Here's a look at my everyday minimalist carry (or as the kids are calling it EDC). These are the things I carry with me everyday, as well as the things I sometimes bring along. I also breakdown the outfit that I wear 9 out of 10 days.

In my pocket.
i tried that before but i don't know somehow my wipe become dusty.. thought that maybe you have any special container or something.. thanks for the reply Matt.. one more could you do a video on minimalist for car.. thanks..
Thanks fo this, Matt! I was about to ask about the wallet and then I saw this. Haha
Your videos are just so clean and refreshing to watch. It's like taking a relaxing walk with a friend or something. Dunno how you do it but I love it! Also I want a wallet like that!
Thanks, Hannah!! I really appreciate that.
Currently Hannah I agree 💯

I'm the same with phone - keys - wallet! Makes life easy when you're on the move!

Kevin Li same 😂
I have a better solution. Instead of carrying : phone , keYs and wallet
You can carry : keys and phone wallet case. 👍
This only work for guys. Girls do not have pockets in their dresses and pockets on pants are just for fashion, you can't fit anything in them.
Make sure you grab your photo of the rock
My keys are the worst part of my everyday carry!! I wish I could go keyless for everything
You will in the future! haha
And those stupid gigantic vehicle key fobs. They destroy any chance of having a nice compact set of keys.
Maybe this a a good solution to reduce your "key-stress" www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00YJSFXIS/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1638&creative=6742&creativeASIN=B00YJSFXIS&linkCode=as2&tag=owngalaxyde-21
I saw Casey Neistat put all his keys into something like a swiss knife. It looks awesome and doesn't jiggle around. Don't know how you can fit your car keys though
Me too!!
The “phone-keys-wallet” count is so essential for me whenever I’m on the move! I always do the 3 count whenever I leave any place. Puts your mind at ease. Also, more guys need to ditch those bulky wallets and get card holders! So much easier and nicer
Damn i do the exact same thing of 3 count and have been keeping it a habit for 10 years now. I never counted to 4.
Still, better than Half Life.
I always carry 3 quarters, 2 nickels, 1 dime and 4 pennies, to have exact change if I buy something. Minimal change in my pocket but exactly what is needed.
I have been watching you now for almost 2weeks now and I really like you content and I have got to say that you have really inspired me to become a minimalist and I have started reducing my stuff now. Thank you man really appreciate you

My Dad once told me: "You can tell a man by his wallet". So I opened my wallet, the big, bulgy leather foldy one. Full of old gift cards, receipts, no money, stapeled about 12 times, a few coins and some taped pockets. That was the week when I went out to buy a money clip with a 12 slot card holder. It's still empty alot, but it simplifies my daily carry and how much crap I drag around. I am 25, and I believe i was an undercover messy minimalist. I am now in a "de-clutter January" and plan to go through the same process as you, or at least in a way that I feel adds value / sparks joy in my life. Your videos are inspiring and my only hope is that my journey leads to similar happiness. Hence why I am taking it slow, to make sure I do it right. Thanks Matt!
Matt made me realize that I have always been a minimalist 😁
This is the best EDC video ever period!!
I also do the triple pat down all of the time, I kind of hate it. Would like to pare down to just a phone case maybe with a credit card and less keys. My keys suck so much, they actually ruin pants regularly.
That's where the 6 ring keyholder comes into play. Won't go without it anymore since I got it
I have a phone case with card holders/pockets and its one of my best investments in recent times.
Damon Bowe I have an UA phone case that has little bunjie type straps on it I love it it holds cards/ cash easily and doesn’t fall out it’s expensive around 40$ but I love mine
My EDC started my journey to minimalism. I went from a standard wallet to the Ridge wallet. This forced me to consider what I need to carry vs. what I want. I loved the limed down highly functional and intentional wallet that was a result. This concept of need vs. want then spilled over into clearing my desk, office, wardrobe etc. I find I value the belongings I have now more and what I have serves a purpose. I tend to gravitate to the following criteria in determining if I should keep or turf a belonging: high quality over low quality, high use over low use, and the 90/90 rule. Love this journey I am on, and it all started with reforming my EDC.
I carry a duffle bag with a Swiss Army knife, a roll of paper towels, a Pez dispenser, and a photograph of Dr Phil.
I'd love to see a breakdown video of your lighting/camera setup for the couch scene here. It looks really good!
Seriously a dislike?! Must be a cargopants purist.
These videos are great, thank you for sharing!
I’m a bit late to the party but oh boy did this make me lol
Yeah boi , got those 69 likes 😁👍
My minimalist carry has 2 subtle differences, I carry 2 Swiss Army Knives & have carried at least one since I was a schoolboy growing up in London, England. My minimalist EDC on a typical day is: Wallet, a 58mm Midnite Manager ( a tiny Swiss Army pocket knife with an LED, a pen & the usual mini-tool set including a scissors ) on my key chain, my smartphone, a digital watch, a few Kleenex & a 2.25 - 2.5 inch blade Gentleman's knife ( either a 93mm Pioneer, Pioneer X or a 84mm Cadet ) . On those days I need a PTK ( Pocket Tool Kit ) I forgo the Gentleman's knife & carry a modified 91mm Huntsman or an 85mm EvoGrip S17 - these are two small / medium Swiss Army knives with 4 layers of tools both useful in an urban environment & the countryside. Such knives with small blades are legal everywhere except of course for air travel.
Definitely need to get on that minimal wallet movement
Nice. I'd add a leatherman and a pen personally, especially for shoot days. Often I'll carry a single 3x5 note card for notes as well, but I really like writing notes down over typing them.
Underwear and socks do not go without saying because true minimalists go commando.
You and i carry the same exact things. No item more or no item less. Lens cloth is an essential item for me as well and I never see people wearing glasses carry one.
Nice vid! I’d like to see a female version of this. Still looking ...
Photo Hacker I'm female and this is what I carry. Got rid of the handbag and the extra junk that came with it. Much less stressful going about my day now 👌
N R I don’t carry much more than what he carries on a day to day basis. I’m down to a small clutch/large wallet. No more purses for me either. However, the majority of women that I know carry everything but the kitchen sink.
It would be interesting to see a video on that from a guy....If you think about it from a minimalist perspective women don't really need to carry different items than men or special items. There are zero waste options for periods (Diva Cup ect.) so that's not even an issue. I think the amount of items women carry with them is a result of advertising and frankly misogynistic ideas that women are high maintainence or that women need to be pretty and refreshed all the time so they better have their makeup with them!
How about tissue? I'll bring tissue with me everyday. Oh, and sunglasses. I need sunglasses everyday since it's summer now. The sunshine is terrible.
That is such a good point. I'm in the process of transitioning to minimalism, and sometimes it feels different from a female perspective because ads constantly market to females and I feel like I need to be carrying so much "just in case." but honestly, leaving it all behind is so freeing.
Most people watching this are minimalist or want to be one but even if that isnt you getting a small simple wallet is a must! I just switched to one (Not a minimalist and im indifferent to being one) and it is AMAZING! So nice to have everything i need and none of the extra garbage i used to have. Just noticed there is a link to the wallet Matt has and it looks awesome but i got mine for 15 dollars on amazon so you dont need to spend a fortune either!

