supposed to go to camp this weekend but couldn't make it.
I was here this year or the next at Wilmers in brandywine Maryland. I remember deep banana blackout and all night band in the woods called healthy doses
Ahhhhh nostalgia THANK YOU FOR UPLOADING THIS This was the day I truly became a Biscuits Junkie! I see you go back too....remember Pauly????!!!! I’m trying to find a gig they did at a small festival in Mays Landing NJ, in August of 1998 ..and I remember brownie saying he’ll see us in Maryland. Also...in NJ...it was an unannounced free gig at Princeton College for their Outdoor day ritual in September for the freshman I believe, I still have actual PICTURES of the Princeton Free Gig aka the 1999 fall secret gig ..it was BUTTER...it was like a personal performance cause there were only like 15 of us in the crowd and 4 of them like Pauly were roadies there to help unload all their equipment from the U-Haul. ...all the students walking by were like who are these weird new hippies...🤣🤣🤣🤣 Awesome day...I think Brownie invited us he’s like just DONT TELL ANYONE lollll I used to give him molly presses before the show MF is a BEAST. Loll he still owes me money 🤣🤣🤣 Dr Sam Altman we miss you! I’m wondering if I know you...? Asheville NC, fall 99 man there’s so many. Best times of my life
Heya - I'm not gonna lie I'm more like a wannabe biscuits fanboy haha. I never even heard of them until '05, but when I did I fell in love with the music. Barely seen them live. However, the music deeply moved me and I wanted to experience everything I missed out on as best as possible, diving as deep as I could to find as much footage scattered through old dead threads as possible, then giving it some TLC and making it more accessible to everyone. With that said, I'm so glad my upload brought you so much joy :)
lol don't feel bad, he still owes a few of us some money 😉 Mags too but to Marc, i just like to say we're even now... but, Mags, nahhh pay up, bitch 🖕👽
Saw my first show Feb 99 in Santa Monica at 14 below . Heard them a few times on local radio. Said to myself "Sounds interesting , have to check em out. I was blown away by the set break. As an old Dead head they have taken me to heights I never dreamed of even sober . Jerry's death left me adrift. If you still can dig up that show on Archive you can hear me yelling right before the set break My favorite band ever... They still bring it on occassion. but you can't channel God continually turn peoples brain to puddin
G Mau you beat me by a month! My first show was 3/14/1999 at Quixote’s in Denver. Opened with Overture and it got better from there. My mind was blown and my life was changed. I never looked at music the same after that night.
For some reason, this comment is just so satisfying to read. I've read and heard just a handful of others like it over the years and it just pleases me to hear it. Perhaps it's the appeal to the older generation of music appreciators...not sure.
I love how the screen “shatters” into the technical difficulties screen right as the Helicopters riff kicks back in around 49:30. It aptly describes what happened to my brain at that moment 😂🔥
This is my favorite show. Never fails to put me in a good mood. It's the show I play when I'm down for a long night or wanna introduce someone to the biscuits. 😍
Usually I would highly advise against hooking someone into this band with 1.0 material.....however, this is an exception. Aside from the sound quality/daytime footage offering some clarity into what they're doing, the performance is just so on. '98 has some really special stuff. I've never used this show to get someone into the biscuits, but I imagine most would appreciate it at the very least.
33:40 barber drops a slick key change that the whole band quickly follows with no stage communication just listening and that is why this band is the fucking greatest
Ahhhhh gives me chills...the transition into Magellan along with its intro...flawless. Thank you for this 😊🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄👁🍻 I haven’t heard this in almost 25 Years!?!!!!! 1/4 or a 1/3 of a lifetime. Barber 💈 rips on Magellan vocal wise right before the transition into jam. This made my week brother
This takes me back because this is seriously a great set of shows. Hightimes took Brandywine MD back to when James Brown was there 5000+ and what essentially made Tim Walther because had he not advertised in high times he might have had a lot harder of time making it.....But this venue was hella Gangster due to its relative closeness to Washington DC and NOVA plus Baltimore wasn't far either I digress have a great day if you have anymore Brandywine MD shows please send them my way.....
Proof positive that there is a deity of music that cares that amazing stuff endure.Smokin' performance and extraordinary document of a band dialed in and having a ball.
I just started listening to The Disco Biscuits two nights ago. Im looking for some help. Has this band ever opened a show with magellan and then sandwiched it at the end of the night? I would even settle for a show where they do it in a set. Im really interested in how they would find their way back to that song when they break it up.
@@scottmetatron7421 Boots helped me by giving me the url for the BiP. I found one show where they do it 5/4/2003. Learned some other really good songs from that show as well
I'm just tonight discovering that the burned disc I was given over 20 years ago that said equinox festival '97 was in fact '98 and it was the helicopters intro that first made me suspicious but then this part which I must have listened to 1,000 times which was labeled 'jam' on my copy that sealed it. Peak Blissco.
Shane Valcich For all audio replacements I've done, I do not tamper with the audio at all (except sometimes added fade ins/fade outs). I adjust the video when necessary to fix any sync issues

What a great time to be around the jam scene
My husband drools at my ticket stubs from that time...😮
One of the best Magellan’s
Guys were gonna play for 17 hours tonight enjoy these 3 songs.
I love this🫶
The jams are organic and incredible
Wow thank you for this blast from the past. Its amazing tonhear the old sound again. The keyboards especially are quite different.
this audio quality is insane
Love how organically trancey this gets.
That was the JP-8000 hey day for the DB, Mag Killed it from 1998-2004 with that synth!
@@CSL_ biscuits timeline can be 1.0 and 2.0 for the drummer switch and BJP and AJP for the keys eras XD

Yes to the first question. And theyd most likely reprise it. As in Magellan Reprise.
Or theyd split it into parts.