You are inspiring my life so much, i am becoming a minimalist slowlyyy because of your videos, thank you!
The best minimalist edc video :)
Thanks, Kyle. It's not a competition. But I totally won.
I'm pretty simple when it comes to my everyday carry. When I have more stuff I use my backpack. In my backpack, I'll have my laptop, my cameras, my chargers and what not but I have to put everything in a row and it has to be organized. My mom used to have a "junk drawer" and omg, anxiety central. As a matter of fact, I am about to see if I can get rid of some of the tag/keys on my keychain right now. have a great week brother.
ahhh man too short... lol,, nice video and i always find calmness when i saw ur video.. it makes me feel relax.. just to ask you.. maybe you can make a video on how do you feel and how to manage simplicity in life.. i mean how you cope with so many less things in life and what make you feel about that.. thanks..
Haha thanks.
Solid advice. To cut down even further I combined my wallet and phone. There are some versatile wallet/phone covers on the market. Also I don't even need a house key anymore. I installed a door code enabled lock on my back door. A person can really simplify their lives these days.
Apart from the photo of The Rock of course, what would you say is your number 2 most important item you take with you everywhere?
Hey Matt. I also do the pat before I leave. Watch, phone, wallet and handkerchief. And I like your speed wallet but it's so expensive haha but as a minimalist I've found a way to downsize my wallet without spending a lot. I'm using my mother's old card holder and it works well for me.
What about the watch? Can you link it? It’s amazing
The simple watch company from australia.
I like how simple & realistic he keeps it, rather than flexing the latest this/that. I watch so many EDCs that are so expensive, I immediately stop watching. Thanks for keeping it real, Matt!
Matt - a question I meant to ask after your last wardrobe videos. You're clearly a guy who has an interest and good taste in things aesthetic and visual. I feel like for a lot of creative people that gets expressed at least a little bit in how they dress. Do you not get bored wearing essentially the same things every day?
great question!
following :)
Good question! I don't get bored from wearing the same thing everyday. Honestly I never got excitement out of wearing different kinds of clothes anyway. I mostly remember worrying about what people thought of the clothes I was wearing, wondering if they fit well. Now I can get dressed and get on with my day.
I will "dress up" in a button down when going out for the weekend or nice dinners. It takes a lot less to impress Natalie. Honestly if I wear I different colored shirt she's impressed.
I am a practicing minimalist. But this video as made me rethink the stuff I carry. I have several keys I never use, for example.
Matt... Most normal males carry those things. Phone, wallet, keys and in my case bubblegum lmao.
BRUCE LEE lots of people carry a lot more. No notepad, pen, phone charger, or pocket knife. Contrast with the EDC crowd who endeavour to be prepared for any eventuality - flashlights, leathermans, or keychains that can be used as a self defence tool.
@@rohanmisra7346 pocket knife is a must tho, but it really depends on the area you live in
@@alisafeerhyder1994 I don't think a pocket knife is a must, though a lot of people seem to think so. Here in India with security frisking and metal detectors at every venue a pocket knife is a big no no. It might be something I leave in my bag.
@@rohanmisra7346 for me in Pakistan as a 16 year old who goes for runs at 4 in the morning I'd say I'd rather have it than not
@@alisafeerhyder1994 Oh, I get the appeal, and used to carry one back in the day when cargo pants were all the rage (eeks!). At some point when security frisking became the norm, it just wasn't something you could carry on your person on a typical day. It might be something you leave in your bag, if at all.
It’s so difficult trying to be a minimalist and zero waste at the same time when it comes to going out. I need my reusable utensils, water bottle, keepcup, straw, handkerchief etc.
Left pocket: Keys, Wallet.
Right pocket: EarPods, iPhone.
That’s it.
Lol same
I got such a chuckle out of this. My husband hates skinny jeans, but carries only the key & fob for the vehicle he is driving (his or mine), wallet and belt. Sunglasses, if necessary, (he has contacts) and he has never worn a watch. He can get by with this because I have all the other stuff he needs in my purse. I can't tell you how many times he's asked if I had this thing or that thing or handed me something to carry for him. It used to irk me but after almost 44 years, I'm used to it.
I need to find 10 more channels a lot like yours so I have enough videos to watch 😂

Silver case with brown leather strap.
I'm also phone, keys, wallet, but I also tend to bring my small toiletries bag with me to leave in the car. I keep my brush, toothbrush/paste, floss, cologne, and nail file in a small bag instead of setting them up in a cabinet at home. That way, I'm always packed for a trip and I can take those things with me easily to brush my teeth after lunch. Not the most minimalistic carry, but I'm not adding any items to my life. I just have a small handheld bag so I can freshen up anywhere.
Okay is it just me, or this just what most people carry around when not going to work with a laptop and a charger?

These videos are like porn to me. I've just been binging the whole channel all day.
I'm a wallet, keys, phone, lens cloth guy too. Keys are on a clip that goes on a belt loop and then they're tucked into my back pocket with my wallet, so they don't jingle. No real pocket space taken up, and they're right there at the ready if I need them.
Huh
I *have* to give this a shot
This is so crisp. I recently got a wallet like this for the same purpose and have a carabena attached to my keys so I can clip them to my jeans and then slide them into my pocket - makes a massive difference!

Sad that a phone became an essential everyday item....... funnily enough not because of the actual phone use but internet and social media in particular.
A phone is a stress item.
Jarrett Photography Watch Matt's other videos like on How to Declutter Your Phone and similar topics from BreaktheTwitch. Our phones don't have to be this evil thing that complicates life, wastes time or distracts us. Have to approach it like a minimalist and allow it to work for us to boost productivity. Nothing "sad" about that in itself in my opinion :)
Get rid or get a basic call & text one
It's all about how you use it. It's certainly helpful when I'm using Google Maps or checking my grocery list.
I just think its sad that we live in a world now where a smartphone is an essential everyday item for some.
YAS it is like a damn shackle with a few exceptions of course but it def feels like a ball and chain at times. I might start leaving it home for quick visits outside.
Truly minimalist. Respect.
This is what pretty much everyone carries.........?
Same this is just... normal.
I carry a backpack everytime i leave the house, usually has my powerbank, water bottle, maybe a snack, a beanie hat in case it gets cold and a book or two when I get bored in the train or bus. Then have my phone, house keys and wallet on my pockets.

Thesimplewatchcompany. It's a company from Australia. The watch is not worth it's price.
@@internettroll7497 How so? Is it bad quality or?
@@noahjp7090 well the brand is not huge and the quartz movement used in it is not worth a 100$. So you do get better watches at that price or you can get a similar watch from a brand like timex for lesser $$.
@@noahjp7090 with that being said it is not as bad as say daniel wellington.if you feel like buying it despite its negative points then maybe you'll be happy buying it but just be sure to know what you are buying before spending the money.
@@internettroll7497 I have a timex and a Vincero, my timex broke (granted it was quite a bit cheaper than my Vincero) but my Vincero is actually the watch I wear daily. But 129$ won't get you the most amazing watch in the world anyways, and I don't think there is a watch that is that much better for a similar price range. Not sure if I'll be getting one, since timex has some better designs tbh.
I think you could reasonably add a small pocket knife to your edc and it wouldn’t impact you negativly. Like a Swiss Army Knife. Lots of functions, doesn’t take up much room. They even make a Leatherman that goes on your keychain! Think about it.

a knife, a book, a second book (what if I finished the first one!), earphones (so I can listen to audiobooks from my phone when I cannot read), documents I am currently working with, a pack of keys (work, second work, my flat, parents' house), laptop, notebook/papers to make notes, pencils, pen with cartridges... seriously, how can anyone exist without these basics? :)
My preference is to NOT carry a bag if I can help it. So, my pockets are pretty much like his - left: pen and key; right: cash; back: wallet (tho I prefer it in a coat pocket for safety). I do like cold weather so that I can increase my pocket space with sports coats and outerwear.
I have to know what watch you wear. I love the minimal style. These days watches are so design-bloated and heavy that I can't find just a simple analog watch anymore with no brands.
